  1. Black Dog You wrote- " The queen is ceremonial, a relic of our past as a colony." Well, if thats the case why are we not A 'REPUBLIC' like Nigeria, Cyprus or India which acknowledges the Queen ONLY as 'Head of the Commonwealth'. Whenever you get a chance please check out: 1)- The Crown in Canada. 2)- The Monarch as 'Head of State'. 3)- The Queen and the government. 4)-The Queen and the Governor General. 5)- The Queen and the Lieutenant Governor. 6)-The Queen and Parliament or Legislature. 7)-The Powers of the Canadian Crown. You also wrote- " I happen to believe such relics are in compatiable with true democracy." There is NO true democracy in this world -anywhere. Maybe you can try heaven but then up there you will find you could have GOD pulling the strings.
  2. Hate to get your good looking car banged up or yourself possibly badly injured or killed by idiot drivers who have no respect for the law or people in general. The New York State troupers have created a speeders NIGHTMARE. Case in question- a complaining Canadian speeding 35-km/h over the speed limit in that State was hit with an $180 U.S. speeding ticket. But two months later received a second $300 U.S. speeding ticket due to a new State law called the 'Drivers Responsibility Program' in which if you lose six demerit points and it's your second time caught speeding you are hit with this second fine and in this case totals about $565.00 Canadian. Is this what we need in Ontario to help keep those idiot drivers broke so they can't buy gas or do you think a program like this is nothing more than a simple 'cash grab'. Personally I think this is what Ontario highways needs to make our driving experiences a little bit more pleasant and possibly reduce your defensive save driving emergency manouvres, your car or even your life.
  3. err Geothermal has problems to. The pocket of water (larger the better) the coils sits in soon heats up due to the fact there is no circulation in that pocket of water and your heat pump becomes less efficient.
  4. Lost in Manitoba You wrote- " We must never forget our heritage but we must evolve beyond that." We have evolved beyond that. Ask Quebec and the new immigrants.
  5. Black Dog You wrote- " But what does she do?" She has already did it! The rest is history and the monarchy is a relished part of our Canadian tradition but still very important --ask Paul Martin he likes it. Read our Constitution sometime especially the part with the BNA Act and even our 'Rights and Freedoms' addition in 1982 that was approved by the Queen. You also wrote- " Besides weren't you the guy that was comparing our form of parliamentry democracy to totalitarianism?" That was I. But our parliamentry democracy depends on the PM who is dispersing the democracy and in recent Liberal times it looks like they like to emulate Castro's technique's.
  6. wellandboy This French Language Services Act in Ontario shames Quebec as not being a bilingual leader in Canada, is the only province in Canada to be officially unilingual and does not supply the English in Quebec with the same linguistic legislative protection the French Services Act in Ontario does. This is a powerful enough piece of legilation and includes in it's preamble: "Whereas the French language is an historic language in Ontario and recognized by the Constitution as an official language in Canada; and whereas in Ontario the French language is recognized as an official language in courts and in education; and whereas the Legislative Assembly recognizes the contribution of the cultural heritage of the French speaking population and wishes to preserve it for future generations; and whereas it is desireable to guarantee the use of the French language in institutions of the Legislature and the Government of Ontario, as provided in this Act." So any 'government agency' must abide by this Act which includes: 1.- A ministry of the Government of Ontario, except that a phychiatric facility, residential facility or college of applied arts and technology that is administered by a ministry is not included unless it is designated as a public service agency by the regulations. - a board, commission or corporation the majority of whose members or directors are appointe by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. c)- a non-profit corporation or similar entity that provides a service to the public, is subsidized in whole or in part by public money and is designated as a public service agency by the regulations. d)- a nursing home as defined in the Nursing Homes Act or a home for special care as defined in the Homes for Special Care that is designated as a public agency by the regulations. This goes on in covering varing aspects under many different subtitles. This French Services Act goes beyond preserving the French culture to actually it appears by PROMOTING it with tax payers money when in fact many aspects of it should be funded by francophone tax payers or not at all as in the case illustrated by wellandboy. I think Premier of Ontario Dalton Mc.Guinty should be forced to explain why tax payers of Ontario are forced to fund francophone concerns especially when Quebec does not co-operate in this area. Iam certain the English in Quebec would like to enjoy the benefits that are afforded to francophones in Ontario.
  7. Black Dog You wrote- " So, one irrelevent fiqurehead denounces another irrevelent fiqurehead and this is news." No you are half right. Al-Qaeda is not only irrelevent in Canada but throughout the world as a band of roving murderers. If the Queen of Canada is not relevent, then either is Canada as a country. It is the British who won this country giving us their British form of government making Canada a constitutional monarchy ruled by a parliamentry democracy which forms our government and is a major part of our heritage.
  8. The best answer I think is to convert the coal burning generating plants to natural gas. Nuclear power is a pain and problems are unpredictable and extremely expensive to repair and are potentially dangerous and are potential targets for terrorist and look how the heat exchangers actually cause pollution heating up our rivers. Whenever the gas runs out then perhaps think nuclear or maybe by that time some other more practical alternative will be available.
  9. August1991 You wrote -" We anglo's are screwed by Trudeau and the Liberals." Your right and also it is absolutely corrupt and unfederalistic to sell out the country to Quebec utilizing the 'Rights and Freedom' Schedule 'B' of our constitution. You also wrote- " What is time at the trough really?" Time at the trough incorporating a nationalistic province, which continually dwells on separation fantasies linked to a useless foreign language good basically only for personal use means CONTROL OF THE COUNTRY, thanks again to Mr. 'T'. This is why I think the only answer to this problem is for Quebec to separate to satisfy their lust for a complete French identity because if they don't it will simply induce other provinces to pursue that route as Canadians do not want French in their lifestyles and their majority English society turned inside out to accomodate a language that basically serves no purpose.
  10. crazymf you wrote- " She was banging the president and he bumped her off. What's your problem." Interesting theory---But WHY---UFO'S, Alien's---other theories---check out- http://www.coverups.com/monroe/
  11. eureka You wrote- " What we should do is telling the PQ that there will be no more referendums and that the promotion of separatism will now be classed as sedition and treated as such." Are you sure you live in Canada---A lot of Canadians have been screaming and demanding this for years. Actually our federal government especially the Liberals are actually promoting sedition by actually inviting a separatist Party to be part of federalism in our parliament initiating their Right to do this under the guise of democracy. If there is anybody screwed up it's the Liberals or maybe they aren't screwed up but simply Quebec smart. Got any more suggestions???
  12. eureka You wrote- " thank God some of us don't relish the thought of totalitarianism" Ha-Ha Ha if you live in Canada many Canadians firmly believe were not far from that under Liberal rule. You also wrote- " If terrorism will not be tolerated (by whom I would ask), then a good place to start would be in the removal of Bush and all who have incited terror with him." Iam sure you are a decent person but I will no longer debate your immature anti-Western sentiments and views that are against Canadian and U.S. and free world democratic and capitalistic beliefs. Have a nice day.
  13. crazymf You wrote- " George told Saddam publicly he had 24-48 hrs to leave the country (can't remember which)." Of course, you are right and that date was March 17/2003 when President Bush delivered the final ultimatum for Saddam to leave Iraq within 48-hrs.
  14. Here is the latest Sun media poll concerning Liberal corruption: http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Politics/2005/...309453-sun.html Or are they really simply a group of misunderstood and misguided politicians?
  15. Argus You wrote- " Now everyone in BC, Alberta or Newfoundland who is absolutely fluently bilingual in reading, writing and speaking can apply for jobs in Ottawa." Are you saying French is a more important requirement other than learned skills and qualifications, knowledge, intelligence and competence? Or are you saying Quebecers ONLY or francophones need apply in a country with a majority English population that conducts it's buisness utilizing the English language in a country that consist of 10 separate provinces.
  16. Sparhawk You wrote- ' The Conservatives can fume as much as they like about how Martin 'stole' their platform their platform but the political reality is the Liberals came out with it first' This again is a corrupt way of playing politics, introducing and implementing the oppositions platform prior to being re-elected. The five year time frame on the Liberals tax exemptions makes this promise insignificant or hollow which makes me suspect other big Liberal spending possibly is in store.
  17. eureka You wrote- ' Do you subscribe to the idea tha any weak nation is attacked by a stronger one shoud immediately surrender." I was simply addressing your concerns to Iraq casualties but in general yes it is a good idea to surrender if you have any concerns regarding preserving lives but this would never be understood by someone like Saddam who was only concerned with his own fate. You wrote- " Do you want terrorism to continue for generations to come." It should be remembered many terrorist acts were being committed world wide including 9-11 prior the war in Iraq. Al Quaeda is only one of of more than 30 Islamic terrorist organizations. Terrorism will not be tolerated and Arab countries have responsibility to address their concerns in a civilized manner. I can ask you a similar question-- Do you want terroist acts to escalate and possibly result to a full blown war against Arab countries?
  18. No wonder the Conservatives are hesitant to announce their policy platform when the Liberals simply steal their ideas and implement them with tax payers money. Shameful and Cheap!
  19. After checking around a few places concerning the elimination of postal code restrictions the policy appears to stll be in effect with no one I spoke to familiar with the announced elimination of this draconian policy and anyone of higher authority were not available or stepped out for a glass of water or went to the washroom. Same old crew keeping the population under the mushroom system and that is 'feed em horseshit and keep them in the dark.'
  20. eureka You wrote- " Why in heaven's name should Iraq surrender to an invader' You know as well as I do Iraq's were fed a lot of false propaganda concerning Iraq's military strength and on that note went along with Saddams claim that American invaders would be defeated and many could not believe that in fact Saddam had been defeated and had lost the war. It seems you have a lot of faith in terrorist and little faith in Western ideologies.
  21. It will be interesting to see if the proposed tax changes will be favoured by oppositon Parties to be passed into law thus allowing Liberals to buy time-WITH YOUR TAX DOLLAR. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...115/?hub=Canada
  22. Canuck E Stan The U.S. with a much larger population base fares better in many area compared to Canada as they have a much larger more qualified skilled workforce to choose from. Why our federal government ever allowed postal code restrictions to discriminate against potentially better qualified individuals from a much larger area for any given federal positon boggles the mind and indicates our own federal government could be participating in a form of racism.
  23. eureka You wrote- " A hundred thousand or so Iraqi might not had have to die" And Sadam signed the death warrant for these unfortunates to become the victims. Sadam had the opportunity several times to SURRENDER and he refused and unfortunatey the rest is history. Your claim that "Al Quaeda would not be operating in 60 different countries as independent cells" is meaningless in the sense you have no proof that the world at this time could be in complete disarray if in fact the U.S. did not beat down potential terroist activities. The bottom line is any countries or groups that threaten the world or basic capitistic beliefs in creating havoc and disorder and death against the only proven political system that works for all or most countries are looking for major problems.
  24. tml12 Your post concentrates on the Bush adminstration as being fiscally irresponsible while trying to attend to world problems as well as appease their own domestic fiscal reponsibilties while in fact they should be commended. Of course their going to run up a deficit when supporting a $500-billion dollar war, but why would you be critical of another countries deficit while your own country spends money on useless socialist initiatives like druken sailors. You know very well to crticize the Bush administration fiscally at a time like this could point the finger at what could be interpreted as a senseless war initially. You say you support the the U.S. and the Iraq war then I suggest you choose another topic rather one that tries to label the Bush administration as incompetent.
  25. theloniusfleabag Can you prove to me Iraq did not possess WMD? Oh what -THEY didn't find any. That's one hell of a big desert out there. You don't have any proof either that the world would still be the same if the U.S. had not initiated an attack on Iraq. There are plenty of reports that Iraq was funding terrorist and training them in Iraq. In fact simply by the intervention of other Arab countries fighting U.S. forces in Iraq it would seem good old Sadam had plenty of support despite being a murderous ruthless dictator. I think the possibility of world disorder initiated by terrorist attacks would have been a very real possibilty if the U.S. had not intervened. Can you prove there is not a present existing conspiracy against Christian capitalist from terrorist organizations like the Jihad?
