  1. Yaro You wrote- " The purpose of civil servants being bilingual isn't so they can address the nation it's so they can work with each other. If you don't enforce bilingualism you could wind up eith the ridiculous circumstance of two civil servants requiring a translator." What you say is ridiculous also. Ontario is a majority English province that is NOT officially bilingual. What right does the federal goverment have in Ottawa Ontario implementing bilingual policies in a province that is not officially bilingual? What is the federal government trying to pull off, allowing Quebec to control federalism in unilingual French Quebec and pushing that French ideology into the ranks of the federal government in Ontario. In Quebec that province even controls federal pensions of federal employees and controls all aspects of federal government in that province but yet remains 'unilingually officially French' the only province in Canada with that kind of self imposed status. Why the discriminatory forceful application of French in Ottawa where the use of French is not necessary at all with federal enities in Quebec serving as an information base for all of francophones in Canada.
  2. PocketRocket You wrote- " Take this statement, and where it says "Liberal Party", you can cut and paste the name of ANY party, and you would have the basic premise of every other party." This has become very self evident PR and cleary shows the RIGHT has lost control over the countries political ideological movement in favour of big buisness calling the shots in order to preserve the country and avoid social uprising at ANY COST. How much longer do they think you will continue to rile the RIGHT and obliterate their ideologies without inducing what buisness is trying to avoid? This country has been SOLD down the drain into the sewer by buisness. It's no wonder Martin is preaching everyone by a new home and a new car in order to keep Canadians trapped in their little holes , financially obligated to buisness while the Liberals especially go about their own buisness, transforming Canada into a valueless, unmoralistic, corrupt republic where everything goes.
  3. I Miss Trudeau You wrote- " Your busy lamenting the demise of the ability of people like you to dictate what others can do in the privacy of their own homes and buisnesses and then throw around accuasations of totalitarianism.' I am part of the normal heterosexual Christian majority not (govenrment)supported by the Liberals phoney corrupt Charter that makes fools out of decent people by handing out anti -nation building rights designed to cause havoc in our Canadian society. Do you really think corrupt perverts built Canadian society? Think again it was law abiding Christians loyal to Canada that built Canada and I will vote against any government that trys to destroy that concept. Maybe we need real leadership in this country similar to the U.S.
  4. Yaro You wrote- " Fine, a turn of phrase turns you on " No , you simply used the word bilingual incorrectly. Bill-101 denies Charter rights to Canadians living in Quebec. Equality rights pertaining national or ethnic origin includes language. And in the case of English speaking Canadians living in Quebec fundamental freedoms are affected in Sec.2-B pertaining to -freedom of thought , belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other means of communication. This violates Charter rights and the government so far as refused to force Quebec to allow the use of English any way the user whishes especially pertaining to publicly written material. Actually since Quebec did not sign the Constitution it should be EXCLUDED from any Charter benefits itself. BTW, Quebec's language rights as a French language legally only apply within that province. French rights outside of Quebec are owed by forcing provinces to honour Charter Rights especially minority rights and rights derived with anything associated to federal services which covers a lot of territory with Quebec not responding to the English with the same type of rights it receives from other Canadian provinces. Many Canadians are tired of Quebec's 'one way street' approach with the Liberals actually advancing Quebec's political interest outside of Quebec in English provinces. Language is a provincial right like in Quebec and residents in Ontario are being denied the oppurtunity to rejct any type of bilingual federal crusade by the provincial Liberal Dalton Mc.Guinty Ontario government. Mc.Guinty's Ontario provincial Liberals are not standing up for the English Ontarians concerning English majority rights to reject any type of government induced bilingualism or French conversion of signs or anything else that reflects French content. I think it's time to call a spade a spade and rewrite the Charter or implement a referendum to exclude Quebec from confederation or Charter rights.
  5. pharmer You wrote- " Why is it some feel the need to invoke judgement on individuals because of their habits and social and social practices." I think it's because it deviates from what society considers the 'norm'. Currently we have the federal government trying hard to implement discriminatory official bilingualism outside of their jurisdiction in provinces and cities and have met with success in cities like Ottawa. And even within federal jurisdiction it is outright discrimination as government is not in the positon to impose linguistic values period without the consent of Canadians. The same goes with SSM and now swingers clubs as the feds or the Supreme Court cannot impose items concerning morals which of course they view as a right thus overiding what in fact the majority of Canadians feel comfortable with in a moral sense concerning basic values. This badly confuses the concept of what is right and what is wrong and what is normal or commonly accepted by most Canadians. I would like to know how any government can implement morals and values under the guise of rights. This is absolute proof that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is badly flawed in favour of a totalitarian style government and ignores the democratic right of Canadians to decide themselves what is right for Canada on important issues. I honestly believe the Liberal Party of Canada can no longer be trusted and is not competent to run this country and if Canadians cannot see the Liberals hidden agenda of transforming Canada into a cheap republic that greatly benefits certain minorities consisting of a transfer of powers to the politcal interest of a certain province then the country will not exist as we know it with English Canadians assuming the role of possibly second, third or fourth class citizens at the mercy of basically all current minorities.
  6. Shakeyhands You wrote- " Will those who disagree with this ruling how it will in fact effect them." It should be noted how Paul Martin and the Liberals like to emphasis the point of separation of church and state and any influence mainly the Christian religion has on Canadians that are not Christian to the point Mr. Martin himself will not even say "MERRY CHRISTMAS." Why is not Mr. Martin so backward when it comes to supporting Christianity when he invades the minds of many Canadians who object to gay marriage that they must be tolerant of what many see as a perverted in nature and very objectionable for many reasons. Now back to swingers clubs. According to media reports there are 35 swingers clubs in Canada but hundreds more unofficial clubs in private homes. How this will effect me is the same way legalized prositution will affect me as it could become a tempting alternative the same way I believe casino's have the ability to distort certain peoples ability concerning common sense to cause one to loose everthing someone owns due to the temptation of basic greed except in this instance it encourages excessive sexual indulgence which could have severe personal ramifications and or contribute to the spread of STD's. But rather me, I would be more concerned with what it does to society at large especially when membership grows and a lot of women young and old could be viewed and treated as nothing more than a desirable piece of meat by especially men who have become sexually corrupt concerning their own personal outlook on life and sex and could target these women as prey or a potential sexual conquest. This could very well result or could result in the degradation of society and leads to the disintergration of morals and personal values and destroy people and families.
  7. Media has it Chief Beverley Mc.Lachlin says " As members of a diverse society, we must be prepared to TOLERATE conduct of which we disapprove." "Moral views even as strongly held, do not suffice." Legal experts described this as a Liberal move. The Supreme Court, although were not specific about what types of sexual behavior would remain criminal under the revamped indecency test, and said courts must consider whether it causes psychogical harm, degradation, or victimization. Why is it Quebec is the foerunner in niceties like: Adscam Bill-101 Continual separation threats 1st with homosexual marriage Anti-Americanism Anti-corporal punishment Karla Homolka and similar legal decissions King of private health care clinics Adversion against well equipped military. Origies Sorry, I for one simply will not tolerate adverse negative changes in Canadian society that could have a major negative impact on my children and family.
  8. Yaro You wrote- " Canada is a bilingual country." Again Yaro you faled to acknowledge countries cannot speak. Canada is not a bilingual country but a country with two offical languages and this does not make Canada a bilingual country. Also you wrote- " But what provisions does it contravene." It contravenes the Charter like eureka mentioned but the problem is we have a Liberal government that refuses to recognize it violates other Canadians rights basically in my estimation, mainly -Equality Rights Sec. 15 (1), Mobility Rights Sec. 3 (a), even Sec. 12 in reference to cruel and unusal treatment. I wonder how the feds would react if other provinces implemented the NWC in order to protect the English language and English Canadians from the forceful undemocratic application of unwanted bilingualism. If Quebec can do it all other provinces should be entitled to the same dislay of aggressive behavior.
  9. err You wrote- " I would tend to think 138 years of the same thing, would make that thing the norm... Perhaps it is you that is "abnormal". Am I the one spear heading the quiet revolution part two. Give credit to the Liberals for that one. Maybe Mr. Tucker was right the country is retarded.
  10. Fraudulent Post-Deleted
  11. This of course does not say much for the mentality of the Canadian voter to have accepted and still accept twisted dictatorial type style government. Any other country you would have a revolution. Maybe Canadians simply don't know what is really expected from government and don't know that democratically implemented policies should be the order of the day.
  12. Kiraly You wrote- " I guess Harper is going all in." This move by Harper is indeed risky and foolish. By being drawn into a debate by Duceppe in Quebec, Harper provides the prove that somehow the Bloc's movement is legitimate and for a federal leader of a national political party to debate this in Quebec could be seen as diluting or selling out federal authority concerning separation when there is in reality no obligation to do this by any federal representative of a federal national party. Harper does not have to prove the legitimacy of a federal political party.
  13. Yaro- " You wrote- " Lawyer, same as in the U.S there is very little diiference." What did lawyers do for the English in Quebec or what did the U.N. do for the English in Quebec or what did the Liberals do for the English in Quebec. What did lawyers or the Liberals do concerning the linguistic crippling of English workers applying for federal jobs in Ontario an English province? Answer: NOTHING! Maybe GHOSTBUSTERS is the answer.
  14. cybercoma You wrote- " Autonomous means less dependant on Canadian taxpayers." The Liberals already tried that giving Quebec everthing but the Kitchen sink and their still not happy and I suspect they never will be as their society is severley handicapped being surrounded by a sea of English. Dream on!
  15. Sparhawk You wrote- " And Bush is also starting to look like the biggest lame duck president in a long time. Harper will not get a majority so he really has no choice but to govern from the center." GWB has many major problems to contend with worldwide and I think the Republicans are doing a terrific job under the conditions but could cause a few problems on their homefront. The fact is the U.S. is a successful united country which unfortunately Canada is not. Canada has been experiencing third world ununited political conditons for 138 years retarding the efficiency of our politcal system and placing abnormal constitutional problems on our leaders. Up to now the Liberals have benefitted for many reasons, reasons basically that are at the root of indifference with Quebec. The CPC currently headed under Stephen Harper is being hampered by this condition and this is why it is extemely hard for any party other then the Liberals to achieve the status of a majority government. One hundred and thirty-eight years of abnormal politics is a bit much to take and I for one am looking forward to the day of a stable normalized Canadian political system, in fact I can't wait, time for a divorce is long due.
  16. newbie You wrote- " So Canada is now the "retarded cousin" of the United States." H-m-m-m-m, could have a point newbie. What foreign country would allow the stomping of a 'George Bush doll' on national television unless that country is planning an invasion or preparing to launch a nuke or something. I agree verbal retribution is in order, 'If you can't say anything nice don't say it at all.' If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. Seriously, there is 'no room' for anti-Americanism in Canada for many reasons. I mean there was a downpour of Canadian political criticism when Don cherry joked about 'visors ' on hockey helmets, by simply saying " most of the guys that wear them are European or French guys." Nationalist Quebecers came down on him hard as well as federal authorities and the CBC itself but where is our government to defend the U.S. against malicious anti-Americanism? This is a lot more serious in my estimation then the Cherry joke.
  17. Why is Stephen Harper trying to appease a province that does not support Conservative initiatives or issues concerning national interest but is only concerned with it's own self cultural issue's and demands. Harper's latest offerings to Quebec which will allow Quebec to play a role in internationanl bodies and give it a more prominent voice around the world is ludicrous will water dow federal control and is only asking for more cultural problems and demands from the Canadian tax payer to fund their efforts like the Liberal francophonie organization initiatives resulted with Canadian tax payer being left on the hook. I think the Conservatives should keep there election promises on a national level and if Quebec does not want to play ball --to bad! See story at CTV.ca-" Harper promises more autonomy for Quebec."
  18. normanchateau You wrote- " In some ways (but not all) it's reminiscent of Harper's desire to have MP's on the same issue again in order that he can get the outcome he desires, i.e., stripping away the legislated right of lesbians to marry each other in the future." I can see you do not think there is not a democratic deficit in parliament and the country. Parliament does not only consist of the Liberals but other MP's from other parties who form an important vibrant part in the day to day role in the functioning of Canada, legally elected by their constituents to do this. Do you not think these MP's should not be allowed to voice their opinion concerning this important matter which Paul Martin says is a Constitutional matter? Better still do you not think Canadian citizen's have the right to vote in this matter? In fact I think Canadians should have had a direct role on whether or not to accept or reject the Charter initially. Like I said before , this country was fought over and given a Constitution in which the Charter was imposed in 1982 without a referendum on the matter but instead ratified by premiers only. I think Liberals have politically infringed on the democrtic freedoms of Canadians have fought and died for and have produced a system of government that works aganist democratic freedoms similar to a cheap little banana republic.
  19. Sparhawk You wrote- " I frankly believe that after two majorities a Conservative government would be just as corrupt as the Liberals supposedly are. Many other people feel the same way which is why concerns about policy trump concerns about corruption." The fact is the Liberals have created a democratic deficit and are corrupt as attested to large amounts of money disappearing (stolen) under Liberal government control as opposed to speculated potential frivolous policy concerns by a government who as not yet proven itself in power. I don't want anything to do with Liberal policy personally as I don't have any requirement for a Liberal government to create a horrible democratic deficit all in the name of power and votes. This in effect is dismantling Canadian society and installing a Liberal institutionalized society which is the furthest aspect of a democratic country you can possibly have. A child will always hold his or her hand out for candy also and if given when demanded could very well be uncontrolable in later years. This institutionalized Liberal diversity will result with the same problems.
  20. Shakeyhands You wrote- " At least he has the cajones to separate his religion from the decission making process that would affect a minority of people that don't hold the same beliefs." State and church as always been pretty well separated in Canada and what your saying is simply not true. The country was built and founded with the help of Christianity. Homosexuality similarl to beastiality has always been controversial and regarded as something perverts do despite religious beliefs. Are you that naive not to understand that if you do not support your existing beliefs that another belief will become dominant and eventually rule of the land. Immigrants have their own religion and are free to believe in what they wish and it's to bad if they feel they are being influenced by Canada's traditons as one can say the same thing about them as having a direct adverse influence on Canadian lifestyle and traditions.
  21. Drea You wrote- " Any one with any brains knows that he would sell us off to the Americans." The next time you go to the supermarket look at the shelves and understand if the endless line of tractor trailers stuffing AMERICAN food onto shelves of supermarkets were to cease, the shelves of supermarkets across Canada would be stripped bare 3-10 days. After you enjoy your AMERICAN Mc. Donald's meal jump into your AMERICAN Candian assembled or fully U.S. made SUV or whatever and proceed home with your AMERICAN made movie rentals to watch their movies on that AMERICAN set up factory in China that produces cheap DVD's or VCR's or just about everthing you use in your home. Or sit down in front of your t.v. to watch programs originating from AMERICAN satellites or Canadian cable companies that all source AMERICAN programming, which most Canadians watch. As you probably know Canada exist for a single reason. Total dependency on AMERICAN trade (85%) is the life blood of Canada's prosperity and existence. Check out how many real jobs there are in Canada and you will find the bulk of Canadian jobs is providng SERVICES of one sort or other many sourced to AMERICAN equipment and parts and assemblies. And I wonder if Canada relies on AMERICAN armed forces for protection originating from any one of several sources since it has no substantial armed forces of it's own. And of course Canada does not have any use for all that AMERICAN manufactured equipment and literature on everything from computers to medical equipment to weaponery for the armed forces. Now, what were you saying that anyone with any brains knows Stephen Harper would sell us out to the Americans???
  22. Sparhawk You wrote- " Harper wasted to much time expecting a free ride into power because of the sponsership scandal." I think it is incredible that Canadians did not react negatively to Liberal corruption concerning the sponsership program and this shows how tightly the Liberal politcal noose concerning an institutionalized Canada is. I think if Harper wants to win he will have to 'out spend' the Liberals with election promises as it seems this is what Canadians vote for -their wallets.
  23. speaker- You wrote- " Americans are getting an incredible deal by having a neighbour and trading partner that is so rich it can afford to give Americans cheap natural resources." Our economy is kept in check by CHEAP Chinese imports and CHEAP U.S. food products. Our CHEAP natural resources is ensuring our economy stays entact which as always been pretty well the same concerning Canada-U.S. trade relations. CHEAP is a key word concerning Canada's prosperity.
  24. Pharmer You wrote- " Mr. Harper cannot change a right which has already been written into the Charter." Quebec never did sign the Constitution should have made it null and void nevertheless received Charter benefits and implemented the NWC. Did it ever occur to you their are aspects concerning the Charter that are flawed like it being a weapon in the hands of a government looking for eternal power?
  25. The Honest Politcian You wrote- " Nowhere does he say " Disagreeing with (my) view makes a person unfit to govern." I clearly identified what Mr. Martin said with a quote. It was Mr. Harper who interpreted that remark as disagreeing with Martin's view makes a person unfit to govern and was only intended as an opening remark to the actual story. And I agree that is what Mr. Martin implied as this is not the first time he has made this type of un-Canadian allegation against Mr. Harper.
