  1. What an asinine statement coming from someone who appears does not even know what morals are and never provides any proof to verify his claims.
  2. Actually St.John Baptiste day celebrations was to celebrate St. John Baptiste as the patron saint of French Canada with no one really knowing why initially St. John Baptiste came to be considered the patron saint of French Canada. http://www.canadianencyclopedia.ca/index.c...s=U1ARTU0003085 Regardless, "the celebrations were gradually secularized and June 23 and 24 became what they are nowadays. Nonetheless, the festival retains a strong colouration of Québécois nationalism and is perceived by some Quebeckers of non-French-Canadian extraction as an ethnic rather than a state holiday." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Jean-Baptiste_Day Pride, Dancer has nothing to do fiddles or petro dollars in Quebec. If anything Quebec pride (St.John Baptiste celebrations) is associated with an arrogant political self- love that indeed overrides Canadian patriotism. Mr. Harper is dead wrong making his statement that, " "Quebec pride is not the enemy or the rejection of Canadian patriotism."
  3. "Prime Minister Stephen Harper ventured into the heartland of Quebec nationalism Sunday and reassured Quebecers that pride in their language and culture should not be seen as a threat by the rest of Canada. "In my opinion, all Canadians can rejoice at the pride that Quebecers feel at having preserved their unique identity within Canada," the prime minister said in a speech here to commemorate St. Jean-Baptiste Day, Quebec's annual "national" holiday. "Quebec pride is not the enemy or the rejection of Canadian patriotism," he added." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As PM of Canada is Mr. Harper not out of line for stating a personal opinion relating to a very potential controversial statement, that many Conservative supporters might not agree with when he said: "Quebec pride is not the enemy or the rejection of Canadian patriotism" Certainly, Quebec pride IS the political root cause of major political indifferences between the province of Quebec and other Canadian provinces and Canadian national political parties. I think Mr. Harpers statement is insulting to Canadians who are currently patriotic to Canada but cannot depend on government support to nationally express those views politically, since Quebcec political ideologies support Quebec as being politically first and Canada second. Quebec has always been a major stumbling block, relating to Canadian patriotism, nationally. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...c384c55&k=60824
  4. This is only the perception of a single female individual and BC said basically what I said "she is really afraid of the liberal west in general". But on the same token you would have to be a fool not to recognize the degeneration of the U.S. and Canada over the past number of years due entirely to the liberalization of our current socities.
  5. Looks like a citizens of the world committee. Doesn't say much for Canadian politics, does it? Regardless, with Dion pulling the Quebec nation bit out of the waste paper basket, only identifies this man as a troubled person, not contributing much to national unity. An immature little boy.
  6. "Stephane Dion says Prime Minister Stephen Harper should clarify what he means when he says Quebec is a nation. The federal Liberal leader says he wants to know if Harper means the Quebec nation includes all Quebecers or only francophones." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is like asking Dion if he thinks he is all Canadian in spite of holding a French citizenship. Me thinks the Quebec nation only involves the people that want to be identified as such---francophones. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...0624?hub=Canada
  7. To provide faith in mankind and not to mentally lose oneself like atheist and agnostics do, in a world of nothingness. It teaches man how to interact in a responsible moralistic/spiritual manner, separate from a worldly manner, to fill the many needs to participate in a regulated society. You don't have to, as it is obvious you are faithless, poor fellow.
  8. France and Francophones could never tolerate any kind of competition without behaving in the 'fashion of Indians and firewater'. What else is new with this bunch?
  9. Fatin does have many valid concerns relating to the degeneration of the U.S. and including Canada. There is no one to blame for this unfortunate occurrence other than Americans and Canadians themselves, who have ALLOWED and SUPPORTED the Liberalization of both countries. Until citizens of both countries, come to their senses and stop supporting Liberal initiatives, conditions will only worsen.
  10. So this has to happen if we have the policy of multiculturalism? That is your belief? It is unavoidable. BTW- What does "WE have the policy of multiculturalism" mean. Did you have a meaningful role or part in implementing 'official multiculturalism' or did you like the rest of all Canadians just happen to wake up one morning and found that the Liberals had implemented 'official multiculturalism' and 'low and behold', Canada was 'officially multicultural'. This is really, meaningful history and so democratic.
  11. Well, I guess Harper's pandering to Quebec did pay off after selling out the federal government and catering to Quebec BLACKMAIL and threats of SEPARATION. " On the eve of Quebec's Fete Nationale and the 140th anniversary of Confederation, a new survey shows more than eight Quebecers in 10 believe their province will be part of Canada 10 years from now." Hallelujah, God save the Queen and the hell with the 'rest of Canada' and political ethics. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...1c-b8c9c02574b4 To bad Harper is not smart enough to see through the smoke that Quebecers will never be happy unless Canada is ruled by another string of Quebec of French Liberal PM's who will no doubt feed Quebec's insatiable political appetite to the point making the Conservatives look like a boy scouts charitable organization.
  12. Actually, it is. There are literally hundreds of valid reasons to show a lack or, or opposition to, "patriotism". But it is not an excuse for rudeness and disrespect to the soldiers. If your not a patriot to ones country, then you are a cowardly traitor.
  13. You seem to have misunderstood what was said relating to the internment of Japanese American and Canadian cittizens relating to a direct threat to America, concerning a direct attack from a mostly unprotected Pacific coastline.
  14. There is no comparison between democratic capitalistic countries coupled with a higher degree of freedom to countries that ruled with an iron fist like old communist Russia. Are you saying democratic capitalistic freer countries are weak and communist countries are superior?
  15. World War 11 was a large scale war. To-day the internment of the Japanese appears to be a gross civil rights violation but back during World War 11, several issues made Japanese internment a necessity concerning the vulnerability of the Pacific coast. I think the U.S. and Canada really had no choice at that time considering the severity of the war. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_American_internment Are you referring only to the Japanese when you say, " We are turning into perpetual outsiders, that never become "us"?
  16. I thought that was Quebec 'a nation within Canada'. Canada is a country. Quebec is not. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2006/11/27/nation-vote.html
  17. The federal government does not have jurisdiction concerning qualifications of professions in the professional category. Any opposition relating to lack of qualifications, say in the medical profession, comes from the medical profession itself. Any immigrant already in an existing profession from their former country, that comes here with money should automatically want to upgrade their skills at their expense to qualify to Canadian standards. I doubt very much immigration authorities would tell, for example, foreign doctors, no upgrading of skills would be required to practise in Canada. The same type of upgrading in various professions apply to Canadians, whereas they are responsible to upgrade their skills at their own personal expense.
  18. Canada has always been a divided country, notably English vs. French and still is. But could multiculturalism be the primary cause of Canada becoming fully balkanized? "Recently a new political party was formed in British Columbia, called the National Alliance Party. Though the party’s name is pretty innocuous its raison d’etre is to bring a Chinese focus into the political scene." So now we have exclusive Quebec political parties, Chinese, National Alliance Party. "It is inevitable that there will soon be a Canadian Islamic Party or a party that concerns itself solely with issues concerning people of colour." "The sentiments that fuel racism are indeed a two-way street, albeit some have argued idiotically that it is impossible for anyone but white people to be racist. Try walking through some of the ethnic ghettos in many of Canada’s big cities; the resentment and mistrust displayed by many of our multicultural masses toward the rest of Canada is palpable. And for that reason it’s only a matter of time before political parties that deal exclusively with narrow ethnic or racial concerns start spawning here like fish in the sea. " And who do we thank for all of this? Why the Liberal Party of Canada. Who else would be so foolish to promote Canada to self destruct in this manner by only focusing on its own narrow political agenda. http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/klaus062007.htm
  19. Your post is based on pure speculation and you did not provide proof to back your claims. Thorium reactors are only in the experimental stage and offer no solution for current usage. Relating to Canada's current requirement requirements think domestically available natural gas is is the fuel to use to power our hydro electric power generators and even automobiles. http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/altfuel/natural_gas.html
  20. Huh? Why the hell does the US owe Canada first dibs on rotary wing aircraft after years of underfunding Canadian Forces? Live with the choices you have made, from (initially) no desert camo to broke-dick submarines. You guys didn't even have enough bombs for Kosovo! The troops pay the price in the end, but the budget is balanced...Yeay! Fine, then we go home and let the US send more troops to Afghanistan. This might be a NATO mission and approved by the UN but the US is the reason behind it. There are military helicopters sitting idle all across the US, Europe and Asia. If our Nato allies don't want to provide them then they can take over our share of the mission. Ever hear of 'personal responsibility'. Stop whining like a cry baby socialist.
  21. Nuclear would be the best choice if there was an unlimited supply of uranium. Canada produces 35% of the world's uranium along with the U.S., Czechoslovakia and Zaire producing the rest. Once the uranium ore is collected it is ground through a series of chemical reactions it is converted to uranium hexafluoride. The mixture end up being about 99.28% U-238 and 0.71% U-235. And here lies the problem, U-238 is not fissionable and is useless in a reactor. This means out of 100% uranium converted to uranium hexachloride, only .71% known as U-235 is suitable for use in a reactor.
  22. Well, maybe people just need to stop eatting foods that generally contain transfats. There is no doubt between the link in high fat food (trans, saturated or otherwise) and heart disease, the number one killer of Canadians. Not to mention obesity and many other illnesses. Someone needs to pay for that. Ever hear of personal responsibility.
  23. I heard most manufacturers will be trading in their trans fat for saturated fat. What difference this will make relating to coronary heart disease is unknown especially to people who enjoy fried foods. The article posted below limiting saturated fat to 7% of total calories which will most likely be ignored. But what is known is that we need saturated fats: "Dr. Enig also states that saturated fats are needed for the production of hormones, the stabilization of cellular membranes, the padding around organs, and for energy. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturated_fat
  24. That's because it is a legal commodity and nicotine is not a banned substance. But relating to automobile and truck pollution from exhaust gases a major problem also with 'fine particle pollution'. "The global epidemic of fine particle pollution is estimated to kill nearly a million people each year. The toxic particles are so incredibly small they can slip straight through lung walls into our bloodstream. " http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/s1630007.htm http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=50324
  25. That is because you do not know what a REAL country is. And that is a country that belongs to your tribe and no one eles's. Then you would feel proud and dedicated. Are you saying that the US is a real country and Canada is not? Unfortunately yes. The amendments Trudeau made to the constitution, excluding participation by the citizens of Canada, make it sound like Canada is a newly created Liberal country. This artificial newly created Liberal country mocks a republic but in reality continues to use the monarchy pertaining to the government of Canada as a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy for the sheer power to implement any policy, law, amendments to the constitution, overriding any type of democratic participation by the citizens of Canada. Everything relating to Canada's history and traditions as been undemocratically altered primarily by the Liberals including our flag.
