Sponsorship scandal part 2 "option canada"
tml12 replied to Bakunin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't consider allegations by a seperatist apologist to be proof of anything. Even if there is some truth to these allegations, seperatists can hardly complain this point since they unilaterally decide what the rules and make sure they benefit them. The next referedum will not be fought according to rules set unilaterally by the PQ.It really makes my blood boil whenever I hear sepeartists complain about federalist propaganda: the PQ has spent last generation using the powers of the government to indoctrinate Quebequers with seperatist 'propaganda' yet Quebequers are blind to these manipulations. Both sides played dirty, no doubt about it. I think, in my humble opinion, leaders like Charest saved Canada, not the federal Liberals who fumbled and flounced in their kerfuffle. Of course, he has been quite a disappointment in Quebec City... An editorial in the Montreal Gazette a few weeks back said he would probably be leading a Conservative majority government if he was still in Ottawa. Who knows? -
Will the Liberals release the names of everyone involved with: 1) Spending our money. 2) Fixing our "democratic" elections. 3) Scamming our government ???

You know Martial Shadow, you don't post here every day but when you do you make good points. I couldn't have said it better myself.

You know, I am suspicious about the title of this thread. "Canadians Bashing Canadians...Why?" We are debating issues of importance to all of us who live here. I don't think we "bash" each other, although sometimes the debate can get a little crazy. But after all, we are humans before anything else.

Something's Wrong With Liberal Tuition Policy?

Also, class size. When I was a student in 200-level university, with hundreds in class it was mind-numbing... -

Agreed. -
Duceppe WAS making strange faces at some point. He looked uncomfortable several times. Layton stared into the camera A LOT, hence my saying he was "profound." Martin raising his hands indicated a bit of desperation. Harper's smiling was a bit forced, yet we know it is what his advisers wanted. His points were direct though.

BE GRATEFUL YOU LIVE IN CANADA. IT'S A GREAT COUNTRY

Lawrence Wilkerson, General Colin Powell's chief of staff until January this year, alleged that US policy on Iraq before and after the March 2003 invasion had been hijacked by an alliance between Dick Cheney and Defence Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, fostered by President George Bush's "detached" attitude to details of post-war planning. http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americ...ticle330218.ece Wilkerson even accused Vice-President Dick Cheney of creating the climate in which prisoner abuse could flourish, and implied that he might have committed war crimes. Wilkerson said that Cheney must have sincerely believed that Iraq could be a spawning ground for new terror assaults, because "otherwise I have to declare him a moron, an idiot or a nefarious bastard." http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/29/wil...w.ap/index.html River, Are you trying to pick fights with me? I don't think I disagreed with you criticisms of a lot of the Bush government's policies. However, I am not satisfied that Harper or Martin are involved in any of them. I should add: Martin is involved in many of the research I have done as well -
I don't know...he seemed to "VOTE NDP!" for me. He was like that in the last election. He kind of goes into these uncomfortable poses. He is like that Video Professor person on infomercials...to "Buy ME, BUY ME!" LMAO Cameron you are SO right...I haven't seen those commercials in a long time... But he wasn't as annoying as he was two years ago...you make good points though...

I love the CPC logic ... No matter what happens, Harper has won it.... Read my "Tonight's Debate" thread err...I believe I gave the NDP equal footing with the CPC...

Why won't Harper open his books?

Why won't the Liberals say which ridings Chretien fixed in Quebec to buy a majority in the 1997 election? -

Of course, now that we have threatened his 50%+1 goal. I am sure the Christian Heritage Party was involved if they threated the Bloc too... -
Uh....The Green Party? Sorry Cyber... If you read what the real news is, instead of using your imagination to come up with home-made facts, you might have come up with a different answer...... Environmental groups rated the NDP as "greener than the Greens" last election..... And how would the economy be affected?

Linda McQuaig - Toronto Star"US-born", how awful! (And is such a remark not politically incorrect?) McQuaig also somehow manages to blame the media for Harper's success. I agree August. The Canadian and especially Toronto left have become desparate. Their best weapon is to play the anti-American card. But you know what? How long can that work? How long can we insult are biggest trading partner and best friend before they start to take notice and get really angry. Shame on McQuaig and her hateful, odious ramblings...

Yes I am pro-Conservative. But I liked Layton's performance tonight. I would call it a tie between Layton and Harper (err and eureka...surely you can appreciate my honesty). Duceppe commanded the French debate in December. I expect him to do it again tomorrow night. Correct me if I am wrong, but do you guys think Duceppe did a better job in English in 2004? He seems to be a little unsure of himself now. Martin seemed desparate and fumbled a bit. Sure, a lot of Global viewers picked him as prime ministerial. But I think that is because he is the Prime Minister tonight. While I don't think he did a bad job, he did seem desparate and a little tired. Overall, a good debate.

Stephen Harper Wants to break up Canada
tml12 replied to River_God's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper is probably just trying to appease the Bloc now. No way in hell he does this in a majority government. He is also looking to woo Quebec a bit...it's good politics. -
I see it was changed...I personally didn't mind it because it made it look like I knew how to use the quote feature when I really don't... But I will learn on my own and have no objections to changing it back how it was...

Nice try deflecting the issue away from the Conservatives. The Conservatives mismanaged public money before the Liberals were voted in, and they have never been held accountable. How the Hell can they be running on accountability when they have none themselves. Presumably, you are referring to the Progressive Conservative Party of the 1980's mismanaging money. After Mulroney left, his successor Campbell was held accountable, appropriately by the Canadian people. How that was accomplished was the infamous Little Red Book. Did the Liberals deliver-no. The new Conservative Party is now challenging Liberal mismanagement of money and will be judged accordingly, by the Canadian electorate. With the immediate implimentation of Accountability Act we can anticipate sweeping reforms addressing many past transgressions. Has Paul Martin made any effort at sweeping reforms-NO. Only the CPC and the NDP have proposed effective and long over-due changes. Well put wellandboy!

Probably...I don't support it at all. But the Liberals have already appeased Quebec so much already...we'll see where it leads. For the record, I still maintain my original position that a Western Alberta-based government would have to keep Quebec in check.
