Principals Support No Zeros
Signals.Cpl replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
So with this no-zero policy, I can pick and choose the easiest assignments and get a 90% overall average having done as little as 10% of the assigned work while at the same time someone else does 100% of the assigned work and gets a 75% average because they did not pick the easy assignments but did all of them. At the end of the day wouldn't this stupid policy promote less and less work to be handed in and less actual education to happen? Why would I do all of the assignments if in fact I am being penalized with a lower mark because I did the easy and hard assignments while someone just finished the easy assignments and chose not to do the rest while still getting a higher mark? What happens in College/university when some kid who has received a gift of a 90% average all through high school and knows absolutely nothing and expects the same treatment as (s)he received in high school? -
BC Teachers Won't Accept Extra Cash

The only one who is ignorant about the job teachers to in schools is socialist... I wonder how long it will be before the real world smacks him in the face. He better be just a troll because if he believes half of the bullsh*t coming out of him then he has some serious hard times ahead of him. -

Ottawa: Terrorist Group Arrested

1) How did you manage to take my quote and put Army Guy's name on it? 2) Yes, any and all means at the disposal of the authorities to prevent mass murder. What is the point of having all this weapons and equipment as well as thousands of trained soldiers if we would rather let the bad guys kill our people while our resources are not used. -
Fired Teacher Hired - Unbelievable

There is a certain difference between knowing that a no-zero policy is detrimental to the well being of your student and acting to end or at least limit that policy v. promoting your own agenda for no apparent benefit to your students. As GH posted earlier, it is hypocritical of the administration in that they are not punishing the students for not doing their job(the job of being a student) while at the same time punishing(giving a zero) the teacher. -

It is most definitely his job seeing as he is at the front end of education. So you mean it is ok to stand up for something but not others? Should we take the status quo and never fight for what we believe in? No I support his idea, in this case he is right in my eyes. I support the idea rather than the man behind the idea as has been mentioned earlier parents have little to no input in the larger school boards where the "professionals" who most likely have never been in the real world make decisions and force them down the chain. Is your position that this man should have shut his mouth and gone along with the principle or the school board? Would you stand by and do nothing knowing that someone or some idea is doing great damage to an entire generation and do nothing? -

Signals.Cpl replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I support the person based on the position that he takes, in this case few would argue that the teacher is right and the school board or the principle is wrong, he was willing to take a stand and risked his job in order to make a better tomorrow for the students. If people just go along with the situation and do not take a stand on important points than we would never improve. That would be the consistent viewpoint: that a teacher should be able to do whatever the hell they want. No, the point I am trying to make is that teachers should look out for the children in their care and fight for their wellbeing. In this case the school board is failing students who will enter the workforce in a few years and will be set up for failure right off the bat. Do you support people following orders from higher up when they know those orders are wrong? Is it your position that those who stood up in support of the Civil Rights movement were wrong and should have sat down and shut up and go along with the status quo? He took a stand for what was right and suffered an unjust punishment for it but he still stood firm, maybe if more people had tried that in Germany during World War 2 the atrocities would have been lessened. -

I support his decision on this point rather than the man. I don't know whether he is a good person or a bad person but on this instance I support his decision. If he were a Holocaust denier and teaching that to his students, or chose to teach creationism exclusively I would most definitely oppose his views. If I agreed with his point strongly enough I would defend him and his choice, if I do not agree with him I will not defend him. -

I don't see how anyone can support such a stupid policy, a person does not go to work, they don't get paid and could be fired. An employer will not care about your feelings but will simply care about results, don't do the work and you don't get paid and if this idiotic trend were to continue then kids will go to the real world and find that they have been screwed by the system because they are uncompetative and have no idea how the world works. Some one needs to take the "educators" who support this idea and give them a tour of the real world where you don't do the work you don't get the reward. -

I see your bullshit, and I raise you all those not born here who have served in Canada's military, continue to serve, and will serve in the future and to those who have died as a result of that service. I think signing my name on the dotted line of a check for an amount of up to and including my life means I have some deep feelings for this country. I don't need someone like you to come and tell me that I "could not love this country as much as you" because I was born somewhere else, actions speak louder than words, what are your actions saying? -
US Ambassador to Libya killed in attacks
Signals.Cpl replied to GostHacked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I don't know about having information as to the method of the attack, he defiantly received multiple warnings that an attack was imminent and he ignored those warnings. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2201387/9-11-anniversary-Series-2001-briefings-warned-attack-Bin-Laden.html http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB116/pdb8-6-2001.pdf http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/apr/09/september11.alqaida I'm pretty sure this qualifies as a warning, more so that "warned about a deteriorating security situation". Was the situation deteriorating for the Libyans? Or the Americans? Maybe it was about the ME is general. -

You mean like the warning that Bush had before the attacks in 2001 and did absolutely nothing to prevent them? I am pretty sure that September 11 2001 screw up trumps September 11 2012. -

What exactly would you propose he do about it? Lets say you are the president and you can travel back to 4 days ago...what would you do differently? Invade every muslim nation? Withdraw every Embassy from every Nation that has a substantial muslim population? -

US Ambassador to Libya killed in attacks

He is responsible for what is happening, just because he is not pulling the trigger doesn't mean he is innocent. The first time could be written off as stupidity, but the second and third time he knew very well that people will die because of him taunting Islam and he did it any way without considering who will die because of his comments/actions. -

There is a rapist, he rapes a women every week for six weeks. The rape occurs every week between Monday morning and Sunday night. On the seventh week after he commits a rape, I go on a news show and state that he is the most despicable, disgusting lowest life form etc... , the next day he rapes 4 more women because I pissed him off. Now 3 weeks later he has not been caught yet so I decide I will advertise my newest book and I go on a news show once again and repeat what already states previously knowing that it will infuriate him and the result would be 4 more women raped due to my comments. Now add 3 more weeks and still he has not been apprehended and I, once again decide to insult him for my personal reasons knowing full well that he will rape 4 women to prove his point. Would I share any of the blame for the extra violence committed by this person? I understand that the proper reaction of a normal human being is not to lash out and be violent upon insult but in this case the reaction is more violence. So do I share in the blame knowing that the first time I insulted him 4 women were raped as a direct result of my comments, the second time I insulted him I did not add anything new to the conversation just repeat my initial point with the exact same consequences and the third time I knew the consequences yet I repeated essentially the same point as the previous two times and I did it specifically for personal gain? -

Canada closes embassy in Iran, expels diplomats.
Signals.Cpl replied to GostHacked's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Israel would not, but 42% of all Jews live in Israel, 42% live in Canada and the US, with most of the remainder living in Europe with some scattered around the world. I would say the 42% living in Canada and the US are pretty safe from Annihilation and with a country like Iran, you need to hit a few places and the whole thing will collapse in on itself so they are not much better off. Yes maybe Israel cannot nor would it want to try and take out all muslims but when push comes to shove they can take out Quite a few Iranians, and if Iran decides to nuke Israel they will take out Quite a few muslims along with Israel. -

So you find nothing wrong with the fool who made this video hoping for just this reaction in order to prove his point? There is more than enough blame to go around here and personally the once who murdered the American citizens are guilty but so is the fool who intentionally instigated the situation hoping for American casualties in order to promote himself. If your freedom of speech is not universal, and it is not universal you have to measure your words so when you know that the words that come out of your mouth, and your actions are viewed and they have consequences. At this point in time he has instigated several such incidents that have directly contributed to a number of deaths due to desire for personal gain. He wrote a book about Islam and then threatened to burn the Koran as I assume a publicity stunt, as his book gained popularity after the initial threat as well as getting a free car for not burning the Koran in 2010 thanks to a dealership in New Jersey. At the end of the day, this is not about freedom of speech as much as self promotion at the expense of American and NATO lives as well as innocent bystanders. No, it has nothing to do with that it is simply that when you state something intentionally designed to get a deadly reaction in order to promote yourself and your "cause" then it becomes problematic. He most definitely knows that such actions cause deaths around the world because his actions in 2010 caused deaths simply because he wanted to promote his book. His actions earlier this year caused deaths not only of Americans but of NATO troops whose families I am sure are glad their loved once died to protect his freedom to kill people. He is not calling them out on anything because of principle, it is a ruse to get a reaction in order to prove his argument at the expense of 4 innocent American lives most recently and dozens of innocent lives from previous such events. Great, I agree what about those on our side? He intentionally instigate this knowing that Americans would die for his pleasure...would you feel like this if you lost a loved one due to his instigation? I am certain that should his life be under any threat whatsoever the authorities would do everything in their power to protect him and his family, that is why he is hiding. I assume the authorities have protective detail on him as we speak so he is most likely in no danger what so ever unlike the poor bastards that have to die because of him. He did it in 2010, there were deaths. He knew there would be deaths so he did what he planned to do in 2010 but this time he actually went through with it earlier this year more deaths occurred. So if he did not know that other people would die for his actions then he is the dumbest person in America. He instigate the incident, hoping that Americans will die in order to prove his point. If the muslims did not bite then his argument falls through. If muslims had not caused such rioting and deaths in 2010 we would have already forgotten about this fool and he would have stop trying to get people killed. He is continuing with this because people died in his previous 2 escapades and he received much more than his fair share of attention. He is responsible for every single death that occurs as a result of his actions in April and September of this year. He is not advocating the deaths, at least not publicly but he knows that they will come and as such he is responsible for every death his actions cause. No, he is making a joke of 9/11, instead of remembering the people of those attacks 11 years ago, he is creating new casualties through his actions, next time he decides to remind the public that he exists, he should probably warn the US authorities in order to have them stock up on body bags. So you assign no blame on him, even though he knew that his actions will most certainly cause serious injury and death to a number of Americans and possibly other NATO members. Yeah, as you said freedom is not free ask the families of the deceased as their loved once paid for this idiots words so that he can keep his face in the publics eye. No one is caving in, but knowing that his actions will cause innocent people to suffer and/or die should wake him. His freedom of speech just cost 4 people their lives.Just because a fire will burn does not mean you should throw gas in it because you can. You seem to value the right of one fool to make money and push his message more than the lives of the dozens of people who died because of his idiocy. How about we send our youth the message that its not ok to gamble with someone else's life? I don't want to die in some foreign land because some fool wants to get media attention for his church and get interest for his book. why do you want to send more 18 year olds to a meaningless death in Afghanistan in order to uphold some fools right to cause the death. His speech is aimed 100% at causing death so that his message reinforced, so that his book gets more sales and any subsequent book(s) get more sales and he makes sure to extend his 15 minutes of fame. Oh he is not letting it happen, he is fairly active in this event...actualy I would say he has a central role just as he intended. I would hope not. If you know the consequences of your action might be death because your freedom of speech does not extend much beyond your borders and those of other western nations and you don't want to die then don't speak. Speaking when you know that your words/actions will cause a number of people to lose their lives while you are safe far away then maybe you should reconsider your words/actions. If your words cause my death you killed me just as if you were the one pulling the trigger. The idiot who put it on youtube. There is more than enough blame to go around. First time is free speech, second time you do it knowing that someone else will die for your free speech is not free speech it is murder. I value other people's lives more than that, I am not going to send you to your death in order to express an "opinion" just so I can make a few more bucks and squeeze some more fame out of those 15 min.
