Do you thinkg the new ships are so drasticly different to give us some magical superpowers? If the RCN has not gone mad with power having destroyers AND frigates they will not go mad with power have an equal number of frigate type ships.

Because we have the Firgates and Destroyers, we are not looking to get new capabilities, we are looking to replace existing capabilities.

So you think the US randomly bombs the sh*t out of some house for the fun of it? It is quite that clear, sometimes mistakes are made which is unfortunate but for the most part if you commit terrorist acts you can expect a visit from the drones.

Really? I'm pretty sure they know if the guy is or is not a terrorist before they blow him to pieces, I doubt that the US military uses the drones on a hunch that the guy could at point possibly not 100% sure but there is the chance that he was a terrorist. Do they cause collateral damage and casualties? Yes, do I agree with that? On most cases no but from where I stand, if the missiles start coming, the target more than earned them.

1) Huffingtonpost does not equal the FBI as they can manipulate the data to fit their story. 2) If you look at the statistics directly from the FBI, you would note that the victims of hate crimes based on religion are predominately jews(71%) and anti-muslim(8.3%). Now if you compare the statistics to their total population in the US as you so kindly provided, the muslim population is about 41.6% of the Jewish population yet there were significantly less muslim victims than jewish victims. So the fact that 70% of all religion based hate crimes are against jews, and only 8% are against muslims seems to indicate what exactly? Yet you ignore that many of the groups in the region want to destroy Israel, where is the human rights there? I approve of their right to live, if the terrorists and thats what they truly are recognized Israel's right to exist, and made legitimate effort to end the violence I would support them, until then I will not willingly throw an entire nation under the bus just because they want to live. Are you serious? Every post you make is geared towards one thing, and from where I stand that one thing is mass-murder. and you justify the actions of the people who would if given half a chance destroy an entire nation.

To me, they hate everyone equally, if they hate you more than me but are willing to kill both of us, that does not make me feel any better. Also honestly does it even matter? He killed people, I don't see any reason to suggest he killed them due to mistaken identity, maybe they were the closest he could get. Those attacks in England and Spain, as well as the attacks in the US were committed by a group of people who hold the same faith, yet when those attacks happen there is always that large segment of western society which works really hard to separate the people who commit the crimes from the innocent. While at the same time every time there is a mass killing the same segment of society cry for strict gun control. Is there concrete proof that gun control=less crime?

I think her point was different. The way I understand what American Women said was that when 20 terrorists killed 2000+ people there were many who said they did not represent islam and , while 1 guy kills 20 people suddenly he represents America and all the legal law abiding gun owners in the US. There is a double standard and if people just look it becomes pretty self evident.

Yeah but if we look at every homicide through history, the one thing that stands as common between them is not the gun or the bullet but the human being. If I wanted to kill a bunch of people, I would not need a gun or bullets to do so, if I wanted to do damage I could find dozens of ways to do so with materials that I have available to me legally. Removing the mode of the murder does not remove the desire or motivation for the action. Guns don't fire themselves so thinking that eliminating the gun will eliminate the violence is naive at best.

We are doing fine without what? The Frigates? Because we have a bunch of those I think 15 Frigates and destroyers so we are doing fine WITH them rather than without them. So is your position that we need to depend on the goodwill of the company/nation which has the ships in the arctic to do the right thing and recall said ship? What about the east coast and west coast? what happens when we need to enforce the laws of Canada in Canadian waters? Or what happens when we need to send a ship in order to help evacuate Canadians from a war zone? What happens then? Ask the Americans for help? If we are going by your logic we might as well disband the CF and just give the Americans the money to protect us. If we cannot protect the Arctic, or the Pacific, or the Atlantic we are not independent, if we cannot protect our citizens and help evacuate them from a war zone we are not independent.

So your theory is that we should give the Rangers some drones and a radio so that they can call DNDHQ and tell them of anyone entering our territory so that the RCN can do what exactly? Call the Americans and beg for someone to go and chase the bad guy away? We need the new Surface Combat vessels no matter how much you wish that we didn't.

Since when are frigates considered stealth fighters?

Look at how long it would take to build the new ships to replace our frigates and destroyers, the plan from how I understand it is that they ships would be spread to 3 major shipyards and ill be build over the next 30 years of continuous work. Getting 20,30 or even 50 cheap patrol vessels and trying to stretch it over a 30 year timeframe would not achieve the same goal, either the shipyard will intentionally drag their feet with construction, or the yard will work for a few years, then take some time off and start again. On top of that, should the order be changed, there would be no reason to keep all the orders for those shipyards and thus the yards building the new surface vessels will lose out. Does not matter, what I am saying is that with every passing year the area of operation for the RCN increases as the ice starts to melt. Shrinking the navy while there is more territory to be patrolled and protected with every year is ignorant and criminal at the very least.
