  1. Don't you think we profit from child labour every time you buy a product made by a child in some third world country? Don't you think that there are Canadian companies or at least companies operating in Canada who use child labor for their products? We can't act superior to them if we look the other way when we buy products made by kids in horrible working conditions.
  2. There is the risk of relations with the US not being good for them but I doubt that would be an issue in the short to medium term. Just the tourism and trade aspects would bring tremendous benefit .
  3. Obviously as usual, you have no idea what you are talking about. If the US and Cuba get close economic relations and open up trade , Cuba will get a lot more out of the deal than the US would. Cuba's economy and standard of living will undoubtedly increase dramatically.
  4. Did you actually read what it is meant to do? If you read it from your own source you might get an answer as to why it costs so much.
  5. If you apply for a job, you may have to do an exam depending on the company. Does it cause anxiety? If you are not ready yes it does... if you are not ready and the best way to make sure none of our students are ready is to remove tests and exams in schools. What we would get is individuals who are full of confidence but without the knowledge or capabilities to back it up and who will fail the first time they face a test or obstacle. I would never send my kids to a school that passes them to spare their feelings and this is basically all that would be accomplished, more home schooling and private schools with a result of public schools getting their funding cut.
  6. You can also argue that a police officer should be your personal body guard and chauffeur because you pay taxes as well...
  7. I don't think it should apply to aiding and abetting the enemy. If they are going there to help people;e who lack basic healthcare and in the process treat ISIS members as well it should not be held as some sort of treason against their country. There are plenty of people if not the vast majority of the population within the territory of ISIS that has little to no access to proper healthcare.
  8. it does if the fine corresponds with the resources of the individual in question. Are there any other answers or solutions? Yes, most definitely but at the end of the day a fine that corresponds to the individuals resources is much better than one that is geared towards a one size fits all solution.
  9. Yes understood, but at the end of the day we are trying to increase the penalties so that everyone who commits an infraction knows that they were punished rather than make it truly fair.
  10. Basic economics is that if some infraction that is normally dealt with through a fine is applied to two different people with two different incomes one will be hurt more than the other. For example, giving me a $200 ticket for whatever it is will hurt me and make me think twice about my actions, its not enough to seriously hurt my finances but it will hurt whereas the same fine is applied to someone who makes 5 times what I make and it loses its punch. Basically the punishment for the infection is tailored for the person who committed the infection and their resources. Just because someone who makes 5 times my income will be punished proportionally for their infraction will not make me go out and commit the infection since I will get a fine that hurts me based on my individual situation.
  11. How would it be unfair to the poor? It essentially levels the fines. This makes it fair because a fine that has a severe impact on me does not have the same impact on someone making 5 times or 10 times my income.
  12. For me a $200 fine is a deterrent, even though I don't live pay check to pay check that much money stings and therefore it deters me from committing the act that would bring about the fine. Fines based on income make sense because people start thinking of the fines as actual money as opposed to pocket change. We are talking about fines that are based around real money and by that I mean $200 is a deter ant for me because it is significant sum but for someone else $2000 might be a deter ant while $200 might be pocket change. Some feel it a lot while others not at all.
  13. How would that work? The idea is to make a fine hurt you no matter what you make. If you make $250,000 a year being fined $200 is not the same punishment as if you were making $25000 a year. It is meant as deterrence plain and simple.
  14. By our simple proximity to the US(Geographical, political, economic etc…) we are a target, for us to stop being a target we have to essentially commit national suicide economically. Do you think that those terrorists would have been peaceful if Canada had no involvement in Syria/Iraq? Don't you think that they might have found a different reason for them to commit acts of terror against us? You have made it pretty clear that you want those individuals to leave Canada so that no Canadians die, but if we weren't involved in Syria and Iraq they would still be going to want to join ISIS and they would still be just as dangerous when they come back.
  15. And if they had actually gone overseas and had any kind of training they might have been much more dangerous causing more casualties… letting them go fight for ISIS while hoping they get killed is not a plan, they could have caused mass casualties with the resources at hand and they didn't, letting them go to get trained wouldn't make them any less deadly. And dozens of innocent Iraqi's, Syrians or Kurds might be dead… but then again apparently Canadian lives are more important, I guess we can save on prisons if we export our violent criminals to Iraq and Syria as well… right? It is OUR problem to deal with not women and children on the other side of the world… I get the sense that you value Canadian lives above others especially since it will be Canadians doing the killings. Let me ask you a question: Are you opposed because you think it infringes their rights or is it because you think it is better that they kill someone far away and out of sight instead of one of us?
  16. I am not trying to get in to a piling match either, what I am suggesting is that we prevent those who want to join ISIS from doing so, I have no desire to see random people being denied movement to Iraq, Syria or Turkey if we don't have proof they intent to go there and do harm to our troops, our allies or the citizens of those countries. Putting someone under investigation requires time, money and manpower and none of those things are unlimited. When the RCMP identifies a potential threat we need to contain that threat as opposed to allowing them to leave the country, receive training and subsequently return to Canada with training and experience under their belt. We cannot stop everyone nor can we Identify every potential threat but we have to try as best we can and keep those with terrorist ideologies from getting the experience and/or training to make them that much more dangerous. How do you prove someone fought for ISIS in Iraq or Syria? Or received weapons, training and funds from them? We cannot stop all who desire to fight for ISIS from going but we have a duty to identify and prevent as many as we can and unfortunately it will not be a very likely scenario for us to throw every one who comes back from fighting for ISIS in jail for treason. But not stoping them from going and being unable to subsequently prosecute them seems like the worst option of the bunch. Then what is the solution? Letting everyone who idolizes ISIS go and join them to rape, murder and oppress women just because they had the nerve to learn? To work? I, like millions of Canadians have no problem leaving the country because I do not go to other countries to rape, murder or oppress anyone, I do not go to other countries to commit what equates to warcrimes. There are enough of our citizens who are committing atrocities with/for ISIS, the last thing we need is to allow more of them to go. So we sent in observers to document everything so we can prosecute returning terrorists for their crimes in Iraq and Syria? I'm sure the oppressed and dead will be very grateful for our prompt actions. Would you feel the same way if the RCMP know, not think but know that someone desires to go and join ISIS only to return a year later with training, experience and funds to start killing people In Canada?
  17. Yes it is a complex problem, but then again what can we expect from you. It seems you are in disagreement with reality. I have no fear or hatred of Islam, I have hatred for those who use that religion to oppress and murder people who don't follow their religion, killing women simply because they are educated, fight for their rights or know their own worth as a human being... You cannot comprehend how people outside of Canada live because you are sheltered and have not seen anything of the world outside of Canada's borders.
  18. I guess simple minds cannot comprehend complex problems...
  19. The same way it is being done now, by conducting investigations and collecting evidence. Obviously not everyone is going to do something to end up under investigation but if they do it is our job not to allow our problem children from going to other countries and slaughtering innocent people. And if they don't do anything to arouse our suspicion, well we cannot do anything about it but ultimately we have a duty not only to ourselves and our allies but we have a duty to the people of those countries to avoid dumping more of our problems on them. There are several aspects to this, one is our own security and that of our allies while the other is our duty to prevent our citizens from wreaking havoc on the population of another country or group of countries.
  20. PLease for the love of god don't join in on conversations you don't understand. If you don't understand, just stay in your very narrow lane...
  21. If you want I can use smaller words just for you… If you have comprehension issues please say so and we can go from there.
  22. What does it matter if we flag them? RCMP does not have the resources to give the attention every returning terrorist needs in order to make sure that they did not return in order to commit acts of terror… What happens to those who go overseas to fight for Canada's enemies and end up getting hurt, do we foot the bill for their healthcare? If suddenly they change their mind and want out do we have to facilitate their rescue? If they run afoul of ISIS do we risk SOF to save them? What happens if they engage Canadians? If you support prosecuting shote who return from service with ISIS for treason, why not support the effort from preventing those individuals from going there in the first place?
  23. What is your point exactly? Guess you forgot to have any point in your post...
  24. What are the chances that we can keep someone(a Canadian Citizen) who fought for ISIS out of Canada when they decide ISIS is not their cup of tea or when ISIS sends them back to Canada to set up a cell? I am all for letting the go and fight fro any Terrorist organization they desire but as long as they forfeit their citizenship before they leave Canada. Forget treason, if one hates Canada so much we should allow them to relieve themselves of the burden of being Canada. Failing that, we should keep them from going and joining our enemies, getting training in order to endanger our citizens and allies overseas as well as our citizens at home and in allied nations.
  25. if only you had the ability to use google you might sound less foolish... Turns out the Chinese government is lying since you personally haven't seen any armed officers they must be lying, after all you have been there a few times whereas they ONLY run the country...
