I thought that Trump might screw with Canada after being elected due to past relationship with Trudeau, but I never knew to what extent. I had a couple minor pet peeves myself with Canadian trade, but this is the sort of thing that real leadership would be able to fix with a few phone calls back and forth. To be honest, I sort of agreed with Trump as when it came to Trudeau. I always thought Trudeau was a arrogant douche, and a weak leader. Looking in from the outside, Carney appears to be more measured and restrained. Regardless of his politics, he seems like a guy that you could have a long polite conversation with and make a deal. He is what Canada needs right now when dealing with the likes of Trump.

HOA's can be a real PITA in some areas for sure, but they can be put in their place if you're right and are bulldog enough to stay on em. Had a situation where I thought the architectural committee of our HOA was out of line because they gave me a warning about my new roof color not matching the original. (from a ugly brown to a light charcoal color) The new color actually has a 10X better curb appeal and the new HOA president agreed finally after 3 months. On the flip side, they work well overall in my zip code because we have a lot of property owners in the area who rent out to section 8 families who can ruin a neighborhood almost overnight. Not all, but a lot of section 8 families could care less about getting to live in a nice house, or showing a little respect to their neighbors or the properties around them. 1. They destroy the homes inside and out. 2. Park their junk unregistered & uninspected cars out front, or literally abandon junk cars right in front of other people houses. 3. Unsupervised kids running around streets at 1-2 in the morning looking for trouble and tearing up other people's property. 4. Music blaring from porches, back yards, or their cars that can be heard a 1/8 mile up the street at all hours. 5. Front and back yards trashed out. Wrappers and 7-Eleven bags strewn about. Grass not cut for months. 6. Their kids intimidating and beating on other kids. 7. Cops constantly being called to the property for domestic violence and other public disturbances. 8. Intimidating their neighbors when they are politely asked to quiet down at 1 in the morning. My HOA now takes an aggressive stance against these owners/renters by taking a lot of pictures, handing the occupants written warnings, mailing written warnings to the owners, and documenting police calls to the property. It can take over a year sometimes to remedy.

This OP is a prime example of why social media has been turned into a social contagion over the past 20 years. As an American, I would be embarrassed to make some of the statements that are being thrown out here. Canada isn't going anywhere, and it sure as hell isn't going to be part of the US. Why would they? I have a few minor pet peeves with Canada myself, but Trump did nothing more than embarrass himself and the USA with his misinformed rhetoric leading up to this crazy tariff war with our northern neighbors. Canada, England, and Israel have been our three closest allies for a very long time.............and Trump decides alienate Canada over some petty lumber and dairy tariffs? Years ago, a President or Prime Minister would have picked up the phone and settled a petty dairy and lumber disagreement before it got out of hand. Years ago, a President and Prime Minister would pick up the phone if they had a border issue. But no, Trump decided to make it a 5 alarm fire in the media before making the call. I'm not saying that Canada is 100% innocent with the price wars, and I won't say that Trump hasn't done some good things in his first year................ but he most certainly screwed the pooch with our northern neighbors.

Although expensive, nuclear powered or AIP variant subs are the way to go for RCN because that they have far superior arctic endurance and can hide under the cap for longer periods of time. Diesel electric boats are not the best choice in that environment. Submarines are still the weapon of choice if you can afford them, and will be for a long time. But I do know that some of those people beating on the cops deserved every bit of punishment they received.

The problem with Bernstein is that his opinions are very selective and biased. He mostly writes on issues that cater to his liberal readership so he can remain somewhat relevant. If he truly cared about truth, decency, and writing about facts, then he would have been writing the same thing about Biden's 48 years of lies. His book on Hillary was a joke. He could have saved himself the hassle of writing the entire 640 pages of "blah blah blah" by just saying what everybody already knew................. that Hillary was more than happy to put up with Bill's sexual escapades so as long as she could get a run at the Senate.

America is in a very bad place right now and I don't see a way out because the two main political parties have turned into war camps. A recent poll among voters was real eye opener for me. About 30% of voters believe that political violence is acceptable. Too many American voters are being lead by vitriol.............. instead of the battle of ideas.
