This just in! America defeats America!
Down East replied to John Johnston's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Shit happens. Democrats have killed hundreds of American citizens by allowing criminal illegals into the country. -
Yeah.....and the US is spending almost a trillion dollars a year in interest on the spending. Why don't you shut up? Biden was giving away billions to scammers.

Tourism to the USA is cratering
Down East replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ahhhh......the isolationism thingy again? Who exactly is the US isolated from again? Some tourists? Name a single European country that has stopped trading with the US............ that was a year ago? -
Tourism to the USA is cratering
Down East replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The US will adjust like it always does. It's not like it's the first time that certain businesses have suffered under policy changes...................and that goes for ignorant Democrat enacted policies as well. But of course, you and the rest of the hard core lunatic liberals will ignore this fact. -
Tourism to the USA is cratering
Down East replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
My relatives and their kids are all mostly from Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI......... a couple live Montreal these days. They all made their annual trips down to Maine, Boston,Virginia, Florida, and Myrtle Beach like they do every year. My house had guests off and on from May till Sept this year. They love using my place as stop over, or main visit destination. They have visited the wife and I for the past 40 years and now their kids come to stay as well. Yeah, there's been a dollar hit in 2025 but who the hell cares if some liberal Canadians actually believe that they are going to ruin US Tourism. It isn't going to happen. -
Tourism to the USA is cratering
Down East replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Many reports are stating that the domestic tourism increase in 2025 helped offset the loss of International tourism which is good. I know a lot of Canadians are getting a hard on thinking they are sticking it to the USA and wrecking our tourism industry, but it's only about 20% factual. The fact is............we aren't going anywheres. Covid was much harder on the industry than what is going on now.................and we stuck it out. Many of the US/Can border tourists traps are now directing their advertising to the US consumer instead of Canada, and it's working. Another tidbit.......fewer Canadians are traveling anyways due to a weaker Canadian dollar, inflation, and rising cost of living at home. Elbows up Canada! ..........or is it buttocks up? -
Tourism to the USA is cratering

And fewer Americans are touring abroad. Big whoop! Who really needs to see a bunch of 300 lb. Canadian slobs wearing a speedo and black socks on our beaches anyways. Domestic tourism in the US is up substantially in 2025 to the tune of 900 billion dollars and may pass the 1 trillion mark. The visitations to our national parks and other attractions continue to go up. So anyways, just stay where you are because nobody gives a shit outside of a few niche shops along the border. -
Crockett Was Tricked Into Running
Down East replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Crockett would be just another participant in a Waffle House Youtube fight video if it weren't for her ignorant voter base. She lacks the intelligence for any real intellectual discussions on national issues. She a one trick pony. (race baiting) -
In the past, I at least tried to take liberals and their politics with a sense of humor, but now it is getting to the point where liberals are more than content with killing people and burning down the country for their sick ideologies. I'm taking them deadly serious now. We saw their jovial reaction to the healthcare CEO getting shot in the back. But BUT BUT....he ripped people off. They defended the trans Christian school shooter. Oppressed They laughed at the the two attempts on Trump. Not dead yet? They laughed even harder when Charlie Kirk got blown away by some trans loving sicko. They could care less about the narco gangs infiltrating American towns and cities. They could care less about the violent & unvetted they allowed in. They laughed at four years of lawfare. I don't support political violence now, and I never will in the future. But sooner or later the radical left is going to face a serious reckoning. It's coming. I just hope that my family, friends, and myself aren't stuck anywhere near the violence when it all goes down.

I'm not up to speed with Canadian speech laws, but the UK is certainly gone full tilt against free speech. It's like Europe, Canada, and England are in a sprint race to see how they can "out woke" each other. In England, a basic insult without a single insinuation of violence can get you a free ride to the pokey.

America isn't insulated from anything, so I don't know where you got this idea from. America is not independent when it comes to food. We are almost totally reliant on foreign potash which is needed to maintain our annual crop yields, and to maintain affordable food costs. We import 90% of our potash. The US has the potential to be energy independent, but we are down to about 130 oil refineries and a few foreign or domestic terrorists could easily disable 5 or 6 of them which severely impact everyday life and our economy. Most of out pharmaceutical ingredients are still shipped in from overseas. Don't you think that might be important? Most of our rare earth material comes from overseas.

Trump is as bent as it comes
Down East replied to Aristides's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The Democrats blamed the Republicans over the Iran's continued enrichment. Trump said "hold me beer" The Democrats appeased Chavez and Chavez Light(Maduro) Trump said "get out while you can" The Democrats yawned when Iran and their associated middle east terror groups were found in Venezuela. The Democrats yawned at the Cartels sending their people into the USA to kill, rape, and smuggle. The Democrats yawned about not vetting the thousands and thousands of criminals they allowed into the country. The Democrats said it was the Republicans fault for not signing on a bill to secure the border. Trump said "hold my beer" and secured the border without a bill. The Democrats yawn about the criminals and gangs taking over portions of our major cities. Trump said "hold my beer" The Democrats yawned when the Panamanians & China were cozying up with the canal. Trump said "hold my beer" -

You said that he liked promoting authoritarians. You did not specify which ones. Do you understand now? -

Maduro might question this nonsense. -
I'm retired military. Almost my entire neighborhood is active duty military, retired military and ex military and we are a close knit community. I associate with my active duty military friends every single day on my street, on base, at the club, at the golf course, the exchange......etc. etc. etc. Most all of them are laughing at Kelly and his cohorts, and they think the video was disgusting. There hasn't been a single order that has came down through their chain of command that is anything close to illegal. And, every single member of the military is trained on, and has a full understanding of what a illegal order is long before they leave boot camp. Meanwhile, you think you really know something.

Ms. James Is Indicted
Down East replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Stick to the subject instead of shifting and grouping in similarities.. Mortgage Fraud was the subject here...... which is fundamentally about lying to the federal govt. The Fed's don't need a monetary value when it comes to lying, and you can be convicted something as simple as lying on a federal job application or contractor application. False Statements Accountability Act of 1996 And yes, there have been over 2000 convictions of mortgage fraud going back over just 13 years. There were over 2000 between fiscal years 2013 - 2016 alone. The amount of convictions have dropped dramatically since. https://www.ussc.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/research-and-publications/quick-facts/Mortgage_Fraud_FY16.pdf -
Ms. James Is Indicted
Down East replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
This partisan & activist judge's decision is going to be thrown out. James actually committed these crimes and her own signatures on the loan documents is all the proof that is needed. It's a prosecutors dream case because James can't deny it, cry ignorance, or cry politics. Her fate is sealed unless the US Federal Courts and the USSC justices are arrogant enough to let her slide on crimes that the courts have already convicted thousands of American citizens of. -
Why Are We Doing This U.S. Vs. Canada Thing?
Down East replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Canada / United States Relations
I don't see Carney as a weak leader. He's just not a blowhard. He is trying to make deals with other countries while Trump makes all the noise with his shifting tariffs. If Carney continues with diversifying the Canadian economy and can show at least some signs of success, then Trump's influence will become less of a factor on Canada's economy. Carney is playing the long game here. Regardless of how good the US/Can relations were prior to Trump, I'm still dumbfounded as to why Canada's past leadership allowed it's export economy to be dependent to the tune of 80% +/- on the US.- 223 replies
