First Nations Summit Ends In Disaster For Carney
LinkSoul60 replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've never tried to defend Trudeau or some of his policies here or anywhere else, so why do I need to answer anything for a question I'd ask as well? You can't get your head out of your sorry conservative ass long enough to know what the weather is like, let alone have the ability to think for yourself. What a fool.... -
First Nations Summit Ends In Disaster For Carney

I couldn't care less what you believe about my political affiliation, or really anything else... If you had a brain (an obvious hypothetical) you'd accept that your political hope in Poilievre was lost with the 24% poll lead he had. Unprecedented, and thoroughly embarrassing don't you think? But to answer your question....he's not likeable and has been branded by the Canadian voters as such. Losing a 24% poll lead and losing his own riding attests to that. Reality bites sometimes doesn't it.... π -

Global Warming: Man-Made or Natural?
LinkSoul60 replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You've been provided facts, but you don't do facts. Your argument is 'we're still here' and the 3% of scientists who disagree with the 97% are 'activists'. In your mind, sound arguments... -

I think more fitting is you omitted "electoral system'.... Better suited to read 'Just one more thing that makes the US a joke' -
I glanced right by this.... You are spot on. Keep throwing stuff against the wall so people lose focus of real matters. The 'art of the grifter'

Global Warming: Man-Made or Natural?

If not for voters like Deluge, the world would not have got to know Donald Trump as it has. A big thanks to Deluge and the Maga crowd who find it easier to let Trump think for them, and not worry too much about facts. -
Global Warming: Man-Made or Natural?

Duhhh.... It's obvious... We're still here so what's the problem right Deluge. Hard to believe people can't figure this out.... -
Of course he did. There were 'severe consequences' for Russia if Putin did not agree to peace with Ukraine. Quite the opposite happened in front of the world.... Putin had the world stage to reiterate Russia's position of 'eliminating all barriers' to their land want while Trump cowered with no rebut at all, other than praise of the meeting. Putin accomplished everything he wanted, on US soil too boot. Trump was just there for a photo op and to see if a trade arrangement was possible. The meeting was 'so productive' that he 'probably won't have to think about any sanctions' for a few weeks. That's bowing to Putin.
-
He coulda had a chance if he hada learned how to pivot to what was important to voters instead of playing US style politics, but then Carney came along and as the facts show, not a fair fight for whom Canadian's preferred. The man has a likability problem and is branded as such....it's not going to change.

The master negotiator again bows to Putin in face to face meeting....why. I suppose only Putin and Krasnov know the real answer.... U.S. president reverses course, calls for peace deal after leaving Alaska meeting Samya Kullab Β· The Associated Press Β· Posted: Aug 16, 2025 6:11 AM PDT | Last Updated: 15 minutes ago Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he will meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday after a Russia-U.S. summit ended without an agreement to stop the fighting in Ukraine after three and a half years. In a reversal only a few hours after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said an overall peace agreement, and not a ceasefire, was the best way to end the war. That statement echoed Putin's view that Russia is not interested in a temporary truce and instead is seeking a long-term settlement that takes Moscow's interests into account. Trump and Ukraine's European allies had been calling for a ceasefire ahead of any negotiations.

If I'm the Ukraine I didn't feel good prior to this 'summit', and I'm feeling a lot less good about it right now. I found it odd that Trump said 'I'm going to call NATO, then... Zellensky'. I just assumed he'd mention the Ukraine first. The press conference gave me the impression of an in and out business meeting to set up the next one....which I'm not surprised about. He was like this with the doting of Putin in his first term and he was again today. Something isn't right about that...

Everyone has an opinion right, and wouldn't expect anything other of yours. I'm in the 68% that think otherwise right now though. Then again, it's been pretty straightforward right... Trump's been straight up, easy to deal with and really hasn't tried to hurt any of our industries, and why would China have a problem with our EV tariff and recent steel tariff. Couple quick conversations and those countries should have been resolved. Throw in Smith's daily complaining about a pipeline that nobody has offered to pay for and the fact 500K new homes haven't been built yet, and it's getting hard to see why the other guy wasn't elected. It's what we got though so hopefully he's learned some people and business skills along the way that will help him get up to speed quickly....
-
Schooled.... Haircut tweets something out before Carney did because he's got nothing else to do all day while the other guy has a real job, and that's being schooled? He's unemployed, has no qualifications for the real world, fighting for his political survival and desperate. Most would be after losing a 24% poll lead, their own riding, and their seat in the house...

It's about the province knowing that since 2009, 97% of forest fires in NS have been caused by humans and given the circumstances, they chose to ban people from the woods as a way to better protect their assets, citizens, and peoples homes. Again, I'm not of the opinion that this takes away anyone's fundamental rights nor do I think we're on the road to authoritarianism. I'm certainly not suspicious of government motives in an instance like this. Just my 2 cents... Maybe π€·ββοΈ π

Tariffs will help, but they're drowning in the interest on the debt. Tariffs won't help the consumer though. We'll see indeed. Interesting times.... -

You make very compelling arguments.... A more serious infliction is TDS - Trump Deification Syndrome. It requires no thinking, just believing what a serial liar and grifter says. Some have suggested that those who suffer from this, may wake up one day with an orange hue to their complexion. Scary sh*t.... -

You need to read the background of why there was a surplus in June... But tariffs aside, the CBO said there was another major reason that there was a June surplus instead of a deficit: the shifting of certain federal expenditures from June to May. In its most recent βMonthly Budget Review,β the CBO said that federal spending was lower than it would have been in June because the government made billions of dollars in payments in May that were due on June 1, a Sunday. The Treasury said that some payments for active-duty military, veterans, Supplemental Security Income and Medicare were moved to May because June 1, the normal payment date, was a non-business day. βIf not for those [timing] shifts, the government would have recorded a deficit of $71 billion in June 2025,β the CBO said, emphasizing the word deficit. https://www.factcheck.org/2025/07/trumps-hollow-surplus-claim/ -
Global Warming: Man-Made or Natural?

What??? That's like a physicist having a better chance of being right about the study of ocean life than a marine biologist. You 'live in a great atmosphere'.... with clear signs of oxygen depravation. Damn you're funny! I don't know if we're been doing this since the Reagan days... No need to go into caves though. Maybe we start with a radical idea like putting less emissions into the atmosphere? Just a thought.... Them damn democrats.... -

So only 3 in 10 of these scientists are legit? I find that hard to believe.... If I was betting I'd take the longer odds. You got nothing except 'they're activists'. I'm more inclined to think they're attention seekers or outright contrarians. We can control what we put into the atmosphere, that affects the climate. That's not lunacy.... 'How stupid does a cult have to be?'.... I don't know. The mindlessness of your cult never ceases to amaze me.... -
I don't share the idea that we're one step away from being an authoritarian state. If people generally do their 'healthy outdoor activities' in the now tinderbox woods, maybe they can do something crazy like going to a local park or walking/running on the streets. People have lost homes and livelihoods and we have a group of people who are more concerned about walking in the woods that are on fire. I have a lot empathy for the people that have been affected. I have zero for the people whining about this. Just my 2 cents....

The facts say otherwise, but let's assume there is no 'reliable' data... Same question I had for Deluge - why do you trust the opinions of ~3% of scientists when ~97% of them present the case it's man made?
