Nonsense! Canada's economy will not survive a trade war with the US. The EU is already on shaky ground. I doubt it survives the next four years. Who will we trade with? The despots of the world? Russia? China? India? The Islamic supremacists? Canada needs the US market. We need a NA economic union.

Confused. How is Canada competitive now? We have the lowest GDP in the G7. An unemployment rate of 10%, the highest in the G7 and the highest per capita debt in the G7. Our economy is resource heavy, wholly dependent on commodity price fluctuations. We don't produce anything. We assemble and warehouse. What little we did produce was destroyed by free trade. Politicians still haven't grasped that free trade is a zero sum game only benefitting the weaker economy while simultaneously weakening the stronger. Isn't that what the WEF wants? "You will own nothing and be happy". Still wondering why there is a resurgence of nationalism in Europe and America?

Nonsense. Every country with "sensible" gun laws has seen no change or an actual increase in gun violence. Criminals fear neither the police nor the justice system they must come to fear the victim. As a side note, Switzerland where every household with a resident of military age literally has an assault rifle in the home has one of the lowest gun crime rates in the world!

Another way is to repeal all gun laws. The popular police slogan "to serve and protect" is a blatant lie. The police have not, cannot and never will protect life or property. Their job begins AFTER you've been victimized. Only an armed citizen can protect himself, herself. Gun laws unequivocally prove that politicians have absolutely no interest in public safety.

Then perhaps a little context is required. The success of the American revolution scared the crap out of the ruling British aristocracy, They realized that if they wanted to continue exploiting the resources of any colonies the natives and colonialist would have to be disarmed but it would have to be done subtly. Gun ownership was discouraged in many ways, a well trained and armed police force strict on crime reduced the need for gun ownership. Gun ownership in the colonies became a "privilege" not a "right". The truth of the matter is, however that Ottawa can issue any proclamations it wants without noticeably affecting gun ownership simply because they have no idea where the guns are. Their is currently no efficient gun registry and the previously mandated gun registry was largely ignored by the majority of gun owners. I suspect this was one of the primary reasons the gun registry was scrapped: huge cost with nothing to show for it. The real problem with our draconian gun laws is that replacement with firearms using up to date technology becomes difficult.

Yes it's going to get worse. The socialist will never admit that free trade is a zero sum game benefitting only the economically weaker country. Yes, we can buy certain things more cheaply but at the cost of destroying the domestic market for the affected goods and the resulting standard of living drop. Free trade has reduced Canada to a supplier of raw materials, an assembly and storage economy. Europe has had protectionist tariff's in place for decades on everything from automobiles to milk so it's no surprise that the US is going to protect its economy as well. The only way to combat tariffs is with across the board self sufficiency. It going to take the will, time and money to rebuild what free trade destroyed and Canadians are going to feel the pain.

One of the things the US election highlighted for me was the tyrannical control the CRTC here in Canada has on free speech. Independent media in Canada is virtually non existent. What few podcasts exist are inevitably tied to a political party or mainstream media. Canadian content on Youtube is similarly hamstrung. Am I wrong?
