You think its crooked to accept gifts from a mega donor who has never gotten any benefit from it but it is ok that Sotomayor wouldn't recuse herself when Penguin Random House with whom she has received millions in book deals from.

It wasn't a "surrender" agreement he made a deal that the Taliban would let the current government run the country and if they didn't we would come back. There is a reason there is a request for change of venue. Like it or not this case has a political component and forcing the trial into the bluest district in the country who voted for Biden in almost dictator number already made the jury pool biased against the defendent. The simple fact the judge has donated to Democrats against the rules of the court and his daughter works for a company that does fundraising for only Democrats, should of been enough to recuse himself. Also how does the same "acting" judge get 3 Trump related cases when it should of been random selection. Hell you can just watch the case and tell the judge favored the prosecution waaaaaaaay more than the defense, he limited what defense witnesses could say while allowing prosecution witnesses all the leeway in the world to say whatever they wanted without interruption. The jury instructions were a joke of choose you own adventure, "Here are three predicate crimes that the defense was never informed of and had no chance to defend against and was never actually explained to the jury how it fits with what Trump did that would raise it to a felony and they didn't even have to agree on what predicate crime he intended to commit." He made it super easy for a biased jury to convict. That is why most legal experts agree that the instructions alone is enough to overturn the verdict, not to mention all the other errors made by Merchan on top of that. Judges are supposed to be the referee not the guy on the prosecutions team.

He won't go to jail because the sentence would be suspended while on appeal and he would be able to move about freely. What I think he will do is put him on probation or try to put him on house arrest to limit his ability to campaign, which was their goal the entire time. I am hoping Trumps team is going to try to expedite a federal appeal and try to get an emergency hearing considering the ramifications of this particular case on the election.

Why wasn't Hilary even indicted for any of those, she literally every one of those things and lives in New York and used campaign funds to do it and got dinged by the FEC and was fined for it. Trump wasn't fined for it and they looked into it but the jury wasn't allowed to hear why it wasn't a campaign violation. None of what Trump did was illegal he paid his attorney for legal fees. What was the election interference? Burying a story? If that were the case every politician in Washington would be in jail. No tax tax crimes because he never deducted it. I would think you would have to be able prove the predicate crime and best they got was Cohen pleading guilty of campaign finance violations in his plea agreement which was inadmissible and the judge allowed it. Your just happy Trump got convicted and you don't see what can of worms this has opened up but you will.
