  1. Typical left. If someone dares disagree then they're 'rats' and should be "forced out" by an "exterminator". If you don't like it here - how about you leave instead. You contribute nothing.
  2. No, that's not what 'context' means That may be your own bias perception or your bias perception of others but it's meaningless. You could very easily have a democrat rack up deficits and a republican do so and one be legit bad and the other be legit good, and vice versa. It depends on the context. For example in Canada Justin is racking up MASSIVE defiicts the likes of which we've never seen in our history. And he was doing so during GOOD times. "bad"? Yep. Now - if PP gets in he'll move to balance the books, but if he tried to do that right away he'd have to cut services and spending so bad he'd likely do very serious damage to the economy and cause a lot of damage. He'll have to do it more slowly over a number of years. So he'll run a deficit. Bad? No - necesseary. Not great, but it's the right thing to do. even obama - rising deficits the day he gets in? Not good at all. During the height of the recession? Probably not a bad idea, not the time for massive cuts and a little stimulus might help. So = there you go a democrat who's deficits were good AND bad Context is everything. About the only thing you CAN say is both parties have not taken getting the deficit under control seriously.
  3. Well that will tend to happen after you down a 40 pounder of booze. LOL - would that be the taxes on a bottle of booze? It's a funny thing - i probably make more money than you but you probably pay FAR more in taxes thanks to your drinking. Your fellow canadians appreciate your constant additional donations to our tax base LOLOLOL
  4. You were all pro disney in that other discussion And it looks like DeSantis is coming out on top on this one. Disney tried to have their own people on the board and DeSantis wiped them out and put in his - and then undid everything the disney board had done. Now Disney can pout and whine and cry and threaten but they lost. And just like bud lite others will be noticing and thinking twice about getting woke or 'political'.
  5. Yeah. Well that's the main difference between the "average" left and the "average" right these days, the authoritarianism. The left NEEDS to control YOUR activities to match their ideology and is FURIOUS if anyone else tries to do that with another ideology. Radical authortarian right is no better, but the vast vast majority of right leaning people are more of a 'centrist-conservative-touch of libertarian thrown in. They just want smaller gov't, less interference in their lives, fiscal responsibility. Like you say, the whole "leave me alone and i'll leave yo alone" mentality.
  6. And again....
  7. And just a reminder - the debate will be happening on the 18th this week
  8. Interesting article - i hadn't heard of this guy but apperently he's got a lot more horsepower in the UCP than you'd think https://www.castanet.net/news/Canada/426679/Take-Back-Alberta-pushes-out-one-premier-aims-to-make-its-voice-heard-in-election Take Back Alberta pushes out one premier, aims to make its voice heard in election David Parker is a shadowy figure hiding in plain sight in Alberta’s political scene, now roiling in a May 29 election campaign deemed too close to call. He organized a grassroots movement called Take Back Alberta, which took down one premier, and current premier Danielle Smith attended his wedding. He also organized the vote to elect half the board of Smith's governing United Conservative Party. To some, he is on a noble apolitical mission to return power to the people. Take Back Alberta is a registered third-party advertiser in the election. Its goal, says Parker, is taking Albertans back from apathy. To others, he’s a master string-puller of a far-right band of religious fundamentalists, COVID-19 anti-vaxxers and convoy supporters using the back door to storm the apex of the province's political power structure. The Get Out The Vote (GOTV) portion of any election campain cannot be understated. Parties that get their voters to the polls obviously will tend to beat those who don't, even if the other party is actually more popular. Ontario's last election is a classic case of what happens when the vote stays home for the libs and dips. If this guy is organizing to get people out and voting that will make things harder for the NDP in a lot of ridings. Ahhh well - we'll see.
  9. Wow - so upset that she went right to the memes The left is furious about this. The fact is disney really can't move very effectively. DeSantis is schooling them pretty hard (haha) and at the end of the day they'll likely have to back down and take their lumps. They'll never get what they want anywhere else that's got a suitable climate. And the left is very concerned that this is going to wind up as yet another 'get woke go broke' moment. Disney already got the snickerdoodles kicked out of it by star wars fans and hasn't fully recovered from that little "woke" episode, and after this i suspect they'll make a point of not picking fights in the future, or certainly not nearly as aggressively. And once again it's a message to business - 'even mighty disney does badly when it pushes a woke agenda'. They'll start thinking "Maybe we should just make products and run our businesses". And that is VERY damaging for the left. They are quickly losing corporate america as an ally and that makes it MUCH harder to push their agenda forward.
  10. That can be hard to say tho - if someone has a mental health issue can we be sure they're really of 'sound mind'?
  11. Sure kid And you with more posts than me jumped into a conversation you weren't part of to attack me to prove that you're not like that LOL Well there you go. now - why was that so hard? Pot meet kettle. Kettle this is pot If your assertions about me were true you wouldn't need to say them either. But - you have to because you know they're not. And you're so frustrated that nobody sees it that way. SO much so that you had to jump on here and attack me because you're frustrated that someone is smarter than you. And yes - that IS self evident. The only reason i have to bring it up is to point and laugh at your rather pathetic display of bitter resentment Dude - you just attacked someone out of the blue to claim they attack people out of the blue. You claim i post too much while you've got 7 thousand posts. Simple fact is ike most on the left your'e a hypocrite and a dishonest player. Contrarian says nice things about you time to time so you've decided to make an ass of yourself. Your inability to cope with your own failings are NOT my fault or my problem. Are you going to start following me around and attacking each post too, like that loser? You come across as being childish enough i suppose.
  12. Well - the mental health aspect does create some problems. In some ways its exactly when some people would like to go. ON the other hand it's when people are most likely to make bad decisions. Like i said, it's an act of love in my world. Don't get me wrong - it would be horrid and i'd need to take some time away from work and people to get over it, but that would not hold me back. I know her and i know she absolutely means it.
  13. Really, So you just jumped into a conversation you didn't read, Ok - can you at least agree that anti jew slurs coupled with slurs against isreal are unacceptable? Sure. I stand up to you and regularly kick your ass and point out when you're completely full of shit. He does not. You'd think that at the end of the day right or left that Jew Bashing would be universally shunned. But it seems like the left just has a bit of a hate on for jews these days and honestly i can't figure out why. But - you do you. You're a hyocorite and dishonest in the extreme. He's a drunk jew hater, You make a lovely couple.
  14. Side note - my mom has made it VERY clear that if she's ever mentally damaged or in a coma - or if she ever comes to us and says 'it's time' that we are to do what we need to in order help her obain such relief medically without putting up resistance other than a few 'are you sure's'. In short, to help her die when she wants to, and i absolutely would do that without a seconds hesitation if and when the time comes. In fairness some days she makes that decision easier than others But still - i would do it and tho it may break my hard to see her go i'd consider it an act of love in the circumstances. I'd want the same for me in similar situations.
  15. well some argue it that way too. The thing is media stations who were prepared to talk about the story were threatened (and in one case banned) from twitter and facebook etc. With the threat it would be permanent. So - it wasn't JUST they didn't report, there was active efforts to repress it as well. A lot of people get their news from facebook and twitter etc. There were even threats that if they published stories about it on their own platforms and newspaper sites they would be kicked from twitter or facebook because they were engaged in spreading 'fake news'. which we now know was quite true - it definitely was hunter's notebook. Oh yeah - its a big deal and they're still looking at charges - and the important part is some of the emails implicated joe biden as potentially being "in" on taking money from various nations. So there's little doubt it had POTENTIAL to affect the election meaningfully. Whether or not it would have made a difference to the actual end result can't be said of course but you can see why some consider it 'cheating'. I get that. It's not a completely unreasonable position - but at the same time it's not NOT cheating. Its definitely a deliberate attempt to interfere with the election by not just refusing to publish a story - which honestly i consider to be pretty damn bad in an election - but to actively force others not to as well. Using your definition i'm not sure you could say it was cheating by that def ... but you sure as hell can't blame those who define it a little more loosely as feeling like it was cheating. well - not quite true. Lets remember - some of pretty much all of that happens every election in the states, and they did indeed find some this time. It would have been mildly surprising if they didn't. however - the number of instances they found could not possibly have affected the outcome, so while there was fraud it didn't impact the outcome. There's always some fraud or glitches.
  16. LOL - i had a girl yelling at me for being a hunter and abusing animals when I should just be a vegetarian. She was wearing a leather jacket and shoes at the time I don't have the recording any more but we did have it on tape for a while and it got big laughs every time
  17. That's right uncle ben worse - she can't call you a nazi. Yes - and when she gets like that she memes An honest person of colour who needs no one to be professionally offended on their behalf. Well .... we can't have that.
  18. It's known as 'sealioning' - bleating and demanding links with the intention of running the other person around and then discrediting the info. One tactic is as you describe - "Oh THAT isn't an impartial source!!". The next is to use one oft heir many favorite buzzwords. such as "you're moving the goalposts" or "but that was a different time/stiuation/place that is not a precisely perfect copy of what i was describing" or "What they REALLY meant was..." or the old reliable "that's not a definitive answer, that still leaves room for doubt" etc etc etc. They will demand a level of precision that's almost impossible to reach from a source that they can't find the slightest fault with describing a PERFECT match - and if they get it, they just deflect to the next topic without even acknowledging it - and then will say the same lie the next week.
  19. Deficits are neither good nor bad in and of themselves. It all depends on the context. Obviously in a general sense deficits are to be avoided but there are definitely times when they're a good idea, and times when they're a horrid idea.
  20. well... depends how you define 'relevant' i guess, but i think by most reasonable definitions.. no
  21. Probably not. We'll see if he even wins this seat - he'll have to win it again during the next election too and i'm not sure even if he takes it this time that he'd be able to then
  22. Yeah, well if such a thing were to happen i suspect they'd be targeting the soft 'mushy middle' that tends to decide most elections. But - i just don't see it.
  23. The knowledge of history that kids come out of school with is beyond inadequate. basically they're aware there was history at some point but that's about it. Not only is it limited, but obviously that is the most likely place to see ... ahh.. "Creative editing" of history .
  24. Ok, well then my counter position is no There's the door Well kind of what my point was. There are other programs and many of them. Just about everybody wouldn't, Learn to cook dude, it's not hard In canada with possibly the exception of the last 6 months or so if kids are going to school hungry they have negligent parents. Or they're on a diet. The malnutrition rate in canada is a fraction of what it is in the states, with the programs we have there is no way kids go hungry otherwise. I'll dial it back to %99.00 they couldn't afford hot water? C'mon. That severely stretches credibility. I do get it - i've been poor to the point where i've missed meals. Sometimes it can get that bad. But i also didn't take advantage of gov't programs that i could have, and would have if i'd had kids at that point.
