Another TAX INCREASE ON THE POOR
Rebound replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It’s interesting that Republicans constantly favor taxes which tax all people the same, but suddenly, the policy is a “tax on the poor”. Personally, I oppose regressive taxes in all cases and I agree that it’s wrong to solve congestion problems by pricing the poor out of automobile use. Forcing people into public transportation reduces their job options. The real question: What is the truth here? Fox News is notorious for skewering the truth, so what’s really going on? Is this an actual policy, or another case of “somebody said something”? -
We all have to follow the law, and we can all look it up, and read it from the servers of our state and federal governments. The last thing anyone here should argue is what the law says. Sometimes, it can be difficult to know how the law applies to a circumstance, and that’s when we read the case law. But the Federal law about classified information is very clearly written.

False. NOAA said that sea levels rose 1 foot in the last 100 years and will ride another foot by 2050. https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/us-coastline-to-see-up-to-foot-of-sea-level-rise-by-2050 NOAA is packed with career PhD’s who study satellite data. They’re the best of the best. They are civil servants who have no vested interest in anything besides publishing factual scientific data. “By 2050, moderate flooding — which is typically disruptive and damaging by today’s weather, sea level and infrastructure standards — is expected to occur more than 10 times as often as it does today,” said Nicole LeBoeuf, NOAA National Ocean Service Director. “These numbers mean a change from a single event every 2-5 years to multiple events each year, in some places.”

Corporations are trying to deceive you into believing that, but it’s far from true. The Republican Party has changed to become some sort of conspiracy-laden, hate the liberals, weirdo religion, gay-hating cult. But beneath that veneer is the same thing it’s always been: Billionaires spending gobs of money so that they can keep their taxes low and their profits high, at any cost. Newt Gingrich ran for President and said his first act would be to approve a Keystone pipeline. You have to be a complete fool to not realize that’s it’s because the Koch brothers were America’s largest political donors at the time. Because a pipeline which transported oil from Canada to international shipping ports wouldn’t really benefit America at all, just businesses who wanted to sell oil overseas. As soon as their cartoon characters hit anyone’s political radar, M&M Mars abandoned the characters. There’s your evidence that their agenda is profit, not culture war politics.

Hodad explained why. This is specifically the problem in Washington: You don’t solve problems by throwing gasoline on a fire. Politicians in both parties have enriched themselves while serving in Congress, and it is unethical. It’s not about Nancy Pelosi. Many many Republicans have done the same thing.

FoxNews ONCE AGAIN crushes the Woke competition
Rebound replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If you added up the ratings of the so-called “liberal media” news, they would crush Fox News -
Absolutely true, according to the rules that you made up. But what you don’t understand is that America is a nation of LAW. And Biden and Pence did not violate the LAW. Trump did. What’s the difference? The difference is two-fold: First, the LAW says that removal of classified documents is only a crime if the material was KNOWINGLY removed with the INTENT to keep it. Both conditions must be met. Second: The suspected charges listed against Trump involve obstruction of justice and lying to investigators. Pence and Biden were 100% cooperative; Trump was not. Trump insisted on keeping the documents after not only repeated requests, but even after court orders. Trump himself said he was “negotiating” the return of the documents. There is nothing to negotiate! If I steal your car, am I allowed to “negotiate” for its return? Of course not! Biden and Pence did not negotiate; they proactively looked for the documents and voluntarily returned them. And in Trump’s case, the charges listed so far do not pertain to whether the documents were classified or not. The issue is stolen government property.
