As I understand it, Israel obtained the West Bank and Gaza, as well as other places like the Sinai Peninsula in a war with Egypt and Jordan. When Egypt signed a peace treaty, they took back the Sinai, but didn't want Gaza. Jordan similarly renounced claims to the West Bank, which they had previously annexed and made a formal part of Jordan. Life in these places, as far as I've been able to learn, was pretty much similar as most Arabs elsewhere, except their economic circumstances was better and improving due to proximity with Israel, where large numbers of them worked. Then came the terrorist campaigns against Israeli civilians. That caused the fences/walls, checkpoints, etc. Israel abandoned Gaza a couple of decades back and let the Palestinians do what they wanted. They elected a terrorist group that promised to never stop fighting until every Jews was dead and the Arabs had control of Israel. How's my history lesson?

What the hell is the point you're trying to make? There has never been a country ruled by "Christian Law'. Most of the biblical rules and laws have only ever applied to clerics. But hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world today believe in living under Sharia law, including the majority of people in countries like Pakistan, which sends a lot of people here as immigrants. Your desperate defense of Islam suggests you know NOTHING about it, nothing about the Muslim world, nothing about the nature of Islamists, nor care. In other words, a typical smug liberal hand-waving away concerns about Islam because you assume that, like you, most Muslims don't really pay much attention to their religion. Well, of course, none of them are in your league, oh mighty thinker. Would you like to compare your education and accomplishments with theirs? For example, how many times have you been to the Muslim world? When was the last time you were in Israel? In Gaza? In Iraq? In Syria? How many times have you interviewed Muslim immigrants flooding across the Mediterranean or the Bosphorus Strait? Have you spoken to world leaders, including Netanyahu? How many world bestselling books have you written? That's just Murray. No need to even get into the rest. You act like those countries keep careful records of such things. But you know they don't. That's why you demand an answer. You also know that stonings is only a fractional part of Sharia law. How many women have been murdered, tortured to death in Iran alone for not wearing a stupid piece of cloth on their heads?

The international stats that get published every now and then indicate otherwise. We're even below the US now in access to healthcare. That's sad. No, you twit, people complain because they want it changed. They want it fixed. The only way anything gets done in this country is if a lot of people start complaining about it.

No, I call YOU out on your whining about my not supplying cites in a post where you deleted the cites before replying and didn't mention them.

Centuries ago, though that is based on a mistranslation. Muslims have burned women alive this century. Perhaps you see the difference? Or perhaps you don't care. Which is what I"m doing. What Muslim countries don't hate Jews? None in the Middle East, that's for sure. Not Pakistan or Bangladesh. None in North Africa. Indonesia? Nope, they don't like Jews. Not Malaysia. They hate Jews. What prejudices? Prejudice suggests pre-judging. I'm not pre-judging Islam. My views on Islam are based on the actions of Muslims over the past twenty-five-odd years, and what I have heard fairly reasonable people like Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and Douglas Murray tell me about this religion. All of those guys are atheists, btw. So they don't have a boat in the race. They're not big fans of any religion. How much do YOU know about Islam and the Muslim world? Because I gotta tell you, you come across as incredibly ignorant, as virtually knowledge-free. Bigotry towards Jews is based on who they are. My dislike of Islam and Muslims is based on what they do. You don't get the difference?

Maybe the law was adequate in the days we weren't jammed with foreigners from the more violent parts of the world due to the Liberals, the laws were slack with fast parole, especially for brown people (who happen to make up most of the violent criminals), the judiciary almost entirely made up of social justice warriors appointed by the Liberals, and almost instant bail due to... the Liberals.

I have a friend who was recently an EX at the RCMP HQ. She said that there was a firm rule that came down from above several years back that no training platoon could be started until and unless it had a required percentage of identity group members. So if you don't have enough minority members and women, all the white men who have been approved for training don't get the phone calls. Since there's a lack of minority group members who want to be police and who can meet the standards and pass the tests, this has had a negative impact on RCMP numbers. BTW, same thing at Border Services and, I suspect, the military.

This is a big country full of violent criminals. Such things do happen frequently. Except in most cases, people don't have any way of defending themselves. We only really hear about it on the few occasions when they do. I'm also more willing to give people the benefit of the doubt when attacked in their own homes by strangers who have no business being there. There's nothing to talk about. We must spend trillions on climate change despite it having no impact or we're not good and moral people. And all problems with the economy are because of Donald Trump. The media has spoken.

So you can only use your shotgun as a club until what time? What if he's bigger/stronger than you, or a better fighter? What if having a shotgun pointed at him doesn't deter him from jumping you? Sam Harris once said that when it comes to police struggling with someone, every fight can be a fight to the death, because if the policeman loses the fight, the person he's fighting can take his gun and kill him. Under the present law, an assailant can walk towards you as you hold your shotgun on him, grab it, take it away from you, and use it on you, and you're not allowed to shoot him.

Got a cross to burn on someone's lawn? A swastika to paint on the door of a synagogue? Welfare cheque to pick up?

What a cheap little fart you are. That was the first line in a post that contained a number of facts. Evidently, those facts were not ones you felt capable of denying, so resort to a cheap ass cut and one-line retort. Go away, you pathetic little twat.

I don't live in a burg. I live in one of Canada's biggest cities.

Bribe people like the Liberals and NDP do? You realize that, like a Ponzi scheme, that has an inevitable end, right? It's called Greece.

Much like Jean Chretien, Ford's popularity is more a feature of the unpopularity and disorganization of the opposition. Then too, a lot of liberal minded people think, well, why vote for the Liberal when we already have a liberal in power. How are they conservative? Enlighten me. Yeah, only the far right believe in balanced budgets!
-
If you think the Liberals have EVER pivoted away from their tried and true election formula of scaring Canadians, you know nothing about Canadian politics. Btw, you guys act like Poilievre's numbers plummeted. They didn't. Instead, the NDP vote melted away and went to the Liberals. Poilievre couldn't have imitated Ford because federal Conservatives want their party to have conservative policies.

In what way is Doug Ford right-leaning?

Nobody gives a damn what's happening in the burg you live in.

The term was popularized by the Muslim Brotherhood. https://europeanacademyofreligionandsociety.com/news/islamophobia-the-origins-of-a-confusing-concept/ That's kind of amusing given that when Islam takes over a country the first thing it does is kill hundreds of thousands of lefties. Ah, but they're going to integrate and become just like us! When? Because change comes awfully slowly to the Muslims. For example, around about the year 1200 the Muslim world largely did away with science and philsophy. The only thing anyone needed to study, their rulers waid, was the Quaran. Barbaric, yes? You'd think that wouldn't have lasted long. But it's barely changed to this day. Only 4 Muslims have ever won a nobel prize for science and all were working in the West. So when do Muslims change and integrate? Canada studies NOTHING about its Muslims. We know nothing about their crime rate other than the constant parade of Muslim names in the papers. We know nothing of their employment rate and nothing about whether they are or are not integrating. Studying such things is not considered acceptable here. What if the study suggested bad things about Muslims? We can't have that! In the UK, though, a number of surveys have been done and found the attitudes of Muslims there are quite hostile to the West and Western ideas. A study of British Muslims last year showed only 25% thought Hamas had commited any crimes on Oct 7, and only 24% have a negative view of Hamas. 57% want compulsory use of only Halal food in all schools and hospitals. Only 23% think it undesirable for there to be Sharia law in the UK. But hey, 27% think it would be undesirable to outlaw homosexuality. And it doesn't get any better in those born and raised in the UK. https://henryjacksonsociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HJS-Deck-200324-Final.pdf

Gee, I dunno. Could it be the crime and disorder in the streets? The shuffling mass of homeless drug addicts? The crumbling streets and bridges? The impossible mass of bureaucracy and red tape that makes it almost impossible to build anything remotely on time or on budget? The open borders we aren't capable of defending? The mass of unintegrated people from third-world shitholes roaming the streets? The healthcare system often WORSE than in the third world? You do realize that we have 3rd world immigrants who live here who go back home to access timely healthcare, right? You know that's a thing, right? How nice for you. My friend has been trying to find a doctor for a year now to treat her multiple issues. So far, no luck. Like 17% of Canadians, she has no family doctor. I myself have one but had to go to Montreal to get some really basic surgery done because there's an 18-month wait list to see a surgeon for non-urgent cases here. The wait times at hospitals are the longest they've ever been. But all you seem to care about is you.
-
Life. Plus, there's this, which shows that less than a quarter of Canadians could get quick access to their doctor - presuming they had one given 17% don't have and can't get a family doctor. That's the lowest of all countries studied, btw, certainly lower than in the US. Added to that is the long wait times to see specialists, averaging 30 weeks in Canada. Much longer than in the US. All in all, you can get faster access to health care in the US than in Canada.
