  1. Biden couldn't win conservative support if he walked on water. American conservatives aren't really conservative and only care about hot button issues involving sex, guns and abortion. And cutting taxes, of course, no matter what that does to the government or who it hurts or kills.
  2. The BQ are as or more crazed for climate change than the Liberals. Of course, them coming from a province blessed with huge hydro electric assets makes that more than slightly hypocritical, but then everything they say is hypocritical.
  3. There's an old axium that says if everyone you meet is an a$$hole maybe it's YOU who's the a$$hole. You should consider that.
  4. Sure. Woke law schools that indoctrinate their students, and a government that chooses judges primarily on their wokeness, as opposed to legal knowledge, experience, wisdom or intelligence.
  5. One can understand why they would attack Israelis without agreeing there was the slightest justification for the brutality inflicted on ordinary Israeli citizens; gang rape, torture, burning babies in ovens, chopping off the limbs of children or their mother's breasts for fun before cutting their throats or shooting them... None of this has the slightest hint of justification to any civilized human being. Ergo, the attackers were not civilized human beings. They were savages. So give some thought to the society, culture, and values that can spawn so many savages.
  6. Possible. But I've seen nothing to indicate that there is unrest in Gaza directed against them. The few polls taken that I've found on google seem to indicate that if another election were held last month they probably would have won. Some indicate they might win against the PA in a 'palestinian wide' election, though that edge is narrow and often in the other direction. There is, at any rate, a lot of support for them, as evidenced from the cheering crowds when they returned from their attack with hostages.
  7. I'm quite sure this isn't a serious attempt at an answer as you know full well the difference between conservative views on women - which are largely the same as liberal views on women - and the views of very religious people from the developing world. I never yet met a conservative, regardless of how far right, who believed women should cover their hair, never mind their faces at all times and wear voluminous robes to hide the shape of their bodies from lustful men. Nor that believed those who don't were whores.
  8. Most of the problems with the 'bad' students come from their parents' lack of skill in parenting. Not to mention lack of interest in education. But the reason the 'bad' students are left in among the class and undisciplined are due to the educrats who somehow believe sweet talking and gentle remonstrance will eventually correct their disruptive and often violent behaviour.
  9. Almost no one blames the actual teachers as opposed to the education system or school administration or school board or ministry of education.
  10. Of course, this leaves out the fact the Ministry of Education sets the curriculum and can order the school boards to do whatever it wants done. And it leaves out the ideological teachings of teachers colleges and universities which produce the educrats who wind up populating the higher positions at all school boards as well as the Ministry of Education.
  11. People who call themselves 'progressives' tend to be largely illiberal, in that they're opposed to freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of thought, etc. They also tend to support racial segregation, which no self-respecting liberal would agree to. And a large number of them are antisemites.
  12. And Gaza voted in a terrorist group committed to the establishment of an Islamic state throughout the region. Even the moderate Muslims would qualify as far right in Canada in terms of their social views and views about women and sexual minorities.
  13. Someone who is 66 probably uses a lot of healthcare. Are you prepared to do without it? Are you prepared to sacrifice your pension? Because you can't have them if we import millions of impoverished, largely unemployable people. By the way, do you have any daughters or granddaughters? The people you want to import come from a religious/cultural background which says western women and girls are basically whores and should be punished. Have a look at what happened to the rape rate in Sweden when they invited in a bunch of refugees from the middle east and north Africa. You might also examine the Most Wanted list put out by that multicultural wonderland called Toronto. Consider that the real problem is your apparently enormous ignorance.
  14. Are you saying they're too difficult for you to understand? I included links for you to follow. At no point have I ever suggested the shortage of doctors or nurses is new. I'm not whining about anything. I'm simply trying to correct your evidently uncorrectable certainty that the government does not set the numbers of medical and nursing school training positions.
  15. Have you ever lived in Canada? You don't seem to know very much about it or its government. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/medical-school-students-1.6796481 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/medical-school-students-1.6796481
  16. Let me explain this again. There is huge competition to get into these classes. There are far more applicants with high marks than the nursing schools can accept. So they raise the requirements higher until they can winnow those numbers down to just those they are allowed to accept. But many of those who fall below that level have very high marks and could get in if they hadn't artificially raised the requirements. Yes, I already said that. That is why the government cannot increase the numbers too fast. They have increased both nursing and medical school positions, and also the residency and coop positions they will fund, but they can't increase them as much as we need yet. There are ways of adjusting those desires. You can, for example, pay part of or all of a student's tuition in exchange for them agreeing to work in areas the government wants. Yes they did. There is no argument on this. The government sets the number of nursing and medical school positions as well as the number of hospital residencies and nursing coop spaces.
  17. The numbers they are permitted to admit were restricted by the government. So yes, they were all filled, but many capable people were rejected from both nursing and medical schools. Some went on to American nursing and medical schools, or those in other countries. Others gave up and took something else. They set the bar extremely high for both groups because they had so many applicants and could only accept so many. That is the issue in ramping it up. Ontario has increased the numbers three times in the last year as they find resources to train them but they can only increase the seats so fast without the quality of the education dropping measurably. Which is one of the roadblocks and which only the government can increase with more funding. Which they have done in Ontario. I don't know about the other provinces. The feds have put in more money for hospital residencies, as well. But it's going to take a while to make up for a 25 year freeze. And that freeze is entirely due to government policy to limit numbers based on faulty assumptions and formulas.
  18. It seems to be an illiberal progressive ideology that has taken over the educational establishment, from ministries of education to school boards to school administraitons.
  19. This is a strange complaint. I thought by now everyone realized the shortage of doctors and nurses is entirely the creation of government, which spent decades deliberately limiting the number of medical and nursing school positions, as well as the number of sponsored coop (nurses) and residency (doctors) positions needed to complete their training. There is no shortage of dentists. There is no difficulty accessing dental services of any kind. Why is that? Perhaps because the government hasn't been in control of dentists. Same goes for optometrists. You won't have difficulty getting a new one or getting an appointment. Try that with ophthalmologists. The numbers trained for the former don't need government approval, but the latter do.
  20. Everything takes forever to do in this country. Stuff done in Asia and Europe in a matter of days or weeks takes weeks or months here. We had a sinkhole in one of our major cross streets that took months to repair. Japan had a bigger one that they fixed in a few days. We built the Trans Mountain pipeline in 8 months back in the 1950s. We've been working on twinning it for years now with no end in sight.
  21. It's a lack of discipline because modern progressive teaching doesn't believe in discipline. It doesn't believe in punishment, or what it calls 'negative reinforcement', and it most especially seems to feel the need to tolerate almost anything from 'newcomers' who come from different cultures. And those cultures tend to be extremely violent, and none of them, NONE have raised children with belief in non-violence and respect for women/girls or different religions or sexual orientations. How could that NOT turn out to be a problem?
  22. You become more and more of an arrogant dick every day. I posted links, you retarded illiberal twat. That you're too lazy to read any of them because of your towering belief in your own perfection is not my problem. You also are supposed to be ignoring me, you sanctimonious fool. So why don't you go back to pretending how unbiased and neutral and 'above the fray' you are and lecturing everyone else on how they should behave? That seems to be the only thing that gives you a sense of achievement in your miserable life.
  23. Here's more anecdotes from the net My soon to be 12 year old daughter has been having problems with a very specific demographic of boys at her public school. The girls have joined in and have made comments about her not being proper because she's mixed race and doesn't conform to what their parents have been teaching them about how a woman should act and what they should wear. She dresses like any other 12 year old kid I've ever met. It's getting progressively worse with zero intervention by the school. The kid who assaulted mine on the bus multiple times? "We'll talk to the parents". Then "they're banned from taking the bus". But are still allowed on the bus. Nobody has an answer as to why they can ride the bus , the bus driver says her hands are tied and can't tell me more. The "conflict resolution" strategies suggested by the school are a joke. It puts the onus on the kid being bullied to find their own solutions in the face of harassment and violence. She'll be in Jr high next year and the school she is streamed into in our slice of the burbs is worse. Far worse plus weapons and gang violence. The principal and several staff are on leave. I've registered her for an entirely different board simply to avoid her having to go to the school in question. Goodbye ocdsb ****** Principal at Hillcrest was disappeared for trying to get things under control last year. She was accused of racism. She is an acquaintance and from what I’ve seen/heard not racist at all. Once she was removed a chill was put over all other P’s and VP’s to tow the line or suffer the same fate. Does racism exist?…absolutely. Is having rules and behavioural expectations inherently racist?…not at all. But you gotta play the game to climb the ladder. I can confirm, as a former colleague of said Principal, who as a teacher made a name for herself working with at-risk students, that what happened to her was wrong. @few-seaweed-1465 you are absolutely right that this sent a chill through administrations across the Board. Teachers too are becoming less willing to get involved with student conflict or even enforce basic class rules as they fear reprisal from the Board. An incredible number of teachers have been put on leave for “racist” behaviour and with the majority of them this has been unwarranted. It’s a terrible time to be in Education but working in this Board makes it that much worse. This is what happens when you have Director with an agenda and a bunch of sycophants as Superintendents. Hopefully the new Director rights this ship and brings calm and pride back to this once inspiring organization.
