FFS... Well, now that is the stupidest thing you have ever come up with. First of all "Canada has DEI initiativesbut they differ from U.S. models and are not mandated by a single law, though they are supported by human rights legislation and policies. Instead of quotas, Canadian DEI emphasizes equal opportunity, fair treatment, and preventing discrimination based on protected characteristics, which are legally required." So, here are no facts in your post...your link is an American opinion piece with rambling accusations. If you want to claim fact..prove it. LOL

There s a "potential" but, latest poll I saw indicated 58% still consider him to be and remain the leader. "New data from the non-profit Angus Reid Institute finds a majority (58%) of recent Conservative voters want Poilievre to lead the CPC into the next election," "Poilievre remains a popular figure among the “definites”: 92 per cent have a favourable view and 75 per cent want him to stay on as leader. But those who are wavering in their support of the party have more doubts about his leadership as well. The “certainly consider” crowd are divided as to whether they want Poilievre to be the leader after January (40% stay, 38% leave), while the “maybes” want him to go (61% leave)." https://angusreid.org/cpc-leadership-review-poilievre/

Crossing the floor is not new and certainly not a rare thing. "Switching parties between elections is a controversial practice. Still, more than 300 members of Parliament have changed parties while in office since 1867." "Library of Parliament data shows that over the last 25 years, 80 MPs have changed their party affiliation between elections" https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/article/switching-sides-a-brief-history-of-floor-crossing-in-canada/ So, the conservatives demonizing Ma should be an embarrassment to the morals of the entire party.

The term comrade generally means 'mate', 'colleague', or 'ally', and derives from the Spanish and Portuguese term camarada," So, thanks Etymology. The term comrade generally means 'mate', 'colleague', or 'ally', and derives from the Spanish and Portuguese term camarada, lit. 'chamber mate', from Latin camera, lit. 'chamber' or 'room'."

This is about another defection from Conservative to Liberal, not about your political beliefs. He made a decision based on his constituents. He did not need to check with you, LOL "Ma said, “After listening carefully to the people of Markham–Unionville in recent weeks and reflecting with my family on the direction of our country, I have informed the Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition that I will be joining Prime Minister Mark Carney in the government caucus.” Seems he made the right decision and his constituents agreed so, no usupring the will of the people at all. It goes on: "A senior Conservative strategist, who was granted anonymity to discuss internal party matters, told Global News that Ma’s departure is another blow to Poilievre’s leadership as the party’s grassroots prepares to meet in Calgary next month. The source went so far as to suggest the Conservative leader should take his own walk in the snow over the holiday break, referencing the phrase that former prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau used when announcing how he came to his own decision to resign as prime minister decades ago. “MPs aren’t leaving because they’ve suddenly become Liberals. They’re leaving because Pierre has made the Conservative tent uninhabitable,” the source said. “Hopefully he uses the Christmas break to realize that the only departure that will actually stop the bleeding is his own.”"

I think, in the beginning, anyone that runs for politics has reasons that are admirable. The truly think thy can help their community and constituents. I think that within a few months the reality of politics overcomes them and they realize they are peons and have to fall in line. I think that they then either succumb to the party ways or, they have to make very tough decisions. So, are the ones on the back bench living the party line and earning a pension the ones we want to be our voice on the hill or, do we applaud the ones that make difficult decisions and move to where they think they can contribute?

Mr Ma was quite eloquent in hos statement for leaving. He saw that the conservatives (nee PP Le Pew) have nothing to offer Canadians. Get over it.... PP was not even in the house for his own motion and he lost and is complaining. If his party does not see that he will never win..then the party is doomed for second place for longer than even they anticipate.
-
I think the conservatives have good ideas but, as you imply, they have real difficulty getting them across. PP has become nothing more than a complaining laughing stock. I truly believe a new leader will be able to what the conservatives to the promised land (to be the government). The polls suggest many, if not most Canadians prefer the conservative party over the liberals, it is also clear that more then half the Canadians polled believe Carney is a better choice for PM than Polievere. Therein lies the conundrum...dislike the leader so much that the party as a whole is crestfallen doomed to second place.
