  1. I have never heard of corporate donations to the CBC nor, public donations. All is government and advertising money. Or, you can do like they do in Great Britain and pay a BBC TV licence fee.
  2. 1. The applicants qualifications need to be scrutinized and if the certifications are recognized, no problem. 2. Do not understand the point you are trying to make. 3. The medical/nursing schools are full. It takes 4 years to graduate nurses and much longer for doctorsso, there is no way of doing it faster. No snapping of the fingers to get them quicker. There is this unspoken thought that if the government offers more money nurses would pop out of the woodwork. Many hospitals are already offering signing bonuses and=with not much success so...??
  3. Culture? A TV/radio network is not a culture. Because it does not fit your narrative does not make it Bullshit. Having said that, I agree that CBC should stand on it's own and become like other public broadcasting systems. A certain amount of subsidy, public donations and corporate sponsorship.
  4. OK but it is the most accepted definition. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/life https://www.inspiritvr.com/general-bio/introduction-to-biology/characteristics-of-life-study-guide https://www.britannica.com/science/life https://philosophynow.org/issues/101/What_Is_Life
  5. Question was, who would go to the expense and effort to carry out the CBC mandate without government subsidy. The answer is no one.
  6. The CBC was and is bought by whatever party is in power.....and that has been the way since Radio Canada. "The mandate of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC/Radio Canada) is to inform, enlighten and entertain; to contribute to the development of a shared national consciousness and identity; to reflect the regional and cultural diversity of Canada; and to contribute to the development of Canadian talent and culture." Who else would do that without subsidy from the government??
  7. It does not bother me. As I said, not sure if I am agnostic or atheist or both "Life is defined as any system capable of performing functions such as eating, metabolizing, excreting, breathing, moving, growing, reproducing, and responding to external stimuli."
  8. As long as the health and safety rules and regulations were followed, no problem. And yes, there are different provincial regulations.
  9. Your employer was compelled (obligated) to follow all the safety and health rules and regulations that existed. The way they did it or the process and methodology was left to the companies but they had to do it. Industry took the rules and regulations and adapted them to their situations and procedures. And, as will all processes and procedures, training is required.
  10. Redeem themselves? With an apology? Ha, if it was only that easy we would not be in the constant state of indigenous funding we are in now. Sorry... but no more money ? Ha!
  11. Therein lies a problem. There is no or little advertising revenue for TV these days. All broadcasters are having a hard time getting advertising money as are newspapers and radio. There is no Canadian art that isn't subsidized and that goes for journalism too. Seems social media is much cheaper place to advertise.
  12. 2. "Scholars now believe that the stories that would become the Bible were disseminated by word of mouth across the centuries, in the form of oral tales and poetry" 3. 47 biblical scholars in Europe only in a very religious driven Europe.. 4. I am not coming from anywhere. I just do not believe. I am not sure is I am atheist or agnostic.
  13. I agree whole heartedly with your comments. I just do not like and am turned off by any person of faith that forces themselves upon me.
  14. This is all according to your God. The King James Bible is the definitive authority of God? A book written in the 17th Century? 17000 years after supposed Jesus death and who knows how many thousands of years since Judaism began? Where were King James writers getting their info?? By passed down stories?? Thing is, have faith if you want to but, do not push or force it upon anyone.
  15. Who's God? Christians God? Muslims God? Jewish God? Mythological Gods?
  16. The threat conspiracy theorists pose to the health and well being of our world today is precisely why atheists have been vocal about the dangers of faiths for years.
  17. What are you trying to say? Belittling Russian action in the Ukraine?? Supporting Russian actions?? Agreeing with Russian actions?? Deflecting Russian actions to someone else??
  18. Do you, in any way, think a war/invasion/occupation is fair and follows rules? Russia has stated their objectives and are proceeding to achieve them in any way they can. I am pretty sure Russia will get what it wants and Ukraine will be a smaller country in the end and then maybe, just maybe , Ukraine will be admitted into EU and NATO. In the meantime, nations from all over are getting an economic boon in being able to get rid of old munitions and factories are making newer munitions.
  19. The Pope was asked the question of genocide on the plane back to Rome. This is a man whose first language is not English and he is not close to being fluent in English. Does he really know what genocide is, the true meaning, let alone the UN interpretation?? On top of that, like any head of any large organization, he knows how to be politically correct for the purposes of the people he is speaking to. Christians, generally, are more susceptible to conspiracy theories and hearsay because they have been groomed to accept ideas without clear evidence and proof.
  20. So "The only way to head off the violence was an immediate intervention to raise the quality of living for poor people in the country, according to Malema. " meaning? Oh, the white people and "black elite" can pay to raise the quality of life for them? Sounds like what we do with our indigenous yet their quality of life is still low and they seem to be OK with it as long as they get money.
  21. I am sure the post was not directed to you. It was in response to someone else. You seem to fully understand what I have been trying to convey.
  22. Give it up Dude. Your obsession with this guy is scary. The crux of my argument (?) is that the dude was a zero not smart enough to move on when warnings were given and, then to fight or argue back. A sign of a loser zero. Live for the day not for yesterday. Time for you to be a man and move on but it seems you are stuck in the past. LOL Trucker debacle, an asterisk in the anus of Wellington Street history. Here, an award for you LOL
  23. As I told you,the covid restrictions affected me as well and I did not like it. 2 major (already paid for) vacations (and a couple planned ones) completely wiped out and of course, I really enjoyed having to sit at home for a year and a half I don't lash out. I informed, especially you and you seemed to take recourse to the information. You have not given me an opinion to disagree with, only your constant questioning of rules, regulations and laws that you say you know about is is suspect..
  24. I have said enough. Seems you don't know or are not willing to know. Fine. I know what employers had to do before covid, during covid and after covid. I have tried to be respectful and inform you. Accept it or not. that is your choice.
  25. Points what out?? Some employers gave employees the options of following the guidelines or leaving. Not just covid mandates but the health and safety rules and regulations. Stop and think about it. Would you, as an employee want to work with someone that was infected and could pass covid on to you? Do you think that an employer should keep paying the worker that refuses to protect their co worker for as long as it may take for the pandemic to be over? What I am saying to you and everyone, is that employers have far more obligations to their employees than you trying to make a covid restriction. They have had to make safe working environment long before covid. I did not support the mandates because I too was adversely affected. Thing is I am being adult about it and looking at it from all perspectives, not a narrow and closed minded an simplistic point of view. I have a very good overall point of view and do not rest on just a few situations.
