Hey, if the kool aid tastes great to you, so be it.

I carry water for the proper procedures. I believe every person has the right to defend themselves for any accusation thrust upon them. You think an accusation should condemn a person that an accusation makes them guilty. That an accusation can and should ruin a career or reputation or life?? Sounds like you think a person is not innocent until proven guilty.
-
Don't be so naive. Do you really think that Trudeau invented this stuff?? You cannot believe the publlc authorizes expenditures??? How much did you have to say about any budget from any level of government at any level, ever?? Never said that is what they deserve but in our system that is what it is.
-
Yup, the public has very little influence on policy and processes and procedures. if you think they do, you are naive. It has everything to do with having in camera meetings. Things are discussed and decided and if they were openly public, nothing would be accomplished by anyone. There would be too many comments and whiners and objections, just as seen in this forum. Consensus would never be achieved. You voted for your representative to decide for you, over and out, like it or not.Oh and, they do not have to tell you everything that is said or done.

Of course it is not acceptable to you... you disagree. Just Google is Tea Party racists. Have no idea but if I would have linked ABC or CNN or CBC you would have gone ballistic about crappy MSM

I’ve never seen so many vagrants on the street

Yes, real estate was "hot" a few months or so ago. Quite a lot of cooling in the past month or so and it is not climate change. Or maybe it is. Being an old guy, I have seen the real estate market heat up and cool down many times. Government interference in the lines of interest rate hikes cooled it down (early 80's 18% mortgage rates). Maybe that is what occurred lately? Homelessness an epidemic? Cannot say. Why so many? Cannot say either. Too easy to get free money. If there was an answer, it could be helped. I certainly hope you are not saying we should allow the homeless into empty houses fort free?? -
Key word, "apparently". Another key word "allegations". And yes, it is a "horrible look" but businesses often pay off instead of risking publicity. Hockey Canada is not above any other business. And if you think Hockey Canada or Gymnastics Canada or Skate Canada or any other major sports organization is not a business, you are not paying attention. Point I made is allegations are not proof nor necessarily true. Anyone can accuse but without proper charges, proper investigation and trial if required, all it does is besmirch everyone.

Whaaaat?? I post a link to keep you informed and you make that your narrative?? It even indicates you can participate. I will watch just to see what you have to say.... or are you too shy/embarassed to show yourself and your view in person??

Heck, bottom line for me is that if you in any way try to control, regulate or limit the money making ability of any person, businesses, company, you can very easily damage the economy. You can and will drive business and companies out of the country. Profit drives business. Witness the demise of companies doing business in Canada because it costs too much to do business here and limits their profits... off to China, far east, India etc One of the prime complaints of Canadians, especially here on this forum, is government interference and control and you espouse more?? Me, I am for more free enterprise with less regulation. Stifle profits, stifle economic growth IMO. -
Gotta interject before some of the posters stroking each other gets into a frenzy LOL Public inquiry into use of Emergencies Act during convoy protests to start Sept. 19 "the public inquiry that will analyze the federal government's rationale for using emergency measures to quell last winter's Freedom Convoy protests will kick off on Sept. 19" "Protest participants, police representatives, officials from federal, provincial and municipal governments, and businesses and people affected by the protests are all expected to testify about the events that led to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoking the Emergencies Act " "The inquiry will also be live-streamed. Details are expected soon on how members of the public will be able to share their views during the process, the commission added." https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/public-inquiry-into-use-of-emergencies-act-during-convoy-protests-to-start-sept-19/ar-AA10GK15?ocid=EMMX&cvid=08fc4ae225e740059e3b409763e47c77 Live streamed, so y'all can watch. That should drive you into apoplectic fits. LOL Oh and, remember, the entire enactment only lasted 4 days

Hasten registration of foreign trained medical professionals
ExFlyer replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So, moving association/licensing/regulatory head offices to small towns makes them better? What values are contrary?? So what is your solution? To force medical facilitators (doctors, nurses, lab techs, radiologists etc etc) to have to work in rural and remote locations?? Urban and outback?? City or village? Conversation about what? "Hey Doc, you have to work in Fort Simpson for 2 years" ???? Doc says no, I will move out of country. Bye Doc. You cannot force that. -

So, no one can buy a second or 3rd house/building/apartment to rent out and earn income? How much sense does that make?? If there are 10 bidders and they all want something, the one that bids the most wins... not a supply and demand issue but a desire issue. There were lost of houses for sale and people just picked the ones they wanted and bid on it. If they bid enough, the win it. You clearly do not understand the concept of auction and free market bidding. No insult, just stating fact, again. Just to blow your argument a bit farther out of the water. 2021 and so far in 2022, the number of housing units is at a record high.... supply is increased. "On a trend and monthly SAAR basis, the level of housing starts activity in Canada remains historically high, hovering well above 200,000 units since June 2020 and increased from March to April,” https://betterdwelling.com/canadian-new-home-starts-remain-high-but-have-cratered-in-toronto/ " Canada averaged 189.69 Thousand units from 1977 until 2022, reaching an all time high of 330.12 Thousand units in March of 2021 and a record ..." https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/housing-starts -
No, you did not pay attention to what a lobbyist is. A lobbyist is lobbying the people that can do something for them, their company or the organizations that can help them. The "public" has no authority, finances, backing to do any of that. "Perhaps you don't know/believe/care" who actually has the ability to get things moving/doing/finance. It is not the "public" that is for sure. "politicians and public officials " represent you, the voter and you selected them to make the decisions on the programs/policies/procedures that you voted them in to do.

1. Thought we were talking about banking profit reviews? I just questioned the review of them as records are set every year. What review? 2. Not sure what you are saying?/ Go back to more regulation? 3. I cannot see or imaging anyone wanting any limit or to regulate how much money you can make. Goes against every fibre in the capitalism principal. 4. Not sure what "framework" you are speaking of. Rent control? In my opinion, rent control was the cause of shortage of rental housing. Why would a developer or builder build rental units if they could not make money?? -

A whole different debate but I get you and you should get me too. Bank profits have set a record every year for the past 50+ years. Review?? I think not LOL Telecoms are just now getting static from government but, I will assure you, it will pass. Regulating profits in housing will kill development and building of housing. No government (except maybe communistic ones) would even consider such a thing. -

Why do you consider it an insult? I made a valid statement. You make uninformed statements. Homes or any products are for anyone to buy. Speculators and investors buy them to provide them rental units.... to make a profit. Who do you think owns the 1,912,290 units rental units in this country? Other home owners?? Yes you did, you insinuated government, developers and speculators, and still do blame "speculators" "in February 2021 that investors made up 20% of the country's home purchases" Fact is buyers, regardless of who they are, are driving the prices up. Bidding and out bidding is what drives the price of anything up. It only takes two people wanting the same thing to drive up the price. Auctions are prime examples of that and in today environment (actually the environment 6 months ago) housing was an auction scenario. -
A little bit but, it mostly comes from player and club fees and registrations and sponsors. "Hockey Canada relies on government funding for six per cent of its annual budget, "

Not in my city. -
Never said that at all. Seems you do not know what a lobbyist is. Just saying that a lobbyist, by definition is "Lobbyists are professional advocates that work to influence political decisions on behalf of individuals and organizations. This advocacy could lead to the proposal of new legislation, or the amendment of existing laws and regulations." and they are not after public support.

We allow profit in all businesses. How can you limit profit?? Force companies not to sell or manufacture?? Speculation and profiteering only works if there is a market and buyers. Demand is totally on the shoulders of the buyers. Like some here whine about Amazon making record profits and blaming Bezos. Fact is, what made Amazon record profits is us, the buying public. -
As should yours. Sponsors have publicity to keep. Easiest to bail than wait to find out if the charges are valid. Certainly there is evidence there were payouts but, were the claims valid?? Can a baseless accusation result an a cash payout? Not defending anyone, just saying that without actual charges, proper investigations and ability for the accusted to defend themselves, it is hush money.

Not sure what your definition of "public money" is. Players were named. Innocent or guilty, unproven and therefore, reputation tarnished regardless.
