Independent in what way? In my experience, all websites lean one way or another or are affiliated with something or someone. -

Yes, there was constant loud music and honking of horns all day and all night. The private injunction was basically to stop that. With 'parading", I meant being loud, obstructing traffic, harassing businesses to the point they closed. The "liberals" (meaning federal government) did not do anything. It was local policing and then the provincial police were sent in by the province. The RCMP already have jurisdiction on Wellington Street as it is part of the National Capital Commission land (federal property). The OPP and local cops helped RCMP and invoked local laws on surrounding streets. The feds enacted the Emergency Measures Act but, it was never used as the next day the police started to move people out. All issues and charges were under existing laws. Now, did the liberal government handles this wrong? For sure. They could have stopped it before it went on as long and got to the point of confrontation but, they did not. As for fear, there is none. No there anyway. Things are back to normal. -

I already answered you 3 posts before and said "No you did not but I am accused of it quite often when I suggest Trudeau may have done something correctly ". Well, the government and media were not playing loud music all day and night and parading in the streets and harrasing residents... if you are talking about the convoy fiasco. Fear is all who has left? -
Chuckle.... support truckers as long as they don't come to my house LOL Weren't the truckers conservatives?? DeSantis is a farce. On his knees in front of Trump.
-
Yeah, here it is. He supports Canadian truckers protest but... NIMBY..... LOL "If such a protest took place in Florida, the protesters would be removed and charged in violation of Florida’s new “Combating Public Disorder” law, HB 1. Among its many definitions of public disorder, the law prohibits: • Willfully obstructing the free, convenient and normal use of a public street, highway or road by impeding, hindering, stifling, retarding, or restraining traffic or passage by standing on or remaining in the street, highway, or road." Hee Haw LOL https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/opinion/2022/02/12/desantis-against-florida-protests-but-backs-canadian-truckers/6724606001/

There will always be some that talk about it, just like there are always ones that keep the long gone trucker convoy alive.

Do not ever take off that tinfoil hat LOL Look, Facebook and social media in general is an open book Anyone and every one can find things about you and if you have some computer and maybe programming smarts, you get more. You can complain all you want about Zuckerberg (most is untrue) and Facebook but the fact is that people are using it on their own free will. Zuckerberg is a business man, he sees what people are doing, offers stuff and they eat it up. Can't blame him for giving folks what they want. As the great man once said, "There is a Zucker born every minute"

I am not a twit. (is that what twitter users are called?) I also don't jump on bandwagons (I think they are called lemmings).

Hashtag? What is that??

Surveillance of Facebook? Creepy? Don't you think that people that post on Facebook and other social media are doing it to be noticed and are susceptible to be seen and read by all ? Social media is not private and if you say or do something stupid and illegal on them, you will be either reported or caught. You use social media and you are now public.

I can use a lot of levity but, sometimes what is in their head does not translate well to paper. For sure he does but I do not think he was too far out of what was going on everywhere. That does not make me a "leftie". -
You cannot tie Trump to November mid terms. It is historically accurate to say the governing party always loses seats mid terms. "The party of the incumbent president tends to lose ground during midterm elections: since World War II, the President's party has lost an average of 26 seats in the House, and an average of four seats in the Senate."
-
The only reason Trump is not a "criminal" is that he has enough money to constantly appeal and when he runs out of appeals he either throws someone else under the bus or pays out or declares bankruptcy or some other weasel way out. Every court action he has initiated (since being president) has been thrown out, dismissed or proven wrong.

OK Are the travel restrictions for truckers not a US issue? Canada lifted them. Carbon taxes are here to stay, not just in the Provinces in Canada but many other jurisdictions in the World. Better get used to them. (I believe there are more than 25 countries with a form of carbon tax and in the US, they are State jurisdiction) Pipelines? Well, indigenous, provinces and political correctness is screwing that up real good. All federal government restrictions are lifted for employees. Have been for a while now. I am not sure of all provinces and for private businesses. If those were her point, those are easy answers. -

Oh, I do want to understand it, that is why I made the comment. Perhaps you can explain? -
May very well have been but it became dog and pony show that was not acceptable to the Ottawa public. They got an injunction and the protesters at that point made a choice, unfortunate the wrong one. I dare say that of the ones that occupied the streets, very very few we actual truckers. Lots of hangar ons. Even the organizers were not truckers. And, real truckers were not there. So, in the end, they were not glorified but vilified by the public at large. Yes, there were supporters but, they were small in number and belligerent and that did not endear them to the public. Hence, it has become a blip in the year of regular and numerous protests and events in Ottawa and no one (with a few exceptions) really give a rats ass about the "truckers convoy" anymore. It could have been a very useful and important protest but a few clowns screwed the purpose and intent. This is not to start or continue and argument. This is my take on it (I live in Ottawa) . The only place I see or hear or read anything about the convoy is here, on this forum. Only when one of the organizers is going to court or gets extension to court dates is there any mention.

Well, Both Canada and US (pre Biden) have imposed sanctions on Iran that go beyond what the UN requested. The US is very upset with the nuclear issues that Iran has and has prevented Iran form acquiring any nuclear materials. So, no, Trudeau and Biden are not pro Iran (more accurately, Canada and the US are not pro Iran as this stance was before both became leaders)
-
Your "debates" are demeaning. You all but called me a coward. "If you are so coward not to support women and defenseless people then hide and stay out." I deem that as an insult." I get it. You don't like Iran. Is it just Iran or any country that has a religious leadership? Like I said, Afghanistan also mistreats it's women. As does Saudi, Iraq, Syria, Niger, Sudan, Pakistan, Congo and others. Are you just pissed at Iran for mistreatment of women or do the other countries deserve your wrath as well? China , Russia, Vietnam, Cuba and many more also censor and limit the internet. This is information for you to absorb in this debate. Personally, I think you saw something on the news and it outraged you. (as it did to others)
-
No disrespect to your opinion but a dictatorial regime, be it Islamic or otherwise, (but especially a religious regime) will never see the inside of a court. Canada's sanctions are as severe as Canada can make them. As well, the United Nations has imposed sanctions against Iran. These have been in place since 2006. Results of these actions are what? Oh, nothing. Iran is still functioning. How long before Afghanistan follows suit? Afghanistan treatment of women is equally as bad except there has not been any press on women killed there. The media makes the difference. I get your passion but, insulting others opinions and discussions gets you zero support.
-
Canada already has sanctions against Iran. Canada can say what it wants but it carries no weight. We are not exactly on friendly terms with that regime. I said it was an internal issue and they will have to resolve it. You can dream all you want, you can demand whatever you want but, the fact is they will do what they want. No cowardice, just reality.
