  1. The cons got close in the end but prior to the election, they were ahead because of all the liberal faux pas. In my mind, Harper was a shoe in with black face running but even that did not hurt in the end. My point was that despite all the scandals etc of Trudeau and liberals, the conservatives could not take advantage of it and lost the last 3 elections.
  2. So, you seem to agree, as I said, "I think the conservatives have to get out of the "country". Meaning, they have all the farmers and hunters and back woods folks but, they do not have the city dwellers." Call them urbanites if you wish but, the conservatives have to go to them and get them if they want to win. It is clear that the people in the GTA a nd southern Ontario are far more important than those in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba put together.
  3. You would think those "same tired hot-button social issues " would have changed in the past 15 years? But they clearly have not if they still hang over the necks of the cons.. I think the conservatives have to get out of the "country". Meaning, they have all the farmers and hunters and back woods folks but, they do not have the city dwellers.
  4. Yeah but, Trudeau was losing in the polls the last 3 elections, till the last few days before the vote. He was caught "with scandals, all the lying and cheating" back then too. Cons seem experts at finding a way to commit political suicide.
  5. Show me a politician or political party that is not hypocritical at one point or another. Trying to be all things and please e Being a politician is, at best, thinking you are doing something, at worst, believing you are doing something right.
  6. Jack Layton was a political opportunist. NDPers in power change once they are in. Look at Bob Rae. Ontario NDP leader, Ontario Premier, Federal NDP and then became Liberal then Liberal leader then Liberal PM. NDP cannot be trusted.
  7. So you subscribe and buy apps and netfilx instead of cable?? Pot calling kettle? LOL
  8. Chuckle. The government knows all about you already....can you say CRA? SI number? Your creditors know all about you, they can garnish your wages too. Facebook knows all about you and your contacts. Amazon and any online stores knows all about you and your habits. Your health card knows all about you. Your drivers licence is being monitored. Your mortgage company knows you all too well. Your credit card companies know what you are doing. Gotta wake up and smell the real world dude (or dudette) as it already is Sleep well LOL
  9. Wow, the anti paranoia pills are not helping eh? LOL You live on the same planet as the rest of us? Cashless society has been around for way more than a decade. Whining now only make me think you are Rumpelstiltskin and not a wide awake Taxme LOL You got part of it right ....."Face it. You are seriously naive if you think that you can never be tracked by the government if they wish to do so......" except if you think it is cashless society is all that it took, you are completely wrong. Anyone that wants to can track you now, your social media footprint is more likely to be tracked than your use of a debit card LOL Oh and leaders of the trucker convoy had accounts frozen and all except a very few had them unfrozen within a week. You do know any creditor can seize your accounts and funds anytime you default too eh?
  10. "LGBTQ rights group asked the CRTC to ban Fox News over 'false and horrifying claims' made by host Tucker Carlson regarding transgender individuals" is far from CRTC considering LOL The CRTC gets complaints and petitions every day ranging from commercials too loud to swearing on shows. A National Post slow news day report LOL
  11. I think this will be lessened sooner than later or, most will not care any longer. Understanding there always has been a housing problem for some, that will not go away. Anyway, I have no resolution and think if someone has to do what they need to do to get housing, they will.
  12. Yup, you da man LOL Don't bother me at all. If you think you are smarter than everyone else, be smart and think again LOL You suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect .
  13. I did, many many decades ago. Well, maybe go where the work is and living can be affordable? I did.
  14. Not sure where you live but where I am there are hundreds of basement suites. On my street there are more than 4. I have relatives in and am from Vancouver and basement suites have always been there, way back to the 60's. Multi family residences are far from a new idea. Nothing new at all.
  15. There have always been homeless people. The fact there are more can be somewhat attributed to an increase in populations but, before you start blaming immigrants for the homeless situation, how many of them are in tent city or on the streets of east Hastings. Seems to me that homelessness is a problem we have always had and is mostly long time Canadians.
  16. Sorry you don't like it. You have better facts? If not, well, blow harder LOL As an aside, the GTA is only a small part of Canada. Sometimes folks form there refuse to accept they are not in the centre LOL
  17. Bottom line is a very low vacancy rate for rental units so, regardless what the rent cost is, they are being rented. Also, in many cities, if landlords leave the units unrented or empty, municipalities are taxing them.
  18. Investors have always owned rentals. Thing is, being a landlord is an expensive and often, not an enjoyable venture. Being a landlord is a business and if it is not profitable, they sell out and rental units disappear. You are right in what you are saying. Hence, no rentals are being built and if they are, they rent as to cover costs. Yet, as expensive as it is, vacancy in Toronto is less than 2%, Vancouver less than 1% and other cities similar.
  19. Deluge??? 2 to 6% of homes in all of Canada are foreign owned (not just Chinese.) https://news.westernu.ca/2023/01/expert-insight-canadas-ban-on-foreign-homebuyers-is-unlikely-to-affect-housing-affordability/
  20. "The Canadian Housing Statistics Program shows that non-residents only own about two to six per cent of Canadian residential properties in 2020." https://news.westernu.ca/2023/01/expert-insight-canadas-ban-on-foreign-homebuyers-is-unlikely-to-affect-housing-affordability/ Lets not blame what is an imagined situation.
