I hope you are aware that taxes are based on total income? Not "disposable" income? I am not "projecting" anything, I am stating facts. There are 5 tax brackets. The 20% top income tax payers pay more than 80% of all income taxes and all taxpayers can take advantage of all "loopholes". It appears no one else understands your argument either LOL

I do know the operational capability and tasking is quite different between the F/A 18 US Navy carrier based aircraft and the CF 18 Canadian Air Force aircraft, even though I have never worked on or with them them. The operational capabilities of the F-18 (CF 188) are derived from and by Canadian Air Force headquarters. As a 16 year part time soldier, you try very hard to claim you know a lot about the Canadian Military operations and tactics but, you are failing.

Wrong, while sold as multi role, in Canadian configuration, it was very quickly realized it was not. Immaterial anyway as, even you admit, it was never deployed and not even thought of being deployed especially in an expeditionary role. Canada does not and never had the resources to support F18 ops outside of Canada.

No dougie, the army does not fight alone, it is supported by many parts of the Military, ours and our allies. You may be on patrol in your vehicle alone but, you got the vehicle and all the accoutrements from somewhere and someone else.. F18's were never deployed to army support as it is not a ground support aircraft. The Navy has difficulty sailing in the mountains and desert. LOL Those are probably the most foolish statements you have made LOL The Griffons and Chinooks transported and support you throughout. and, as you are, or should be aware, they are not attack helicopters. I am not sure what you are trying to defend. Fact is, the top 20%, # 1 to #20 pay more taxes than the remaining 80% of Canadians combined. What the top 20 or 15 or 1% make is immaterial. They all pay taxes more than any other taxpayer. The tax rates are the same for all groups. The more you make, the more you pay. Taxes are not based on disposable income. Tax shelters and whatnot are the same for the top 20 or 1% or the 80% of Canadians that pay taxes. Your obsession with the tax rate and who pays what and why is unfounded and in your imagination. We all pay and we all can hide it the same way.

Are you trying to say the top 1 to 5% are not in the top 20% group? The top 1 to 5% get the same taxation as all in the top 20. LOL The fact is though, the loopholes are available for all. While you do bring up points, your view and understanding is very narrow minded. You are upset the Army is not getting upgrades yet, they are as well. Your try to compare costs but you cannot . A fighter aircraft and all its technology, test equipment, maintenance, and trainng cost far more than anything the Army has. It costs what it costs. To say the Army is left behind and gets nothing , I dare say the Griffon Helicopters in the Tactical Helicopter Squadrons are for the Army. So were the Chinooks that were leased and eventually purchased. Also, how do you think your troops get to where they need to be or are dispatched? Certainly not in economy seats on Air Canada. The Airbus spends as much, if not more time transporting the troops. The new Airbus will also be able to do air to air refuelling, making it multi tasking. Oh and lets not forget the Transport Squadrons of Hercules that also do so much troop transport and training. As for the F-35, like it or not, Canada has to have something to defend it's sovereignty. While the Army does deploy at government whim, it is fully supported by the rest of the Canadian Armed Forces. The Army does not stand alone.

There are about 150 Generals and above and I cannot find the Colonel (Captain in the Navy) numbers but suspect that would be around 400. Military total about 68,000. As for public service EX and above, nearest I can figure is about 15,000. Red herring. What others make has long been an issue of envy. Most senior managers have been recruited and lured to the positions with pay and benefits. It is what it is. To get the high level people you want, you need to pay for them. The working class can and do move up the ladders, if they wish but, there is a price to pay to live on the higher floors, be it personal,professional or family. The"poor" (everyday folks like you and me) can take advantage of the tax loopholes that the rich do as well. The choice is yours to make. Sure, close them if you think that will help....help what??

Maybe not but, just to show all public servant senior staff (EX level and above) and as well as senior military officers (Colonel and above) get annual bonuses. Bonuses are a given by all large companies and corporations at a certain level, be they cash or stock options

Just so some are aware, the Canadian Military Senior Officers also get "bonus" pay. All senior public servants in every department get annual bonus pay based on self established professional targets, and goals.

All major crown purchases takes years and years. After specs are written and vetted, and request for proposals are issued and the required amendments to the RFP's based on return comments and issues and then actual call for contracts and all bids come in and all bids evaluated and then the winning bid sent to the various departments of interest then the issuance of the contract and then and only then can production start. Then a delivery scheduled is proposed and debated and approved eventually, years later we may get something that may already out of date. The sad thing is that after all the fingers in the pie, the horse the military wanted came out looking like a camel.

You just need the wherewithal to do it. Also, if the rich hid as much as they could and still pay 80% of all taxes collected, well, that is even more interesting.

Taxing the rich is what everyone is whining about. To find out the top 20% already pay 80% of all the federal and provincial income taxes already has to open some eyes.
