Whoa Whoa Tabernac!!! That was not my quote, that was blackturds. I was responding to it. (Posted yesterday at 03:57 PM ) Read the post again and then chastise the person that actually said that. Oh and, I hate all politicians equally, LOL

Quite un christian of you to turn away the helpless, needy and unwanted. You are sounding very prejudicial and racist. Only allow folks you like? Canada is a land of immigrants, from all over.....that is our culture. Should we return to a had tax like we put on Chinese. Or to prevent Black farmers form entering Canada in the early 1900's? Or should we keep turning away jews, like we did during WWII? You are pretty hypocritical LOL
-
Yes, that is the topic but when you indicate some are un Canadian because they like someone you don't changes the topic intent. Au contraire, there are (were) many Canadians that like(d) Castro. They went there every winter for vacations. There are also many Canadians that still call China home and even live there. Hence my question to you about requiring a list of who we like to be vetted if we want to be Canadian. Basically, your comment was a rectal pluck without much thought.

So, you are saying being Canadian or un Canadian is dependant on who you like?? Do people have to provide you a list of associates?? All political leaders cozy up to whomever will do the country best. Mulroney did it too as did Deifenbuker and all other PM's. International politics associations is not a determination of who is Canadian or not. Both Trudeaus got their most support form voters in Ontario, not Quebec.

Ottawa LRT - When will it be ready?
ExFlyer replied to GostHacked's topic in Local Politics in Canada
I have been fortunate to travel all over. I have seen subways and light rapid transit and other forms of public transportation. In none of the cities did they cancel, and do away with their buses. They systems run in parallel except in Ottawa. As soon as the first train ran in Ottawa, they fired, laid off and early retired many of the bus drivers and got rid of buses and routes. Then the shit hit the fan...the trains broke down, were unreliable and just did not function, in the winter, spring and summer. Too cold and they stopped. Too rainy and they stopped. Too hot and they stopped and they did not have any drivers and not enough buses to take up the passenger requirements. The old mayor (Jim Watson) who was the key driver and proponent or the entire project is nowhere to be seen because he is living large somewhere on the city pension we pay him. The entire thing is a mitigated disaster and I am quite sure it will be another 5 to 7 years before it is running properly but...at a huge extra cost to the taxpayer -

Awwww poor baby lol again you look stupid and again it's my fault Tons of people say things I don't agree with Or like that I don't comment on. When I comment, it's because I know I'm right. If you say 2 + 2 = 7 and correct you and say it equals 4, then getting mad at me for 'always being right' is kind of stupid. This is a subject I'm insanely familiar with. You are not a hunter. You are not a gun owner. I don't think you even live in this province if I recall correctly. I doubt you've ever been to the smaller gulf islands never mind the small ones with introduced deer populations. I have hunted those deer. I know why they were introduced to those islands, I know how they were introduced to those islands, I am well aware of why they are out of control given the fact that there are no natural predators on those islands. And now you're angry that I know more than you on this subject. Your problem is that in YOUR arrogance You always decide to argue with people just because you don't like the people. You need to learn to actually do your research or ask questions before you start taking Hardline positions about things that you know nothing of. You're as bad as moonbox and that's absolutely NOT what you want people to think of you, Next time do better and research more or ask questions before you open your mouth and look like an 1diot. Wow, it seems like you're having a rough day.....again. LOL If my previous response came across as ignorant or arrogant, it's clear that you're passionate but ignorant about this topic. I understand (but do not believe) that you have personal experience with hunting deer on the smaller Gulf islands. However, I'd like to clarify that my intention was not to argue or belittle your knowledge, but rather to engage in a discussion about the issue. It is obvious discussion with you is fruitless, as I and so many others have found out.. It's okay to disagree with each other. Let's take a step back, and try to focus on understanding perspectives rather than attacking other's intelligence. I realize that will be a challenge for you and it will not come to pass but hey, you are what you are.

I do not mean to argue, II am ignorant of gun rules, am just confused. I understand the intent of the law but the Act says "New maximum thresholds for muzzle energy (greater than 10,000 Joules) and bore diameter (20 mm bore or greater) are also in place. Any firearm that exceeds them is now prohibited. A Criminal Code amnesty period is currently in effect to October 30, 2025. The amnesty is designed to protect individuals or businesses who, at the time the prohibition came into force, were in lawful possession of a newly prohibited firearm from criminal liability while they take steps to comply with the law." https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cntrng-crm/frrms/index-en.aspx In this case (related to the topic) I suspect the contractor that got the job would still be in line with the law?

Not being gun aware is "White Buffalo, will use restricted semi-automatic assault-style rifles to dispatch the deer. And they will be equipped with suppressors, or silencers, using .223-calibre ammunition with extended magazines holding up to 30 rounds, he said." an AR-15? Your BBC link also said "The ban is effective immediately but there will be a two-year amnesty period for law-abiding gun owners to comply. " "Prohibition on assault-style firearms New maximum thresholds for muzzle energy (greater than 10,000 Joules) and bore diameter (20 mm bore or greater) are also in place. Any firearm that exceeds them is now prohibited. A Criminal Code amnesty period is currently in effect to October 30, 2025" https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cntrng-crm/frrms/index-en.aspx I am not a gun owner or gun aficionado but I would think that if a contract was let, it would have to comply with present Canadian Law, as all contracts are obliged to do.
-
If no one in Canada could fulfill the contract I guess, so they got someone that could. I am pretty sure they did not request what arms to use. Bottom line is that this has been going on for a very long time and parks Canada tried to get locals in indigenous bit they did not do the job so,like everything else, they contract out. Like I said, I have been there. I asked you where you got the AR-15 information. I read the links and did not see it. It is interesting that this has become a story. There is the same issue way up on the Queen Charlotte Islands (oh, sorry Haida Gwaii) for many decades. Anyone can go and hunt up there. There is no bag limit but the deer are still a problem.
-
Read the links...it explains it there. They even tell you how many have been shot and what they are doing wit the meet. Seems the locals and the indigenous are not shooting enough so, to solve the problem, they have to hire shooters. The locals and indigenous that are complaining are not doing enough so, like always, the government steps in. The Parks department has been working on this since 2018. Read the links and understand the history (which is something you always tell others to do) and you will not be such a drama queen All the answers and reasons are there.

How?? This was and is an ongoing program to cull deer that were damaging the island environment and ecosystem. I have been ion the island and the deer are a huge problem. Read the link and become aware. https://parks.canada.ca/agence-agency/bib-lib/rapports-reports/~/link.aspx?_id=B84E6A3DAAEB4A90B765F4388D7B1C4A&_z=z https://coastalconservation.ca/projects/sidney-island-ecosystem-restoration-project/ https://www.timescolonist.com/local-news/parks-canada-defends-12m-sidney-island-deer-kill-ecological-restoration-8808318

Did you read the link? It is a cull to prevent the further environmental problems caused by the deer. Where did you get the use of the AR-15 Sydney Island is 8.5 sq kms. The indigenous were given rights but for some reason or other, they were not able to accomplish the task themselves. "Since 2018, Parks Canada has been working with partners—including the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council (representing Tsartlip (tsart-lip) First Nation and Tseycum (say-come) First Nation ), Tsawout (tsay-out) First Nation, Pauquachin (paw-kwuh-chin) First Nation , Sidney Island residents, Islands Trust Conservancy , and the Province of British Columbia—to plan and implement a forest restoration strategy on SḰŦÁMEN (Sidney Island). This initiative is known as the Sidney Island Ecological Restoration Project, or SḰŦÁMEN QENÁȽ,ENEȻ SĆȺ. Together, project partners identified three key objectives: Restoring native vegetation and removing invasive plant species. Eliminating the invasive European fallow deer population. Sustainably managing native black-tailed deer."
