Housing affordability is a crisis in Canada
West replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Please explain. I think a perfectly good policy would be to avoid accepting immigration from a country that wants to wage war on Canada as just one example. I'm not saying all people there do but enough to question why you'd want to put the safety and wellbeing of your citizens at risk just to prove your virtue. Just to be up front about my position on immigration I don't have an issue if 1. They share our values of peace and prosperity and 2. If our existing institutions can handle such a thing without contributing to spiraling inflation and housing shortages for the people who already live here. -

I did already. The mayoral debate. A few days ago some people were arrested for plotting a terrorist attack on a synagogue down east. You'd agree that this is incompatible with western civilization, would you not? -

The other day I was listening to a debate for city mayor. There's a very far left person running and that was essentially the crux of her argument. They give out these freebies to new immigrants for business startups while the university grad who's parents are paying for said freebies get nothing and have to find their own way. If you oppose you get called names. Just one example. You also hear it all the time in the press. Anything less than full surrender to mass immigration is considered racist. Which isn't really much of an argument to begin with. It's not just housing. But education as well.. where there's a shortage of EAs and teachers are expected to modify course content to students who don't speak English, placing strain on resources in the classroom. I get it's a catch 22 especially in industries like agriculture who have issues getting their crops off in time due to labor shortages. But there's still pretty significant impacts on everything from hospital wait times to housing to classrooms that's really crippled with even a smallest percentage of an increase. This also played a role on why we all had to muzzle up and governments got overly involved in how many people a health 30 something year old could have in their homes during covid -

This is what many folks like myself were saying when we started rapidly increasing our population faster than the infrastructure and housing that would allow for it. Instead of listening, people were called racists. Almost like this was by design. Well here we are and many public funded institutions are in bad shape as well. -
I don't care if men want to dance around in thongs wearing wigs and fake boobs in a night club with other weirdos doing the same. I don't care if two consenting dudes wanna have gay sex. Hell I don't even care if two men want to have some form of civil union. Government should stay out of marriage all together. Just don't expose your ball sack and fake boobs to minors or folks in public. That's really not too much to ask.

The issue with the safe injection sites from what I see, though I do not necessarily oppose some form of harm reduction from a health care policy perspective: 1. It erodes communities and the feeling of safety. -Attracts drug dealers to the area -Puts people who are eradic on the street because you can't restrict their movement. 2. It promotes illicit drug usage. 3. It turns the cops into the bad guys -They should still try to get the drugs off the streets and especially out of the schools. 4. Takes able bodied people and makes them reliant on government assistance when they should be working to get people reliant on the fruits of their own labour. 5. There's really no good second stage to harm reduction. People just become life long addicts at the expense of the tax payer. Should be focusing on how to get them off the drugs and contribute to society if they are able (I understand mental and physical disability prevents that somewhat but able bodied folks should be in the workforce).

Russian and Iranian Election Interference.

This is all pretty dumb. If you do not support siphoning a bunch of tax payer money to the Ukraine and then having the president of the US's son siphon a little off the top you must secretly work for Russia. The war mongerers are rearing their fangs again for those who dare question their little ponzi scheme -
