  1. OK. I guess Canadians would rather wear shitty pants than have a Conservative government.
  2. Democracy is dying in America as it sides with despots.

  3. Russian state media were in the Oval Office today live-streaming from the Trump/Vance debacle.
  4. Even a dull Carney seems to be better than the polished turd that is Poilievre? The polls have been a disaster for PP the last week or two. it seems Canadians are looking to vote ABP. Anyone. But. Poilievre.
  5. Harper increased the debt to GDP ratio. Why are you thanking him?
  6. Canada is not America. America is more Africa than Canada is Germany. If you think Canada can’t have national accreditation for doctors, then you’re a fool.
  7. Yes! Rather than worrying about colonizing Mars, we should certainly be spending the resources on implementing policies and technologies to remediate climate change so we don’t have to move to Mars!
  8. The UK didn’t have an election during WWII until the European part of the war was done. Is it realistic to expect Ukraine to be able to hold elections during a war?
  9. Maybe they could have a press conference in the WhiteHouse with Putin in attendance so Putin can take questions from the press and explain the invasion of a sovereign country?
  10. Sounds like you’re changing the term “dictatorship” to suit your narrative. You thought truckers shouldn’t be held to account for breaking the law, therefore Canada is now a dictatorship when they are convicted by a court. Are you just a sore loser? There are ways the truckers could have protested peacefully and legally, wasn’t there?
  11. I’d rather we all chip in and give them a place to live and food, if they want it. It’s the least our taxes should do.
  12. Yes. There should be federal standards and accreditation across all education, beyond k-12 and through colleges and universities. Not having free movement of labour and goods within Canada has been hurting our economy for many decades. A Norwegian from Oslo doesn’t have to acquire separate accreditation to work in Tromsø.
  13. This is strictly due to them not getting their way at the federal level.
  14. Wouldn’t he have been sentenced to the maximum without a trial if Canada was a dictatorship? Is Canada just really bad at it, or have you mangled the meaning of the term beyond all recognition?
  15. I was hopeful, but pessimistic. I think Trudeau inspired some optimism. All I see Poilievre inspire is anger and discontent.
  16. Outside of city centres, they are exactly that. Ever spent any time in Yukon or Northwest Territories? The CBC is all that is there. Without it, a huge gap in culture, public forum and entertainment would be there. And it simply would not be filled by for-profit business. No one is clamouring to have the CBC removed in the North so they can swoop in and make buckets of money from being a public broadcaster. I suppose if we only care about where the most people live, and national cohesion isn’t important, then getting rid of all things CBC seems like a great idea.
  17. We still mine coal and dig oil. If your headline were true, do you think we would still be doing those things?
  18. It’s almost like it should be a national pension! Oh wait…. there is one.
  19. Don’t have to imagine… PP has a very tenuous grasp of the truth on a daily basis. PP benefited from Trudeau being well past his best-before date and being the only other viable option in people’s minds. Now that Trudeau is gone, the gap in the polls between the parties has evaporated. He is back to his base , with most of Canadians not wanting to vote for the Cons.
  20. That poster thinks I’m a “communist”. 😂
  21. This chart tells the story. The latest polls have the 2 frontrunners in a tie. What happens to Poilievre if he loses to the Liberals? source: www.338canada.com
  22. Tariffs are back on! 😂 March 4. Tariffs are back, baby!! cbc article
  23. Canadians don't like Musk. Every Canadian citizen could sign a petition and it would have no force in law. Once you’re a citizen, unless you committed fraud to get that citizenship, the government cannot take it away.
  24. Will Poilievre’s opposition to Trump hurt support from his “base”? We notice on this forum that Conservative supporters are also strong Trump supporters. What do they think of PP taking a stand against Trump? Will it cause a further shift to the People’s Party? A Mad Max resurgence? https://www.politico.com/news/2025/02/14/canadas-conservatives-confront-trump-sized-obstacle-00204340 A challenge for the Conservatives is trying to walk the line between conservative Canadians who don’t support Trump and the minority of conservative Canadians who are MAGA supporters, said “You do wonder if the Conservatives are being a bit more reticent than they might have been if that segment didn’t exist,” she said Kurl.
