  1. I'm not sold on EV's yet but if I was buying a new car today it would be a PHEV.
  2. Actually it is starting to turn out they were under estimating. Things are already happening that they hadn't forecast for a few decades from now.
  3. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in particular and yes I have had fun with cars, still do. I guess my excuse is I can only drive one at a time regardless of how many I have. I quit smoking years ago after getting tired of being hassled by my kids who have never smoked. Neither did my wife. We are depleting renewable resources 50% faster than the earth can replace them, it should be obvious that is not sustainable. We live in the world we have, not the one we would like. Pointing fingers won't change that.
  4. Ya, anything you don't want to hear is just hysteria. Just like the man said.
  5. I have doubts about the tax, I'm not a cheerleader but it is hard to tell how much it has changed behaviours. I don't know what numbers you refer to, maybe you could provide a link. Of course you will, like the man said, you will just turn off anything you don't want to hear.
  6. https://globalnews.ca/news/245731/were-using-50-per-cent-more-resources-than-the-earth-can-provide-what-will-we-do-about-it/ Ring a bell?
  7. I know, climate change deniers never cherry pick and avoid other numbers. ?
  8. Yes, the results of any changes will not be seen for a long time but things will just keep accelerating and be more severe the longer we resist change. I'm a car guy, I'd love to have everything remain the same so I don't have to change anything but I've come to realize that is no longer an option. No, I don't think a tax is the answer to everything and its effect is definitely debatable.
  9. Don't know why this is in US Federal Politics, it's a global issue.
  10. Who said I feel guilty. It's just hard to understand the wilful ignorance that comes from many. There is no snow on the Canadian prairies and it's almost Christmas. Grain farmers rely on snow melt for their crops. Things like drought also affect consumer prices. Lack of water in California has resulted in millions of acres of farm land losing their water supply and that is where were get most of our vegetables. Is the drought just weather or climate, well the fact that droughts are getting longer and more severe could be a clue. Some Canadians like to go on about the amount of forest we have to absorb carbon. Last summer we burned up 16.5 million hectares (almost 41 million acres) of our carbon sink. Any guesses how long it will take the new forest to absorb the carbon released by those fires, never mind all the new carbon we are pumping into the air from fossil fuels?
  11. Not surprised that you can't comprehend charts compiled from ocean temperature and salinity data collected starting in the early 1800's by Humbolt. Much of it coming from readings taken by Royal Navy ships as they travelled all over the world. I guess ignorance can be a wonderful thing for some.
  12. NASA has satellites that measure things like ice loss and sea levels, they compile data. Climate doesn't give a shit about politics but you can't stop yourself from making everything political.
  13. I’ve had a good run as well but my grand kids matter.
  14. You really are dumb enough to think the climate cares about our politics.
  15. A chart produced by a right wing think tank. Quell Surprise Maybe look at the link. Or does NASA just peddle bullshit as well?
  16. Actual science comes from scientists, not YouTube and Facebook.
  17. https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/ 1884 2022
  18. Ah science, it sure brings out the trolls. Where would trolls be without the science that produced the internet and the devices they use to spread their manure.
  19. No we don’t both know that, you just want to ignore it but it won’t ignore you no matter how much you want it to. I suppose NASA is as well.
  20. And Congress has just said that he can't do it unilaterally.
  21. It was a bipartisan bill and at least 92 Republicans voted in favour. They don’t trust your wannabe tin pot dictator either.
  22. I don’t know, have they? Storm surges from hurricanes shouldn’t be a problem then. Oh wait! Do you think it stays in the oceans. Try putting your hand just over a boiling kettle. At least half of sea level rise is from thermal expansion of the oceans.
  23. Don't get all pouty because you couldn't be bothered to find out who made the award.
