  1. Simple, manufacturing and production would go up, because there would be no tariffs on any materials that manufacturers need to import to do that, which would reduce their cost of doing business, especially in relation to the competition located in foreign nations with higher tariffs on those same materials.
  2. Milton Friedman's Hong Kong sure rode that strategy to prosperity, despite being a desolate rock with no natural resources other than a natural harbor. Don't see Canada adopting that policy though, if the Zombie Confederation ceases to be, perhaps Upper Canada without the baggage of the rest of Canada, would be more likely to adopt such a strategy. But as long as Quebec remains a part of Canada, they will demand their supply management gulag be propped up by insanely high tariffs against their foreign competition, so that's a non-starter.
  3. Canadian tariffs hurt Canadian consumers more than they do anyone else and American tariffs hurt American consumers more than they do anyone else. Both sides would be wise to knock it off and come to their senses, but I wouldn't hold my breath on either side realizing that any time soon.
  4. In America, the most restrictive gun control goes on in the big cities, and the least restrictive gun control goes on in more sparsely populated areas of the state. For the most part, states that are the most urbanized have more restrictive gun control than states which are the least urbanized. Yet most of the gun deaths in the country are occurring in the big cities, and not out in the country where gun control is far more lax, state by state gun death per capita stats don't refute that observation in the slightest.
  5. Look at the portions of California which have the highest per capita gun deaths, then check to see how the gun control in that location compares to the gun control in the areas with the lowest per capita gun deaths. You can do it with any state. Look within the state, instead of simply comparing different states, gun control isn't uniform across entire states, some localities have more of it than others, for instance Chicago has more gun control than the rest of Illinois and has higher per capita gun deaths, those difference are more relevant to the discussion than a state by state comparison.
  6. The portions of California with the highest amount of gun deaths are in the places with most gun control though, the same is true of Texas. /shrugs
  7. Prove that it's because of the difference in gun control policies, or you are presenting a correlation equals causation fallacy as your argument.
  8. You claim that Canada's gun control policies keep guns out of the hands of "the people who shouldn't have them", and when that is proven to be manifestly untrue, you claim it's irrelevant to the discussion.
  9. Canada should shoot itself in the foot if the US insists on shooting itself in the foot, yeah, would be nice if we just didn't shoot ourselves in the foot instead, not buying. Canada has more ridiculous tariffs on US goods than vice versa, Canada is in no position to pretend like they are the good guys in the trade relationship with America.
  10. Sounds like Khabib won't be back until at least July, says he'll take the extra three months on the suspension, instead of doing a bullshit anti-bullying PSA for the NSAC to reduce the suspension.
  11. Indeed. Plus Conor has always got that Diaz trilogy fight in his back pocket, the only hitch is getting Diaz to sign a contract, and actually show up, Poirer knows, but to fight McGregor, Nate will do it, no matter how much he complains beforehand, lulz.
  12. Well they both can't fight until April, and I've been hearing some Cerrone-McGregor talk and Ferguson-Poirer talk, so I'm hoping that Khabib will fight the Ferguson-Poirer winner and Conor would rather have a much easier to win fight to get back in the saddle, I don't think Conor wants to retire just yet, he makes a lot of money, it's true, but he spends a lot of money too.
  13. Khabib did say he wanted to fight GSP after the Al Iaquinta fight, but the rumors I've been hearing lately are about a Khabib-McGregor rematch, which is lame. I wants me Ferguson-Nurmagomedov damn it, but the MMA gods just don't seem to want that fight to happen, I hope they change their minds. Also been hearing Ferguson-Poirer Interim Lightweight Title rumors, and fyi, Khabib is Dagestani, not Chechen.
  14. Vive le Haut-Canada libre. God Save The Queen.
  15. Yeah if Shea Weber were half the price, that's a good add, I don't see the Habs doing it as long as Bergevin is GM though.
  16. They call him cumulonimbus, because you know, he makes it rain.
  17. He is channeling the MAGA voodoo and all, so who knows indeed. Most folks are betting the Patriots hard, something like 96% of bets are on the Patriots, and yet the oddsmakers won't raise the line to hedge, willing to risk getting hosed if the Patriots cover the spread, or win outright. #fadethepublic
  18. I'm for it, just don't think the Avs will do it. Sports wise, tonight wasn't a complete loss though: Plus my Rams be in the Super Bowl tomorrow, or I guess today technically, regardless, get hype.
  19. I suppose, but it's pretty rare that a team in the midst of playoff race, where they are on the bubble, fire their head coach. If Sakic has the balls to buck conventional wisdom on this one, I'd be impressed.
  20. If the Avs miss the playoffs, he could totally get the axe. Wouldn't mind giving McClellan a shot if so, Oilderp Dumpster Fire just made him look bad, like you say.
  21. Also, Zadorov shooting Landeskog in the balls on that shot attempt earlier was A-level blooper material, hehe.
  22. Lulz, Soderberg loafs his way to the penalty box, so lazy, so undisciplined. Womp-womp.
  23. Yeah, suppose I'll have to sooth my woes with that snazzy Jose Aldo finish, and the money I won on the rest of tonight's fight card. Could have done better, but still a solid night, degenerate gambling wise. The Avs want to be Loafs West tonight, hardly surprising, can't beat teams they should definitely beat, happens all the time, especially lately. Anytime they want to snap out of this slump of their's is fine with me.
  24. Interest rates have been over 8% before, the economy did not destroy itself overnight.
