The Leafs lose huge with that one. Goaltending isn't their problem and Domi is a huge downgrade on Marner, it makes sense for the Habs, but the Leafs won't stand for that fleecing, not to mention the Leafs are having cap issues and couldn't afford to fit both Domi and Price under the cap even if it wasn't a fleecing. Eichel for Domi and Price is also a fleecing, Habs make out like bandits in all your proposed trades, and neither Dubas or Botterill are dumb enough to get fleeced like that. These trades simply aren't realistic at all, moving Price out is a good idea, but you aren't getting a return like that for doing so, bet that. -

Nah, he's a bust, he ain't his brother, and he ain't going to be playing with either, he'll be lucky to make the roster really. He can't hack it in the NHL. Too soft to play in the bottom six, not enough skill to play in the top six, the trade makes no sense. -

And the Liberals eat it up every time, no matter how many times Lucy pulls the football away at the last moment, they are going to try and kick that ball. They are Charlie Brown. -

Yeah if they hadn't drafted that bum they wouldn't have had to trade for Jokiharju, could have had McAvoy or Sergachev, f*ck Buffaloberta. -

Dumb trade by Chicago, Buffalo Fleece City. Blackhawks need defense to, and need forwards a lot less, so not only did they lose the trade, but they traded depth at a position they need for a position they don't need. Derp. -

Henri Jokiharju for Alex Nylander? Makes perfect sense for the Sabres end, not sure what the Blackhawks are thinking though. -

That's a risky bet, Jumbo Joe has obviously lost a step, and it won't be long before he falls off a cliff, if that's next year and he doesn't put up the points, it could backfire huge on him. Not only that though, but Wilson wasn't going to sit him if he didn't take $1 million, he could have gotten at least two million more, Wilson would have given it to him, and still bet on himself. Lebanc left money on table and Wilson is laughing all the way to the bank. -

If you are going to bet on yourself with a one-year deal, at least cash the bet you won coming off the ELC while you do it. -

WTF? Lebanc signs a 1 year, $1 million AAV contract? Kid had 56 points last year, 40 points the year before that, and had a great showing in the playoffs, how in the f*ck did San Jose get him to take that deal? Kerfoot makes $3.5 million and Lebanc is making $1 million, that's just ridiculous. I'd much rather have Lebanc and he's 3.5 times cheaper. Tanev gets paid $3.5 million for almost half the production, the difference between what the Pens pay Tanev and the Sharks pay Lebanc based on the value of those two players, is absolutely mind blowing. That contract has such absurd value it makes me wonder if something fishy is going on and they paid him under the table, I mean, why would he sign for that little and leave millions on the table? Does he hate money? Where does Doug Wilson find all these guys willing to sign over the top team friendly deals just to play in San Jose? I get it for the old dudes who want to win a cup, but for a 23 year old who puts up 40+ points his last two seasons, to not want to get paid just to play in San Jose, that's next level shit right there. -

It's not completely irrelevant, but it's more irrelevant than it's ever been. Good cheap depth helps, but it won't win you a championship, you need the core to get hot, especially the goalie. The depth guys chipping in is icing on the cake when the core leads by example. -

Parity is a helluva drug. That's pretty much all it is now, the better teams have a better chance, but if they don't get fired up and have a hot goalie while running into a team that has that going for them, the better team is going to lose. -

True, but the better the team, the better the chances they peak at the right time, it's just no guarantee is all, it's up to the hockey gods. -

Grubauer does seem to have a penchant for getting hot down the stretch, he took Holtby and Varlamov's job in back to back years because of it. Unfortunately for Grubauer, his team lost the first two games in Round 1 of their cup run, so he lost the job back to Holtby, though neither of those first two losses were his fault, but he didn't carry the hot streak into the playoffs, they went back to Holtby and he did get hot, the rest is history. -

Exactly. We don't even know if Binnington is legit yet, samples size way too small. The upside of having a legit consistent starter, is they'll have more shots at getting on a roll in the playoffs, which increases the odds they will get on a roll at some point during the teams contention window and it will result in a Stanley Cup. That's what I'm hoping for. -

I hope Grubauer is the legit starter the Avs have been looking for, but until I see him handle 50+ games in the regular season and look good in process, I won't count that chicken before it's hatched. That playoff performance was certainly encouraging though, as was his play down the stretch to get the Avs into the playoffs, he could be the guy, just a need a larger sample size to back up my gut feeling, goaltending being voodoo and all. -

Zadorov has his last chance to try and prove that the Avs should make him part of their long term plans, 1 year at $3.2 million AAV. I don't think he will be though, he ain't in the Core 7, and is going to want too much money, just to play behind Girard and Byram, so he's expendable. Trade him for picks and move on. -

Jim Rutherford lost his mind after back to back cups, now he overpays bottom six grinders and has completely forgotten what brought the Pens success in the first place. They dump Kessel to free up cap space, just to turn around and give half that money to Tanev on a six year term, insanity. -

The Queen could literally dissolve parliament. To the extent that the people call the shots, that's because the Crown allows them to. The Crown is sovereign, "The People" are not, the people are subjects. Handwaving that it is merely symbolic doesn't change reality. Canada is not a republic, no matter how much you wish that it was. If you want to live in a country where every man is a sovereign, as opposed to just the monarch, move to America, because that is not Canada.
