  1. Panarin turned down McDavid money from the Avs. He must really love Manhattan.
  2. Would have been nice to get him on a longer term, but that $6 million cap hit is pretty sweet. Should have drafted Rantanen though.
  3. He's excellent and jumping into the play and he scores clutch goals too, both really stand out in that highlight package. When Lansdeskog and Rantanen were hurt and the Avs were fighting tooth and nail for that final wild card spot, Barrie stepped up huge for the Avs. The more I think about the trade, the more I like it, for both sides.
  4. He played mostly on the wing in Colorado, but he's way better than most wingers at taking faceoffs. He's not afraid to go into the dirty areas to get the puck, but he takes a lot of punishment for it, and he tends to play through it, even with bigger beating he takes due to his size. He's got mad heart, but even so, his size forces him to the periphery a little too often, but he's got versatility, can play center in pinch, a long term 3C solution though, not so sure about that. He's not the most consistent guy, he tends to light it up when playing well and goes ghost when he isn't.
  5. Kerfoot will get some PP2 time, if they keep him. Probably Kapanen too if Johnsson is on PP1 and Barrie is QBing PP2.
  6. Will be interesting to see if the Leafs put Barrie on PP1 with Reilly, or have him QB the PP2. As much as I prefer the four forward-one defense PP to the three forward-two defense PP in general, with defensemen like Reilly and Barrie, I think that could easily be worthy of making an exception in this instance.
  7. As long as you have a steady eddie LHD to pair with TB4 to mask some his deficiencies, and Muzzin fits that bill rather well, the strengths of TB4 vastly outweight the weakness. Especially at $2.75 million cap hit, which is just insane value for Barrie.
  8. He'll get the bigger role and he won't have to overcompensate for being the only forward with grit, so hopefully he takes less dumb penalties. Landeskog I think can teach him how to use his physicality in a more productive manner and be a smarter agitator. If we want to take dumb penalties, that's what Zadorov is for, so leave it to him Nazem.
  9. Barrie is better and cheaper if Calgary wasn't up for retaining salary. Kadri might be overpaid for 3C, but he's underpaid for 2C and is probably the highest quality 2C the Avs could have gotten for a Barrie rental and at a bargain price. Perfect trade for both sides really, thank you and you're welcome. Peace out TB4, Hello Nazem Kadri.
  10. Canes not waiting to match the offer sheet on Aho, announcing they are going to match already.
  11. The big ice can be deceiving, so true, hard to properly evaluate under those circumstances.
  12. You've seen him play at international events though, he's always one of Russia's top point producers.
  13. VGK shopping Gusev, any chance he ever plays in the NHL?
  14. I mean after next year, the Avs still have plenty of cap space, and the Leafs will need more cap space, that could allow the Avs to pick up an asset that the Leafs need to move for cap reasons on the cheap. Retaining some of Barrie's salary could keep the Avs at the top of Dubas' list in that case. Maybe the Avs can get Kapanen or Johnsson in the end as a result.
  15. Maybe, but for the next year, the Avs have cap space to burn, so might as well make sure the trade happens. Plus, in the future, Kyle will be more willing to make other trades with the Avs given that solid Joe did him, should the Avs wish to do so. That said, might as well help y'all out, could pay off down the road, and not just on this trade.
  16. Have to live in the now when you give Tavares $11 milllion, perfect move thanks to the perfect trading partner, where both sides are better than before the trade, that shit doesn't happy every day, rejoice.
  17. Yeah now you got a dope PP QB on both units, and a RHD offensive defensemen on the second pairing. Certainly an upgrade on Gardiner, both in terms of the quality of player and cap hit. Barrie at $2.75 million AAV is as good of a rental as they could ask for really.
  18. If they don't, might as well just fold the team. What's the point of them even existing if they let a 1C go for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick?
  19. Enjoy the cheap Barrie rental, hope he kills it for you in a contract year and stays healthy. I'll miss him, but it's the best move, especially in the long run.
  20. Small streaky perimeter forwards who pass up open shots is the drawback, and that's not what Babcock is looking for. You'll love him one day, and hate him the next, he'll bounce around the Leafs middle six, sometimes at center, sometimes on the wing. He won't get any 2C time unless Matthews or Tavares is hurt, but in a pinch he can do that.
  21. He's a defensively responsible, streaky, playmaking, perimeter winger, who wins draws, and passes up open shots. A solid middle six forward who can move around the lineup. That's Kerfoot in a nutshell.
  22. Also Kerfoot was a completely found wallet, who is what he is at this point, so the Avs traded a rental and found wallet for Kadri, Rosen and a better pick. The haters can bitch all they want, Sakic did good here. Just because Dubas did good too, does not mean Sakic got fleeced.
  23. He's good at faceoffs, but soft and plays on the perimeter, and he never shoots the god damn puck. Good playmaker though, Poor Man's Tanguay who can win a draw.
  24. Clearly they mistakenly thought the return was going to bigger than it was, idiots probably thought we were going to snag Nylander or some shit. Dream on homers, Barrie rental ain't that valuable. Internet comment section retardation lulz.
