  1. Nah. The goal was to force the Democrats to rally around The Squad, when the Democrats were trying to distance themselves from them. He needed to say something that they could unite to condemn and publicly embrace each other when the media spotlight is focused on them. Saying something that is a lot harder to take out of context would have risked not accomplishing the goal, he wanted to them to cry racist while holding hands with camera's all around them, and they took the bait. Saying something less controversial simply wouldn't have worked nearly as well. Trump is immune to these claims of racism at this point, because the Dems are the boy who cried racist, so might as well exploit that when the situation calls for it, the in-fighting between Pelosi and The Squad was such a situation. Can't have the Dems publicly distancing themselves from The Squad while they suck up the media oxygen, which was happening before Trump decided to step into the middle of it with some tweets. He wants The Squad to be the face of the party, and those tweets helped to do that, Pelosi went from distancing herself from the Squad, to engaging in photo-ops with AOC and publicly defending The Squad. Straight up 4D Chess, right thur.
  2. She isn't distancing herself from the other members of The Squad, but she should. Not sure why some people are under the impression that she is doing that. /shrugs
  3. The best they got is he admitted to wanting to run people down in car in a suicide attack, but even there, he said it like he used to believe that and changed his mind. Pretty flimsy stuff, no actual evidence he joined ISIS that I can see.
  4. The Leafs are totally beatable, and Tampa getting rolled by Columbus with ease in four was a fluke. Tampa is the better team, if they both are playing to their potential. Beatable? Sure, but every team is beatable. The Leafs beat Tampa, by Tampa not being at the top of their game and Leafs exploiting it while being near the top of theirs, not by actually being the better team on paper. That's how Columbus beat them, it wasn't because they were actually the better team, the better team doesn't always win the series.
  5. They are close enough, but if they lose to a team who is better than them, that's not really a choke, unless they get smashed. It's a choke if Tampa doesn't win the cup, if the Leafs run into a hot Bolts team in the playoffs and can't get over that hump, not so much. If they put them on the verge of elimination and can't finish the job, that would a choke though.
  6. If they lose to Tampa in the playoffs, but are competitive, I'll give them a pass. If they lose to any other Eastern Conference team in the playoffs, that's a choke though. If they can get past Tampa, I see no reason why they shouldn't be in the finals, aside from Mike Babcock Country Clubitis.
  7. Problem is, Lundqvist is falling off. Like the Devils, they too have goalie issues.
  8. The Calder race should be interesting with Makar, Hughes and Kakko.
  9. Turns out lefties put far too much faith in the effectiveness of centralized power to produce desirable results, who knew?
  10. That's because you are misguided and think central planned boondoggles are a good idea, when it actually holds Canada back, and you don't see the obvious downsides. You don't realize what you are actually imposing, because you are too busy focusing on good intentions instead of good results, and are paving the road to hell while you do it.
  11. Avoiding blockades of nuclear powers is the name of the game, makes sense.
  12. The left does want to impose that, they just think it will help, because they are severely misguided.
  13. Well, they can get away with it being in D +30 districts, but they'd be wise to dial back the crazy far lefty stuff a little, if they ever want to be anything more than a congressman. As they increase their name recognition, it is driving more and more people to disapprove of them, and at this point they'd be lucky to ever win a Senate race. They already got the Bernie Bros on lock, going further left isn't going to win them anymore votes with them, they are already maxed out there. If they just want to be a fringe voice sucking up media attention to entrench themselves in their own districts, that seems to be the plan, but they still might to avoid pissing off the Democrats enough that they try and throw them under the bus. Their calibration seems a bit off at the moment.
  14. Even in that game, they aren't doing that well, they aren't that popular, even in their own districts. If their districts weren't so heavily Democrat, they never would have gotten elected in the first place. They could get primary'd and lose, at the pace they are pissing off Democrats, wouldn't be terribly surprising.
  15. Ilhan Omar has 9% approval rating in key swing states, and AOC has 22% approval rating in key swing states. They couldn't do a better job sabotaging the Democrats if they were Republican moles.
  16. Abortion is not a constitutional right, free speech is, and there is good reason for that. Women can choose to have an abortion, even if the law says it's illegal in certain states, no one is taking the choice away from them, and no one is taking away choices other than abortion, which in the vast majority of cases are far superior options to abortion. A lot of women choosing to have abortions do so for dubious reasons, that's just a fact. Some of them have great reasons, but they are a very small minority of abortions.
  17. Your doubts are misplaced. Instead you should be doubting the effectiveness of your proposed strategy in curbing corruption, especially when you are curbing free speech in your lame proposal.
  18. What you would like to see, and what will happen, are two different things. Who knew?
  19. How would they even back China into a corner? How does China back them into a corner? Lay out the basics of this geopolitical fault line.
  20. Chinese Gorbachev would be pretty sweet. No need to back them into a corner though, containment works, just don't go chasing phantom dominoes.
  21. Good for India and Japan, stick it to those Chicom bastards. Indo-Japanese Alliance FTW.
  22. Archaic British Imperialist Zombie Project *spits tobacco juice*
  23. Well at least it's only a one-year deal, with an irrelevant cap hit. /shrugs
  24. Typical nanny police state, above the law bullsh*t. F*ck the Mounties, and the horses they rode in on.
  25. Where? I don't see a roster spot for him, he's basically competing for the 13th forward spot with Kamanev, he's like the 14th forward. Makes no sense, we have no room for him unless we are burying him in the AHL. Very strange.
