If Canada had the investors and money to do the mining and resource extraction, it would be doing it. Nothing to stop you or anyone from starting your own company. The reason we have multinational companies is because they are the ones with the money. It is not government's job to use taxpayer money to create companies if that's what you're thinking. It must be left to private enterprise because they know what is best. That's how a capitalist system works. We don't want a Socialist or Communist system.
-
It's simple really. Canada doesn't have the investors with the money to start multinational corporations, mining companies, oil companies or McDonalds. There are a few Canadian companies, but when it takes hundreds of millions of dollars to build a company, we don't have it. So without that investment by multinational companies, we would have next to nothing.

The U.N. security council will be debating a motion tomorrow to call for a cease fire and release of hostages. It is well-established that the U.N. constantly has passed motions against Israel and as an organization has no interest in protecting or assuring the continued existence of Israel. This motion will not provide security for Israel. As part of it they want to carve Israel up and create two states. This would further weaken Israel and create an official terrorist state that would threaten the very existence of Israel. How will a cease fire eliminate the threat posed by the existence of Hamas and other terrorist groups? They have just murdered at least 1,600 innocent civilians including beheading of babies. There is no way that Israel should be expected to live under the threat of terrorist groups like Hamas. How will a cease fire stop Hamas backed by Iran from launching thousands more sophiscated rockets and terrorist attacks of civilians in Israel? Of course the answer is it won't. A cease fire will simply protect Hamas and allow it to build up and plan for the next terrorist attack. " The United Nations Security Council could debate two separate resolutions on Monday put forward by Russia and Brazil, calling for a Gaza cease-fire and the release of the over 150 hostages seized by Hamas during an October 7th assault on Israel. “We are convinced that the Security Council must act to put an end to the bloodshed and restart peace negotiations, with the view to establishing a Palestinian state as it was supposed to do so long ago,” Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia told reporters in New York." So what? Foreign owned is better than doing nothing. Canada is still in the driver's seat and charges royalties and makes all the laws and regulations. Foreign investment makes our natural resource industry possible in Canada and creates thousands or millions of good-paying jobs and spin-off jobs for Canadians and brings in lots of royalties and tax revenue that pay for our health care system, and everything else. Forest industries in B.C. for example are likely multinational corporations. Many towns exist in B.C. because of the existence of the forest industry. Logging, sawmills, and pulp mills because of multinational corporations that bring the money to do the job. I know for a fact many people own homes, have two vehicles in the family, cars, pickup trucks. There are motorhomes in yards, large RV trailers, and cabin cruiser boats worth 100 or 150 thousand dollars parked in front of houses. That is what multinationals brought Canadians. Of course their shareholder investors get a percentage on their investment but that is how Capitalism works. It creates wealth and millions of jobs. Where else in the world do people own all these homes, motor vehicles, RVs, and large cabin cruiser pleasure craft? You won't find them in Russia, Africa, Asia, South America, or Europe. Canada has lots of valuable natural resources and we are developing them. The only problem is the federal government that often gets in the way and takes years to approve a project. Plus all the taxes, regulations and red tape that is causing massive housing shortages and high costs of food.

Should Hamas support rallies in Canada be stopped?

"For Hamas, peace can only come to the Middle East when the Jews have been exterminated or expelled. The 1988 Hamas Covenant , which outlines its goals, intentions and direction, states that, “The Palestinian problem is a religious problem.” Followers of other religions who dispute Islam’s sovereignty in the region will be met with “nothing but carnage, displacement and terror.” The promised carnage and terror arrived early in the morning on Oct. 7. Babies beheaded , as has now been confirmed by Israeli government sources, with mothers and fathers also butchered at the Kfar Aza kibbutz. Around 260 party-goers slaughtered at a music festival with reports of multiple rapes. People gunned down as they waited at bus stops or going about their daily lives, the bodies left strewn in streets and houses. Up to 150 people kidnapped and now held hostage in Gaza, with Hamas threatening to execute them. The list of atrocities goes on from the rampage that left over 1,300 Israelis dead. By committing such heinous acts, making no attempt to hide their vile crimes, Hamas announced to the world that it was at war with Israel. Canada must therefore act immediately against Hamas and those who fund it, supply arms to it and allow its terrorist activities to endanger innocent lives and global stability. Canada should begin lobbying the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate Hamas for war crimes. Taking hostages, mutilating bodies, rape and attacking civilians are all war crimes under international law. Any investigation should encompass Ismail Haniyeh , the millionaire leader of Hamas who lives in luxury in Qatar and ordered the attacks. unquote " Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper ceased aid to UNRWA because of its alleged ties to Hamas, but the Liberals restored funding in 2016. This aid should be halted immediately." NP View: Canada must help bring Hamas down (msn.com) Why are Trudeau and the Liberals always so slow to act or unwilling to act at all on important issues? Europe and the other countries of the Five Eyes seem to be far ahead of Canada in doing something about threats. We have seen how slow Canada acted with regard to Huawei, slow in dealing with election interference. Opposition parties begged the government for months to start an enquiry but they never acted until the fiasco with the former governor general played out and he resigned. Notice babies beheaded has now been confirmed by Israeli government sources. -

A news article describes some of the horrors found in the genocide by Hamas. " The images from the October 7 massacre in southern Israel are extraordinarily difficult to behold. Charred bodies, babies riddled with bullet holes, elderly women shot in the head. The depths of Hamas’s depravity are impossible to comprehend. And yet, after reporters who visited one of the kibbutzim targeted by the genocidal terrorist group last weekend reported that dozens of children had been brutally murdered, the response from some wasn’t horror and revulsion, but rather mockery and incredulity. This was particularly apparent on X (formerly known as Twitter), a cesspool inhabited by some of the absolute worst of humanity, where some users poked fun at the reporters and openly questioned the veracity of their reports." Graphic images of Israeli terror victims confirmed an awful truth - editorial (msn.com). The worst of humanity are self-identifying as complete degenerates. -

The Israeli government is not "backpedaling". News outlets made some of the reports, and the Israel government spokesman simply said they cannot confirm the story. The damage was done by Hamas that murdered at least 1,200 innocent men, women, children, and babies. Whether or not the Israeli government is reporting the story accurately doesn't change the barbarism and savagery of Hamas. Maybe they don't have all the facts yet. They are correct to not make definitive statements if they have not corroborated it. You should be focused on the perpetrators, not trying to find fault with the Israeli government. -

Your ignorance is astounding. Israel is only defending itself, which any nation has a right to do. They have constantly been attacked by terrorists and you can't see that. Very tragic. -

To begin with, TV stations don't like to show such horrors. Secondly, the Israeli government spokeperson(s) said the government cannot confirm the story about heads of babies being cut off. This is what CNN says about it: quote “There have been cases of Hamas militants carrying out beheadings and other ISIS-style atrocities. However, we cannot confirm if the victims were men or women, soldiers or civilians, adults or children,” the official said. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that people had been beheaded by Hamas in an appearance beside Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday, but did not specify if they were children. His office later released what it described as “horrifying photos of babies murdered and burned by the Hamas monsters.” The three photos showed two babies whose bodies had been burned beyond recognition and a third infant’s bloodstained body. The post said that Netanyahu showed Blinken the photos, as well as others. The explosive allegations that children had been decapitated at the kibbutz of Kfar Aza emerged Tuesday in Israeli media. Israel Defense Forces later described the scene as a “massacre” in a statement to CNN. Women, children toddlers and the elderly were “brutally butchered in an ISIS way of action,” the IDF said. Tal Heinrich, a spokeswoman for Netanyahu, said on Wednesday that babies and toddlers had been found with their “heads decapitated” in Kfar Aza. In Israel, 'the place where you want your kids to grow up' has suddenly turned into the front line US President Joe Biden appeared to confirm that information. In a roundtable with Jewish community leaders on Wednesday, he said: “I have been doing this a long time, I never really thought that I would see… have confirmed pictures of terrorist beheading children.” A US administration official later clarified Biden’s remarks, telling CNN that neither Biden nor his aides had seen pictures or had received confirmed reports of children or infants having been beheaded by Hamas. The official clarified that Biden was referring to public comments from media outlets and Israeli officials. An IDF spokesman, Jonathan Conricus, later in the day said terrorists had likely carried out decapitations of babies in the Be’eri kibbutz. “We got very very disturbing reports that came from the ground that there were babies that had been beheaded… I think we can now say with relative confidence that unfortunately this is what happened in Be’eri,” he said. Israeli officials initially avoided discussing the specifics of how its citizens were killed. They instead likened Hamas’ brutality to that of ISIS, the Sunni terror group that beheaded captives and burned prisoners alive. You should have been doing some study of this for years. The reports about the brutal murders by Hamas have been widely reported on the news for days. You could try Google if you want to know more details. Why would you expect me to provide proof of what has been on the media for the past week? When we talk about anti-Semites or anti-Semitism with reference to the Holocaust, Israel, or the middle east conflict, we are referring to the Jews being the target. That is what anti-Semitism refers to, discrimination or persecution of the Jews. The Jewish religion and Islam are two different religions. Israel is mainly a Jewish state and the surrounding Arab countries are Islamic and oppose Israel. Innocent people do get killed in Gaza simply because the Hamas terrorists hide behind them and use them as shields. Does that mean Israel should just let Hamas kill Israelis and do nothing? Israel has no way to defend itself apart from going after the terrorists and is doing the best it can. They are only interested in going after Hamas or similar terrorists. I already explained the reason why Israel has a right to exist but you chose to ignore the whole subject. Like a little kid, you just keep repeating the view that the genocide against the Jews does not exist and it is all Israel's fault. You ignore the fact that the attacks against Israel are all part of a broad agenda to destroy Israel. -

Back off. ? She is obviously a classic anti-Semite who doesn't believe Israel has a right to exist. Back off what? Why would you think Israel does not have the right to exist or defend itself? Oh, I forgot. You don't have any idea of history, or of Israel's right to exist and are still living in the world of anti-Semites in your mind. You have lots of company. Thousands exist in many countries in Europe and have for centuries. That's how Germany arrived at the Holocaust. Why would you want to identify with the hoards of Islamic supporters in Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, London, Stockholm, and other places cheering for Hamas after they brutally slaughtered 1,500 men, women, and children in Israel. Sadly you don't understand what political Islam's purpose is in the world, particularly the Islamic Jihadists. Its primary purpose is to eliminate Israel and kill every Jew and force everyone to bow to it's religion. That is what the terrorist groups around Israel are attempting to do. That is what the Islamic theocracy in Iran and Afghanistan (Taliban) are doing. That is why Iran supports the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah. Why allow yourself to be conned and drawn into the group supporting hateful murderers? -

In other words let Hamas continue to shoot rockets into Israel, continue to come into Israel and murder innocent families, children and everyone, continue to cut off Israeli babies heads, or anyone they can find in Israel, continue to build up their murderous Jihad terrorist forces in tunnels and throughout Gaza for the purpose killing Israelis. Do you really know what this is all about or know what you are talking about? You think Israel should have to live with murdering Jihadists next door and do nothing about it? -

I never said anything about converting your religion. We are talking about support of Hamas. This is nothing to do with pushing a religion on you. That is a phony claim. Nice diversion. But you know what this thread is about. My comments were referring to your claimed neutrality. You somehow think Islamic jihad is a benign entity and that you can be neutral or not against it. Not sure where you get your logic. Your claim that jihad is benign term is phony. The dictionary I looked at on the internet says: Jihad - a struggle or fight against the enemies of Islam: By claiming you are neutral, you are not standing up for human rights and western civilization because this is about Jihad against Israel. It is all about completely destroying Israel which is not an Islamic country. Hamas and those other terrorist groups are all about spreading Islam. Somehow you can't seem to see that or you deliberately refuse to take a side. That is much like trying to be neutral in WW2 while the Nazis are attacking the Allies. -

So you pretend to be neutral and won't support the west, wont' support democratic countries. By being neutral you are actually supporting terrorism and the Islamic Jihad. Are you sure you are not an Islamist of some kind? Or do you actually believe they are just a benign religion on the same level as Judeo-Christianity in the west. Do you really think Israel and the Islamic countries which are full of Jihad supporters are in the same category? No wonder you want me to block you. So you can spout nonsense without any pushback from me. -
Why do you not understand our energy industry and Canada's resource industry depends on exporting oil, gas and other natural resources to other countries. That is what provide Canada's prosperity. The fact that the resource industries are multi-national makes no difference because they still pay royalties to the provinces and pay high-paying wages to Canadian workers. That is the way it always has been. Canada does not have the resources to built resource companies by itself and depends highly on foreign investment in the form of multinational corporations. That is what makes Canada. This is where the NDP and other leftists have no clue about how our country works. We are a western free enterprise country built on Capitalism and foreign investment. That is what gives us our prosperity. Without that we would be a poverty-stricken banana republic. That is why the B.C. NDP's opposition to expanding the Trans Mountain pipeline was ridiculous and harmful to Canada. It is also another reason why B.C. has the highest gas prices at the pump in north America. We don't export just to China. We export to many countries, wherever we can sell our natural resources. Trudeau refusing to build pipelines and export to the other half of the world has greatly harmed Canada.

This is great news for the provinces. The ruling will be celebrated by Alberta and many others in Canada who believe Trudeau, Guilbeault and the Liberal-NDP coalition have been trampling on the rights of provinces and Canadians. They thought they were the absolute dictators of Canada but just learned there is a Constitution that they must follow. Trudeau and Liberals thought they had the SCC in their pocket, but there is a glimmer of hope here finally. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled Friday against federal legislation dealing with the environmental effects of major developments. Five out of seven judges found most of the law unconstitutional, because it seeks to regulate activities within provincial jurisdiction. You are mixed up. I was talking about the Northern Gateway Pipeline project which Trudeau cancelled eight years ago. The hereditary radical red power chiefs were trying to stop the Coastal Gaslink pipeline project which was half built a couple years ago. Environmental radicals joined them to try to stop the project in northwest B.C. Those were two different projects. The Coastal Gaslink project received approval from the B.C. government a long time ago and is partly built now. That is a gas pipeline, not oil. It will take natural gas from northeast B.C. and Alberta to Kitimat where it will be shipped. the FN bands along the route all support the pipeline. Hereditary chiefs don't support it because they are out of touch with most FNs and band councils and don't represent them.
-
The hereditary chiefs do not represent the FNs in B.C. They are a small group of extreme red power radicals who claim special privilege on the basis of the old hereditary aboriginal system. You are talking about the coastal gaslink pipeline which is partly constructed now. That is not the same things as the Northern Gateway Oil pipeline project that was killed by Trudeau eight years ago. Most of the elected band councils along the route of the Coastal Gaslink pipeline approved natural gas pipeline project. Red power radicals in Ontario know nothing about B.C. and how FNs are governed and they don't care. They are simply opposed to Canada building natural resource projects. They are influence by Communists and agitators. They should have been thrown in jail for blocking the railways back east. They were not elected by anybody and are simply radical leftists trying to take advantage of a project dispute between radicals in B.C. and a government approved gas pipeline project that is well on the way to being completed.

"Northern Gateway has some aboriginal support. Enbridge says 26 aboriginal communities have accepted its offer of a 10 per cent equity stake in the project to be divided among the 45 communities directly affected by the pipeline. Of those, the majority were in Alberta. Just 11 of 27 eligible communities in British Columbia have signed on." Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline: Some B.C. First Nations say there will be no compromise | CBC News The process of negotiation was ongoing and pipeline had not even been started being constructed. It takes time to negotiate with such a large number of FN communities. This is always the case because that is the way Canada is populated. It is the same for many projects. Hearings had been held across the route of the pipeline for two years. Some groups will never approve. It is nonsense to say a project needs 100% approval. It is not realistic. If projects required 100% approval, nothing would ever get built or done. When Trudeau was elected in 2015, he killed the project. That was the end of it. Then brought in a tanker ban on the west coast to stop oil tankers from being used. He sabotaged a major project.
-
Ottawa killed the Energy East pipeline project. They also killed the Northern Gateway Pipeline project to the B.C. coast. Canada could have been shipping natural gas to Europe and other places but Ottawa drags its feet and doesn't help. Alberta and Canada could have been making a lot more money if Ottawa didn't get in the way.
-
Better go back to school. Natural resource exports is Canada's main industry and make the most money. Canada can't compete with China, Asia, and Mexico in manufacturing because those countries pay slave wages and poor benefits. We make our money on shipping natural resources such as oil and minerals. We could have been making lots of money on natural gas too if Ottawa had not blocked natural gas exports and not blocked the building of pipelines east and west. Europe and other countries are begging for our natural gas but the Trudeau government is obsessed with fighting climate change and won't help. They are next to useless.
-
Still owned by Alberta. Alberta receives the royalties from the oilsands production and has made billions of dollars on it over the years. Ottawa steals Alberta's wealth and gives it to Quebec.

" Footnote 19 of the same Wikipedia article cites to a April 13, 1971 article from The Ottawa Journal. The article states that the Trudeaus were visiting an unidentified island in the Caribbean and wanted the press to give them privacy: To be clear: they disclosed all the other locations they visited but asked the press for privacy when they went to the “unidentified” island. Come on. Justin Trudeau was born 8 1/2 months later. In 1976, Pierre eagerly became the first NATO leader to travel to Cuba. He brought his wife. Before even leaving the tarmac, both Trudeaus were showing an unusual amount of familiarity with Fidel considering he was a national leader they just allegedly met. Within hours of their first official meeting, Margaret was photographed intimately touching and holding Fidel Castro with both arms.
