  1. In other words you don't see any value in an open competition, more back room deals? How can you proclaim the F35? I better rush out and buy an iPhone 7, because everyone is getting them and I don't want to be left behind.
  2. Certainly that is one way, but how do you distribute the money? Does that mean the the few Haitians that put their name on the Internet receive millions and others nothing? How do you build schools, hospitals, etc. with this money? Are these individuals taxed on what they receive? Your intent is right, but I don't think practical.
  3. BBC budget is £4.722 billion or about $8 billion Canadian.
  4. I have no problem about educating our children about the full history of the Church. Now inviting a priest and having him sit through a lecture on witch burnings or residential school abuses is simply disrespectful. Understand your resources, and use them wisely in the curriculum.
  5. Yes, that will be a problem. The intent however is this will be an interim purchase, not an entire replacement fleet. If in 25 years, we have a mixed fleet and some fool decides to keep operating the Super Hornets then that will be a problem.
  6. I have no issues about having a guest lecturer (say Priest) being invited into schools to add to a social studies curriculum and give a history of the church's involvement in Canadian history. Yes, if a prayer (Lord's or otherwise) were read by him (I assume only male Priests still in Catholic church as I believe RCWP is not recognized, but her if other denomination) or other appropriate ceremonial ritual is acceptable. We are talking the difference between "education" and "indoctrination". You realize that non-Christian religions do not burn up if they hear or even read the Lord's prayer:
  7. So Trudeau is not going to Castro's funeral because he has other commitments, and the Governor General is going. Is this Trudeau capitulating to political pressure, or is it a real conflict. No matter what the truth is, it will be spun by everyone so have at 'er.
  8. What part of once, versus daily ritual was hard for you to follow?
  9. You do realize that much of hydro is dispatchable. Generally it is only run of the river hydro that is not. Yes there are some huge run of the river installations (e.g. Sir Adam Beck), along with a lot of micro hydro ones as well, but that still leaves a lot behind controlled release dams.
  10. Yes, the Liberal government is far from clean on this one. The bigger problem however is the wasted decade when no progress was made. I give the Liberals 10% of the fault, based on time in office wasted. We need a competition to validate the claims and understand what the relative benefits are. Suggesting that a competition is wasteful just leads to the same back-door corruption we have been trying to eliminate reduce.
  11. It seems your serious men in black read Michael Hirsh back in May during the primaries.
  12. Great, so let's define the requirements and have a competition based on the complete merits of all options. That is all I have been asking for for years, but the answer has always been - but fifth generation.
  13. Yes, I think our system needs to change as well. I have been advocating proportional representation for years.
  14. The national anthem is played in schools across the land, and the children are expected to stand. In some schools I expect they are still expected to sing it as well. Are you suggesting that be changed?
  15. It has been the competitors that have been lobbying for this, they are whining that the CBC is taking their ad revenue. If you think this is a silly idea, then tell the whiny children in the competitive market to suck it up and offer better programming so they can win over the ad revenue.
  16. Yes, and what did participation amount to? Standing around holding a cedar branch and watch/listen to a ceremony.
  17. Yup it certainly is. Lose by 2,330,544 votes and still get the Presidency.
  18. Yes, my kids were forced to hold a cedar branch when they went on a field trip to a local park. Such terrible coercion by the school, forcing them to get in touch with nature. The school should have just shown them a picture of a cedar tree in a book and then they would be educated.
  19. Why do you need base-load if you have dispatchable power? You do realize that in Ontario we are paying dearly for the high level of base-load power from nuclear?
  20. Yes, if there were a daily smudging ceremony then it would be a problem. This however was educational because it was a once-of event. That is why there is a difference between a priest visiting a school and reading the Lord's prayer, and having the children recite it every morning.
  21. It is not about replace, it is about displace.
  22. I'll see your Trudeau gaffe, and raise you 100 Trump gaffe's.
  23. What part of health care delivery being a provincial responsibility do you not get? I suppose you didn't see that Saskatchewan has had a significant problem in the last few years with hip & knee replacements, slowly increasing wait times from some of the best in the nation to the absolute worst.
  24. Don't you just hate it when you wake up and have to read that French on your corn flakes box? It puts you in a bad mood for the rest of the day, and you start ranting like a little child.
