Alcohol sold in Ontario corner stores
Boges replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Absolute bullshit. Sure alcohol relaxes you just like tobacco does and if taken in excess you get an altered sense of being. But if alcohol was no more than a drug and people didn't enjoy the taste then the LCBO would be out of business because people would be drinking Purell. I was actually skeptical about the quality of different types of whiskey. Until my wife bought be a bottle of single malt rye for by birthday. If you try that then pour a some Crown, Crown tastes like water. Like everything it's an acquired taste though. -
Well I know you're responding to my reaction to the story about libraries. In which a reporter just went to a library and asked people why they were there. Not exactly hard-nosed journalism. Don't get me wrong, The Star is my online news source usually. But their editorial slant and mine often disagree. But that's part of the fun.

I would like to see it too. Would be interesting to see how real life sniping differs from what we see in TV, Movies and Video Games.

NFL linemen aren't agile? Ask Jake Long that. I doubt coaches that put in 80 hour weeks during the football season would be lost because of simple rule changes.

For the most part McCowan is a complete moron. An entertaining moron however. Great he's American and has a hard-on for the CFL, he'd be an expert in both leagues. Are we really going to have to go through this again. The best players go to the NFL because that's where the money is. It's not an assessment of the game (though I believe the American version is better) You can't compare the two leagues.

Canada's political system vs. US political system
Boges replied to sammykp's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Senate in both countries is stupid. It's useless in Canada. And in America it allows senators in states from buttfack nowhere to have the same power as people from important states like Florida, Texas, California and New York. -
I'm not a fan of the Star's editorial bias. Just this one column has an agreeable opinion to mine, that's all.
-
What a stupid debate. Cleo Lemon and Ricky Ray would beat Peyton Manning and Drew Brees because the rules are different? That's laughable.

I think we can safely disregard everything else she says from now on. -

I'm sure Ford has plenty of solutions. He just wanted to let people talk too. He did just that. Did you hear the lady that sang a song? What about the dood that called Ford a drunk and wanted to fight him. Then there was the lady that said Ford is threatening to take away children's parks so they won't be able to collect Pine Cones anymore.

Actually Tim Hudak has said that he would look at going back to buck-a-beer if he was elected. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2011/02/08/hudak-buck-beer.html It's beyond me how an extra few cents a beer would prevent binge drinking. If I wanted to get drunk fast, beer would not be my first choice. -

Well I know Dalton changed Liquor laws so when you go to events like Ribfests, you don't have to stay in a crowded beer tent like a child, you can actually walk around. Amongst other things. The bitching about the price is my own doing, I think we pay way to much for booes, but I guess M Dancer is right, it's more about the ridiculous taxes charged. I think we'll disagree on the fact that the province does set minimum prices for alcohol. So if other people were allowed sell booes like your local Mac's Milk, the price might drop. The issue is the government has made selling tobacco so taboo, you're average corner store is really struggling and maybe allowing them to sell beer would help them out. -
Well you know if I posted a story from the SUN, you'd say the exact opposite I did. Not all Star columnists are militant idiots like Heather Mallick and Joe Fiorito.

Luckily they should last for over a decade. Maybe we should be raging at the price of anything in Canada. Which is why people go across one of the bridges over the Niagara river to shop for stuff in the US. -
I'd just like to point out that Jay Cutler is a big sissy. He's an Emo QB. The Bears just traded one of their top receivers to the Panthers yesterday too.

There isn't a Bay in Milton, just a Zellers, which will soon be a Target. Home Outfitters is a good store for small appliances and housewares. It's owned by HBC but it's prices are a bit more reasonable. -

I think the only people that shop at the Bay are buying stuff for Wedding registries. The Bay is horribly overpriced. -
I didn't hear every person that spoke. Who did? But from what I gather it was people that wanted zero cuts and higher taxes. Of course it wouldn't be them paying for the taxes. Mayor Ford said that there just isn't enough money to pay for some of the frills the city has. Here's a good column by the STAR!!!!! http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1031957--dimanno-nothing-is-sacred-even-libraries-as-city-must-bite-the-bullet What it appears is that everyone that spoke thinks the service they use is a civil right. Apparently a lady came that said she couldn't think of paying more for a city run fitness program so taxes should be raised. When asked how she could consider paying more for taxes but not more for a user fee. She went on a rant about people that have 2-car garages. She just wanted other people to pay for the services she uses. Another lady came on and sarcastically said that perhaps the mayor should cut all services and make Toronto only a place for the rich. I'm sure this meeting was made so some busy-body could come up and use hyperbole implying that if any cuts are made it's the same is cutting the whole budget. From what I hear almost no one that spoke had concrete solutions to solve the problem. Unless of course you just want to put your head in the sand and deny that there is a problem. Apparently to make up a quarter billion in revenue from property taxes alone would take a 30% hike. Who'd be willing to pay that? But props to Mayor Ford for sitting there all day and night to listen to everyone.

Canada's growth isn't coming from Quebec. It's the West and Ontario that fuels Ontario's growth in numbers.

I've never seen him write for the Sun. I think it's Mike Strobel. -
In what part of the country? BTW once the ridings are re-aligned Ontario, Alberta and BC will have more seats. Quebec. . . the same. LOL Lower Canada
-
Wow 40 MP's Good job tough guy. That's like what a 1 or 2 seat improvement on the '08 election. The NDP is irrelevant Federally in most of the country.
