  1. After the 2004 lockout the Leafs have been largely a joke. But they've only had one or two of absolutely dreadful years. The worst year they actually didn't get a pick, thanks to Kessel. That trade has turned out to be the best thing Burkie did. 100% of Leafs fans would take Kessel over Tyler Seguin and something called Doug Hamilton. I reckon Dallas Eakins is pissed he left the Marlies.
  2. This is why I don't think full legalization of MJ will work as well as people think. It would be hypocritical for the government to not tax weed at a comparable rate as tobacco, so people will just grow it at home or do what smokers do and buy it off a reserve.
  3. Hybrids aren't affordable to many. The cost-benefit analysis of owning one doesn't make sense. How about we make cars that run on Natural Gas?
  4. I think BD said he's an Oilers fan. Currently they're a bigger trainwreck than the Leafs ever were under Burkie or JF2.
  5. By that logic, anyone councillor that said anything crude about Ford shouldn't have voted on stripping his powers in November. Also this mayor approved the cops getting like a 3% a year raise in their latest contract.
  6. If lobbyists were in control of the government then why is there 70% taxation? Is it some sort of compromise? There are other nicotine delivery methods that are illegal. And in the US where tobacco is much cheaper there are mall kiosks that sell E-cigarettes with nicotine. This smacks of government upset that they might not be able to get a vig off smokers anymore. Obviously a prohibition of tobacco won't work so even presenting such an argument is ridiculous.
  7. Yeah because a Liberal candidate that speaks out again increased transit funding would last long.
  8. This is evidence that governments are completely hypocritical about their approach to tobacco. http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/01/21/ban-on-nicotine-loaded-e-cigarettes-aggressively-enforced-while-some-anti-smoking-advocates-call-for-legalization/ Gotta keep raising taxes! Yet you don't ban people buying tobacco off reserves? Then when a technology that seems to be very effective in weaning people off tobacco it's banned? If anything it keeps people from inhaling the many harmful chemicals known we seen in tobacco products. Also there's no second-hand smoke. The only reasons I can think of, is that there isn't a way to apply draconian taxation on this nicotine "juice". Or the government really doesn't want people to quit, they just want people to be willing to pay 70% taxation on smokes.
  9. NHL players! you get your own Cruise Ship for evacuation. Everyone else huddle into the HMS Saskatoon.
  10. If I remember correctly he was musing about running for speaker after the election. Doing that would have given the Liberals a defacto majority. He clearly doesn't play nice with Hudak. I'm shocked Wynne doesn't want to call a by-election for him today.
  11. Sounds like Lisi is the only real friend he has. All his other friends record him drunk and give it to the media.
  12. 6 Wins in a row! Kessel is a machine!
  13. There was a media report when the whole crack thing was at it's peak, in October, that said he was caught trying to drive home drunk from an event and the police let it slide. I think one of the minor concessions he did make was to get a driver though.
  14. Gotta give him a bit of credit. He went 3 months or so without an incident without any professional help. Imagine if he just accepted good advice and did seek out help. :-/
  15. I actually just heard a soundclip on the radio where he admitted he had been drinking. He does sound like someone who has a problem. He's clearly an alcoholic who's fallen off the wagon. It's unfortunate for him because it was obvious to all that he was losing weight and appeared to have cleaned up his act a bit.
  16. If this was an isolated incident it wouldn't be a big deal. It's compounded by the fact that he's said he was living clean. He shouldn't make that pledge if he can't follow through because there are many people that will try to hold him accountable.
  17. Yeah he admitted it was yesterday just now. He denies he was drunk, take that for what it's worth.
  18. Facepalm! http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2014/01/21/rob_ford_new_video_shows_mayor_rambling_slurring_his_words.html Who cares if he was using a Jamaican accent. The story here is that he's appearing in public drunk again. Clearly he's fallen off the wagon again. Then again you can't verify WHEN this video was taken. Maybe there's a stockpile of Rob Ford drunk videos that can be released every time things simmer down a bit.
  19. Stones seem like a gimmick to have you go through the expensive scotch faster. I water it down cuz I'm cheap!!!!
  20. Hockey is about to do it for the 5th time to have the Olympics. I know hockey is different, but no one cares that the MLS is interrupted for the World Cup.
  21. What progress has been made on the fact that the battery in E-cars are very difficult to dispose of? Everyone's favourite NeoCon went to town on Neil in today's column in the Sun. Apparently he's being funded by Tides. http://www.torontosun.com/2014/01/20/young-changes-his-tune-at-last-canuck-concert
  22. It's good they're playing well because the Raptors have decided to tank again. Kadri must really be afraid of getting traded.
  23. No he won't. Any team that signs him immediately become the focus of Sports MSM and Fundamentalist Christians that think he should be in the NFL because he's a swell guy.
  24. So the Tebow thread is the board's defacto NFL thread?
  25. I think there's a legit threat. Threats have been made, that being said, I'm sure security will be tight. But Russia is no stranger to massive terrorist attacks.
