New NDP ad's (English, still no blinking)
Newfoundlander replied to TheNewTeddy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Guess those posts don't exist then. The NDP have a new leader so how exactly do we know what the parties policies are? It's all right for you to say the grassroots choose the policy but if they did why was Brian Topp saying he'd raise corporate taxes by 50%? -

When have I showed time and time again I don't understand their policies? I don't know all of them and have likely made mistakes on their policies in the past, why don't you go find my quotes of where I made mistakes show them to me and tell me how I was wrong? -

If it is a bilingual country why wasn't the release it French and why wasn't it for FRENCH CANADIANS? -

I think Newfoundland and Labrador, and the rest of Canada, would be better off without Quebec. I agree with what separatist want to do, nothing wrong that. -

I don't give a shit who releases it, it doesn't change the fact that it's idiotic. It's nice you're defending what the NDP do by saying the Conservative government also does it. -

I don't hate Quebec, I just want them to separate. Now when it comes to commies like you I could use more powerful language. -

The Conservative budget: no relief for Quebeckers It wasn't just a release in French it was a release for Quebec. What about people who speak French in all other provinces? -

I don't understand releasing a Quebec ad before an ad for the rest of Canada. He's already well known in Quebec, it's the ROC where people don't know who he is. -

How long the party can afford to keep these on the air will probably be the most important thing. -
Bob Rae vs. Thomas Mulcair

So you think it's possible to cut 1% from government spending while keeping the civil service the same size? Attrition doesn't count because the NDP also considers that layoffs. -

This is all the opposition does. In Newfoundland and Labrador the NDP campaigned on cutting spending by 1%, but now that the PC government is looking to see if they can reduce the civil service through attrition and laying off contractual employees or those who are not permanent they are up in arms complaining about them getting rid of jobs. -

So you're telling me if the NDP had won power in 2008 the world recession that followed wouldn't have had an impact on how they governed, that they would have done everything they had said no matter what was happening globally? -

So why can't the NDP come out and show Canadians a spread sheet today saying if we were in today corporate taxes would be rolled back bringing in so much money, tough on crime legislation would be axed saving this much money, etc. etc. and be able to tell Canadians that in 2012 an NDP government would have a deficit of however much compared to the Conservatives. It may just be for show but at least it would be putting in some effort. Opposition parties should be telling us regularly how they would govern, not every four years. Especially with new leaders involved. -

The projections will likely change but they knew what was going on this year to release a budget. Did the NDP know how much the economy was going to grow over 4 years and what are revenues were going to be for each year? -

OH I DIDN'T REALIZE THEY LAID IT OUT YEAR BY YEAR KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH THE ECONOMY. -

For the last two years the Wildrose Party have provided Albertans with the budget they would have implemented had they been in power, and look where they are in polls. It's easy for opposition parties to criticize budgets not being balanced and spending being cut. Jack Layton said a year ago he'd balance the budget the same time as Harper so why can't the NDP release a "budget" saying what they'd do if they were in power? Mulcair says he wants to be seen as an alternative, then give us the alternative. Bob Rae says the age for OAS shouldn't change and complains about budget cuts then tell us how to ge back to a balanced budget in the medium term. -

Harper is delighted by this. The Liberals are stupid to have come out against the budget completely anyways. As has been mentioned in the media, and probably in these threads, this budget could have been a Liberal budget. I can understand opposing elements and what not but I believe Rae said something like they were against everything in budget, which is just a bit stupid and an easy way out. Time for both opposition parties to become alternative parties. Where are there budgets on what they would do if they were in power? -
Harper doing the shuffle again.

Unless you get caught up in a sex scandal Harper will you allow to keep your job, and I highly doubt Fantino is involved in any kind of sex scandal (I hope). I also don't think it is very likely that Harper will make any changes to cabinet before the house adjourns for the Summer.
