Until he's in custody he's just an unlawful combatant and as such the legal combatants on the field had every right to kill him. You can't expect soldiers to id people before they defend themselves. The Canadian government under Chretien and then Harper didn't mete out any injustice on him, they just didn't fight to get him released. And with him being a murderer and war criminal, why should we care? Khadr was born and raised to be a terrorist with bomb-making videos on the internet. Can you cite the "evidence that he didn't kill anyone"? You know that he pleaded guilty, right? More stupidity. No one is saying that Bisonette should be rehabilitated or released. I get that he was an adult but he was a non-muslim and no one is crying because he's in jail. It was completely unjustified. He was old enough to know right from wrong and he killed someone. If there's a requirement to rehabilitate him it should be done while he's behind bars. That's not shithole justice. Shithole justice is when a woman goes to jail for decades because she took off her own hijab, or when a 15 girl gets raped because she didn't have a hijab on and the police just laugh.

The FBI was considered to be the most respectable police force in the world up until 2 years ago, now they're a farce. The IG concluded that there was no bias in the FBI despite the fact that they made "17 significant errors and omissions" which all pointed in the same direction. That's farcical. I never even heard of the GAO until a week ago, I have no reason to believe that they're any more credible than the FBI, The Dems, CNN or the IG. -
If the shoe fits wear it. You never admit when you're wrong, you just wait a couple days and say the exact same things that were proven false. You have the accountability of a ferret. You're wrong again, as always. A phobia is an 'irrational' fear. And what you're talking about isn't 'fear', it's just the truth. Eg, a person is afraid of daddy-long-legs spiders, and those spiders aren't harmful to humans at all. That's arachnophobia. Another person says "Funnel-Web spiders are venomous, and their venom, if left untreated, is a serious threat to life, especially in children." That's not arachnophobia, it's just a fact about funnel-web spiders. That's another lie. When people yell ___________ ____________ to their god and kill children in his name, they're the ones who get to decide why they killed and then died. Not you. There you go, justifying terrorism again, out of your sheer ignorance. Terrorist attack girls in Afghanistan for going to school and they attack other muslims all the time. People like you who justify the existence of Pakistan, despite the murders of over 13 million people since their foundation in the '40s, but justify terrorist attacks against Israel, created in similar fashion but with less than 1% of the deaths, are just bigots. You are a bigot. You just don't know it. The history of the ME was no better than it's post-1940s history. Explain to me why they needed to kill tens of millions of people in India when they were never attacked?

When people wear a military uniform with a flag on it and enter a warzone, thereby making it legal for their enemies to kill them, those brave people get the protection of the Geneva Conventions. People in a warzone without a uniform & flag are not legal targets, and they can't be killed by military personnel. But in the instances where those 'civilians' do engage military personnel they are considered unlawful combatants and they don't get the same protections of the Geneva Conventions. If Khadr was killed where he stood it wouldn't have been an issue. The fact that he was allowed to live is more than he deserved.
-
Khadr wasn't entitled to that money. The money was given to him based on the supposition that he was denied a quick and fair trial, but there's no precedent for giving people who were caught on the battlefield a trial. Canadian POWs didn't sue Germany for the lack of a trial, and by the same token German POWs didn't sue Canada either. A trial for a POW isn't really a thing. When Khadr was apprehended he didn't even have the right to the normal protections of the Geneva conventions because he was an unlawful combatant (he wasn't young enough to be considered a child soldier either). He was caught, he was detained, and as long as the conflict in Afghanistan was going on he should have stayed there.

WestCanMan replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Trump actually has veto power, so if he withheld the aid I'm fairly certain that it was within his constitutional authority to do so. He just needed to come out and say the words or it's weaselly. It would truly be a serious abuse of power if Trump withheld the money specifically for the purpose of coercing Ukraine to make up things about Biden, as per Schiff's accusation, but we all know that never happened because there's no need to make anything up about Biden. The truth is that what Biden did really does warrant an investigation. . Trump did the same thing that Hillary and the Dems did in 2016 when he asked for an investigation, there's no way that you can possibly split this into - it was ok when the Dems did a 3 yr long false accusation and Trump was wrong to ask for a proper, legitimate investigation based on lots of very real, incontrovertible evidence. -
So, you're admitting that they progressed. And, tbh, it probably wasn't just the religion, there were a lot of people who were only loosely-affiliated with the religion involved in the process. Maybe it also had to do with mass media. Maybe it was because people from all over Europe integrated together in NA and found out that their similarities outweighed their differences. I don't honestly know why, but whatever it was, the progress was real. Islam hasn't made that jump yet on a broad front.
-
The whole point is that Christianity progressed. It's a much better brand now than it was 1,000 years ago. How awesome of a place to live in is Iran, or Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia ,or Pakistan right now? Honestly dialamah, do some deep soul searching and answer that question. If that's the evolution of Islam then can you really say with any honesty that it's a force for goodness, understanding and inclusivity? Are those things a part of islam at all? Why is it that in a place like the Phillipines that the muslims there need to have their own islands where only islam is allowed? They've been terrorists there since before WWII. Why can't they just live there in peace with their neighbours? Why do they need their own apartment building in Toronto which can't be touched by non-muslims? My bold prediction: you have zero answers and you'll ignore all evidence that's contrary to your iron-clad beliefs. Cognitive dissonance is intra-cranial blasphemy ( I just coined that term, it's awesome).
-
Honestly eyeball you either have no clue or you lie about any topic that you touch on, and your "joke" is predicated on falsehoods so it's not really a joke. What you call 'islamophobia' is actually just a logical conclusion based on over a thousand years of history and the deplorable shithole conditions that currently exist in every single country that's dominated by islam. Those conditions existed before Trump, they existed before 1492, they existed before the crusades (they were the cause of the crusades), and they exist between Islam and Hinduism (even moreso than Christianity), they exist between Islam and Sikhism, they exist between Islam and Buddhism, they exist between Islam and homosexuality, etc. Individuals who loosely identify as muslims can rise above these issues, just like you can be an American an not be a Green Beret commando, but terrorism and xenophobia are an extremely integral part of islamic culture. The feigned inclusivity at the edge of islamic visitors is window dressing, the core of islam is brutal and oppressive. Go to an islamic country and act gay if you don't believe me. Wear a small cross around your neck, visible to the public. You'll definitely meet some nice people who'll give you good advice, but you won't be safe and the police/government won't participate in keeping you safe. You can't be a gay activist over there and wear pink hair, but it's safe for women to speak in favour of islam here with burkas on. Go figger. We just are a better society than they are, as far as people with actual liberal values are concerned. If you think I'm wrong then take on my statements head-on. Try to find fault somewhere. My prediction is that you will ignore what you can't disprove (which is everything) and come back with some Trudeaupian ad-hominem attacks. And that's based on hundreds of your posts, so I can tell you in advance that my prediction will be correct.
-
Wow, so that's what it's like for a religion/culture to progress.
-
1)That's idiocy. You saw how easily the US wiped out the Iraqi army. You don't think that Europe and NA could squash the ME countries if they wanted to? 2)If islam isn't a problem, then why is it that as soon as there's any instability over there they all just start stabbing each other? It's like a real-life version of the movie The Purge. 3)There's a problem with religion in general, Islam is just the worst of a bad lot.
-
You can tell how evil people are by what kinds of things they (eyeball) can justify.
-
You're spouting the exact type of ignorance that justifies the next wave of terrorist attacks. Islamic terrorist attacks didn't just start in 1947, or 1914. Look at what happened in southern Europe for centuries before the crusades started, or what happened in India once Europe was no longer a soft target. Google Banu Qurayza for a glimpse of what can be "justified". Compare that to anything that big, bad Donald Trump has ever done. And for that matter, can you tell me what's the worst thing that Trump has ever done? Trump inherited a lot of enormous messes, with bodies piling up everywhere. What's Trump's body count eyeball? And don't count the people killed by Iranian missiles, only a small percentage of people on the planet are stupid enough to believe that.
-
18.8% lol. The point-eight makes it look soooo official and accurate. We've seen this kind of stat trotted out before by apologist groups. They count things like graffiti on the side of a church as a terrorist attack. Sorry but that's not terrorism it's just idiocy. Apologists don't get to create their own watered-down definition of what a terrorist attack is and then use it to build a false narrative. We know what actual terrorist attacks are. Terrorist attacks, like the ones in the list on wiki which you neglected to comment on (elephant in the room again), are committed by people who have the intent to maim or kill to further a religious/political cause. It's the same as the definition of rape (now sexual assault). If a girl on a date gets naked but she doesn't want to be touched on the vagina, and she gets touched on the vagina, it's called sexual assault, just like it's called sexual assault if a group of guys breaks into a girl's apartment and pin her down, beat her, and force themselves on her. They're clearly not the same thing, but they fit neatly into the same statistical category so idiots can now say "xx.x% of the girls on Yyyyyy Campus get sexually assaulted every year". It's great for activists but it diminishes the seriousness of actual rape, which is it's own type of heinous, violent criminal activity. Broadening the definition of something to the point where it no longer accurately describes anything isn't a positive evolution of the language.

I’m not trying to insult you or your post, I just don’t have time to reply to it all. The vast majority of Muslims live in countries with laws that are extremely bigoted towards people of minority religions. Bigoted to the point where minorities are afraid for their wives and children if they don’t convert. Bigoted to the point where women are forced to wear islamic head coverings or they face harassment, violence, rape, or jail time. The simple fact of the matter is if you wanna live in a Muslim majority country you’re not safe unless you’re a Muslim yourself. If the vast majority of the people there opposed this type of behaviour then it wouldn’t really be a thing.
-
Go to google, type in “number of terrorist attacks in [pick a month and year]” and look at the list of attacks that comes up. See how many were Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Wiccans, Jews, etc. Do the math. I know that doesn’t mean all muslims are terrorists, but it shows that almost all terrorists are muslims. We shouldn’t be racing to bring in as many as we can from the countries with the highest terrorism rates, and countries where religious bigotry is enforced by the government.
-
Your reply is very politically correct, but if you're being truly honest, you're just an expert at ignoring the elephant in the room. There are over 100 terrorist attacks on the planet, month after month, and 99% of them come from 1/4 of the earth's population. You can consider that to come from pure randomness if you want, but people who can do simple math can use that info to make predictions about next month and the month after that. You stick to your religion and your strict moral compass to try to predict the future and I'll use math, thanks. FYI I'm well aware of my threshold for violence and I've never come close to being charged for any kind of assault, I don't care what you want to surmise from my posts. I tell the truth, it's usually uncomfortable for people in the post-truth age, so what? Trudeau still hasn't found a way to criminalize it, try though he may.
-
You're the one who said that you feared committing acts of unreasonable violence. Why? I literally never feel like I will commit an unreasonable act of violence so I just want a peek into the mind of someone who does, or did. You're putting the cart before the horse. The history of violence is the reason for the commentary on the history of violence. I didn't find some random reason to make stuff up. Be a student of history, not a purveyor of bullshit. 1) It's not easy to be violent Rue. Never. 2) Who said I was violent? Then don't use violence. Any more questions?

Trump actions kill 63 Canadians
WestCanMan replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You're wrong on both accounts. CBC frames this as Donald Trump vs Iran, and Canada is not with America at all as long as Trudeau is PM. Trudeau's statement that: is his own watered-down way of shifting blame away from Iran and placing some of it on Trump. With friends like Trudeau who needs enemies? -
What reason could you possibly have to be violent if you don't have anything to worry about? That sounds disturbing Rue. I have never worried about my potential to be violent without reason. I don't even step on ants or earthworms. (but I confess that I don't go all Buddhist and move earthworms out of the way so that I can dig a hole)
-
But you already said: So clearly you did speak on behalf of all Jews. You talk about putting words in people's mouths Rue, yet you call me anti-immigrant and then you quote me as saying "Netanyahu hates all muslims"? WTF? I said Netanyahu one single time before this post so it should be extremely easy for you to show me where I said that he hates all muslims..... Liar. What do you think the IDF spends on counter-terrorism per year Rue? Twenty bucks? Two hundred bucks? A million dollars? One hundred million dollars....? Now we're getting somewhere. So tell me....wise one..... if Netanyahu doesn't fear islamic terrorism then why does he spend so much money on counter-terrorism? Is he worried about fellow Jews committing acts of domestic terrorism? What percent of the hundreds of millions of dollars that Netanyahu spends on counter-terrorism is to protect the Israelis from Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Taoists, Wiccans, Zoroastrians, Yazidis, Atheists, and Jews, and what percent is to protect them from one single religion's terrorists Rue? Why do I have to go through metal detectors and throw my water bottle in the garbage when I go through security at the airport Rue? How much money is spent on this planet to protect people from islamic terrorism and how much is spent to protect us from all other terrorist groups combined Rue? I know you won't answer. Here check this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_terrorist_incidents_in_June_2016 That's just one month. 187 terrorist attacks globally. How many of them come from that certain 1/4 of the earth's population? Again, you won't answer. You live in denial. Kudos to you for your ability to stick your head in the sand. That's fine, just don't blame me for the 75 lb turd while you're exonerating the elephant in the room Rue.

Your words, not mine
-
My first two comments aren't contradictory, read them again. And you're the one who said you live in fear, not me, look back at your own post. You weren't elected king of the jews Rue, you don't speak for all of them. Netanyahu doesn't seem to think that there's nothing to worry about. And don't say I'm anti-immigrant, I'm anti-stupidity. Brining in so many people from the world's biggest terrorist shithole that they couldn't vet any of them, when al-Baghdadi was telling the terrorists to mix in with the refugees, was stupid. When Trudeau denied that there was a genocide going on and decided that we didn't need to help the Christians and Yazidis that was stupid. I'm against both of those things. Now we have hate rallies on our streets and we have dozens of returning islamic state terrorists (or fighters, if you believe Ayatollah Trudeau).
-
Leaders of Islamic State named Canada and the west a target. Surely not everyone who comes here comes for that reason, but they didn't all come for jobs and to get along with others. Hence the bigots-only housing.
-
IMO the long-term effect of the first 3 years of Trump's Presidency is that the US didn't get involved in any major wars in the ME, islamic state is toast and it's leaders are dead, Suleimani is dead, and the people at "the top" of the terrorist groups across the middle east are a lot less bold. When the Dems eventually get back in the WH, probably 2024, the fact that they don't support attacks on terrorist leaders will embolden the bad guys to come out of their holes.
