That's because there's a complete absence of integrity and honesty in journalism/mass media. Stories are stripped down and then rebuilt with glaring omissions and misleading commentary so that all that's left of a story by the time a viewer sees it is politics. Even if a viewer from one side of the political spectrum or the other wanted to discuss an issue fairly they couldn't because they've never even been exposed to any of the facts which support the other half of the debate.
