We're a hair's breadth from being a communist country. The government is no longer our friend and it no longer works for us. We no longer have a free press, freedom of religion, or freedom of speech and the judicial system is run straight from the PMO.

It's 'big government' vs 'small government'. In small gov't you keep most of what you earn and there's more responsibility on you to take care of yourself. There's very little waste in a small gov't economy. In big gov't everyone gives a huge chunk of what they earn (and that extends up to a ridiculous extent for overachievers) to the government and the government ensures that everyone gets everything they need. There's a ton of waste due to bureaucracy, and there's massive overspending when people like Justin Trudeau give out sole-source contracts to their friends. Remember the earlier post about 'people in power behaving badly'? That's what happens in a socialist country, when almost all of the money flows through sticky government fingers. (Maybe the reason the gov't is cracking down on Christians is because they have their own schools, so Trudeau can't brainwash kids there.) The reality is that unless you can print your own money without going to jail, money actually has meaning. Have you ever sold a bike for cryptocurrency? Do you think that you can get one? 3 house Bernie Sanders concurs. And what happens when the next Donald Trump gets elected under a socialist system Cougar? Who do you trust with 85% of the money in the country? What civilians will be exceptional in a country where you have to produce 20x as much as your neighbour to have 1.2x as much to show for it? What does a country that's completely devoid of overachievers look like? When hunters went out 10,000 years ago and bagged an elk do you think that they gave 10% of the liver to lazy Gronk, who just banged the drums all day? That has never happened, not even before there was money, and it's not supposed to happen now. Gronk went hungry and his lazy progeny suffer the same fate where there's any justice. If they make no money and have 6 kids, their children will be disadvantaged and I don't give a shit. If you care, it's your option to give to charity.

There are also some people who choose to do little or nothing, and they just vote for socialists with the hope that Bernie will bring them a comfortable lifestyle with very little effort. Retirement is just a human concept: "Old folks can sit around now and let young folks keep this society working". Good is when you or your parents can start their own businesses, and they can get loans from banks based on the merits of their enterprise to do so, etc. I know lots of people with successful businesses. FYI it's not about 'involving God', it's about how important it is to have the right to choose your religion, or lack thereof, for yourself. What word would you prefer Aristedes? People associate communism with authoritarian control over the media and all aspects of daily life and the government. Canada is a lot like China now, where there's a hodge podge of capitalism along with strict government oversight and control that is unconstitutional by western standards. What is the difference between Trudeau's Canada and Xi's China, Aristedes? Is one a capitalist democracy and the other a purely communist society? The answer to that is a flat out NO. They meet somewhere in the middle, and it's a lot closer to the 'communist' (actual/brutal communism, not theoretical/dreamy communism) side than you think.

Trudeau himself participated in a large & racially divisive protest, right at the apex of the covid lockdowns, but at no point have religious gatherings even 1/10th that size been allowed. The constant attacks on Rebel Media from the police are also unconstittional and this use of the no-fly list to take freedom of speech away from a Canadian isn't surprising at all coming from this government. Little by little they're eroding freedoms and checks & balances that made this country what it was. If a conservative government put BLMers on a no-fly list in order to stop them from starting riots then the MSM here would go apoplectic and brand them as racist overlords. When our government gets caught in a scandal they say "Look, it's nothing; this recent poll says Canadians don't care, and the PM gave us a watered-down description of his crime that we personally like" because they're so far up Trudeau's ass that they taste his morning coffee before he does. The sole-source contract - which miraculously appeared when We was desperate for cash - was a separate scandal, and no doubt Trudeau's family would have benefitted royally when the money started trickling out. For Trudeau to sum those scandals up as: "I should have recused myself from the obvious decision to offer this massively lucrative deal to the same company that I use to funnel gobs of taxpayer money & luxury cars to my family", and for the media to happily accept that bullshit and put their "CASE CLOSED!" stamp on it, is actually a third We scandal.

They were bombing towns and airfields in Australia, they could just as easily do that in Canada. There's a huge difference between the way Japan entered the war, the massive success that they had, the power displayed by their naval fleet, the ease with which they were blowing past the American Navy, and how clear their path to Canadian soil was, vs anything that Germany had going for them in 1941/42. The Germans were bogged down fighting Britain and Russia while Japan was just conquering everything in their way, and then committing genocide. FYI Japan was not considered to be a real threat to Vancouver in mid-1941. That threat appeared abruptly in Dec of that year and when it did, it looked like a cavalry charge going up against light infantry. It didn't seem unlikely that the Japanese could get here in a matter of months. Germany was several years away from getting boots on the ground in Canada. Our plan for war against Germany was to keep manufacturing going here, keep Atlantic shipping lanes open, and keep sending troops to Europe. A new war in western Canada would have ended our ability to aid in the war against Germany. You see history through the eyes of knowing the final outcome and you don't understand just how scary Dec 1941 and Jan 1942 was for people who were living in western Canada at that moment. Your understanding of history is one-dimensional and lacks knowledge and understanding.
