  1. I think Trump is playing the middle east like a fiddle. He is provoking Iran from many sides, and he managed to look like a good guy while bombing Syria twice.
  2. If he was so shrewd and such a hawk, do you think that he actually wanted islamic state to grow to a medium-sized country, and to have the US awash in a sea of rioting, looting, arson and racial division? Neither would surprise me, especially the latter. He did a lot to fan that spark into a roaring flame.
  3. If that had happened during Trump's tenure the American MSM would have freaked and blamed Trump. There was also the incident where "Ukranian separatists" attacked along the border and were mysteriously supported by a Russian army supply chain. The world was going to hell in a handbasket when Obama was asleep at the helm, or too busy bloviating to notice anything.
  4. Ouch. It makes sense though I guess. When I was in basic they taught us that injuring enemies was better than killing because of the manpower involved in rescuing them, giving them medical attention, flying them home, maybe giving them pensions, disability, etc. That only applies to armies that actually care about their soldiers though. Terrorists don't get that kind of support (we could talk about whether Canadian vets get enough support in a different thread). In law enforcement I don't think that a cost analysis is part of the equation, just officer safety. I personally wouldn't choose a sg in law enforcement though, too hard to shoot in an urban environment. Too much spray.
  5. Kudos dude, not many people are mtg free. We personally saw more cash buyers during the recent land rush here than in the other 15 years I've been in real estate. It's not that common of a thing. Zero this year, for sure. 2019 has been a big year for "subject to sale" offers. It's a pain in the neck. The end of July and early August has been crazy busy though.
  6. I never thought of using a SG in war, so I can't speak to that aspect of it.
  7. Cash buyers don't care about interest rates, and people who aren't cash buyers can't buy at $400K over the assessed value with subject-free offers. Doesn't happen, ever. No mtg broker ever said "You're pre-qualified to buy this house at $400K over the assessed value".
  8. I never said they shouldn't be allowed to buy here, I just said they drove up the prices.
  9. I'd be more likely to put a bb on a .22, than rifle sights on a shotty. I love the bb sight. Not sure why that guy has the rifle sights unless he fires a lot of sabots. Love the grip tho. I have that on my 870.
  10. Don't believe everything you hear on the news. When the prices went insane here in BC they were saying that foreign buyers only accounted for 1-2% of the sales in BC. Maybe that was almost accurate enough for the entire province, over the course of the whole year, but in the lower mainland over that 5-month stretch that wasn't the case at all. There would be 200 east asians at every open house, 4 south asians and 4 caucasians. I didn't see a black or latino person in probably that whole time. House prices were going up by $50K a week for a while. It was insanity. The initial price hike also happened at the family home level, not at the condo or townhome level. Houses went up first, then townhouses a while later when people with detached homes started downsizing, then condos quite a bit later. If low interest rates had anything to do with it the entry-level market wouldn't have lagged so far behind.
  11. I think that a lot of our poverty comes from the welfare state that exists here, and the fact that foreign buyers are raising real estate prices by so much. Rents are getting insane.
  12. I can't speak for Quebec, but there is plenty in Alberta. It's at about 25% and the election isn't even here yet. The vast majority of Albertans, outside of Edmontonians, will be in favour of separation if Trudeau is re-elected.
  13. Trudeau just wasted $4B taxpayer money unless the "pipeline" magically gets built, in spite of his own anti-pipeline stance and legislation. Trudeau scared away over $130 billion in Alberta since he was elected, shut down coal-fired electricity in Alberta, and yet bent his weaselly back to save jobs in Quebec. He has said and done more for terrorists than Albertans since he was elected. To say that Albertans hate Trudeau is an understatement. If Trudeau gets re-elected I hope Alberta does leave Canada. I'll go back there. Quebec will suddenly lose $10B/year in transfer payments, then maybe they'll leave too.
  14. I'm not a fan of enacting policies that allow criminals to carry guns and then taking guns away from law-abiding citizens. I think it's stupid.
  15. Trump's presidency hasn't seen war, just diplomacy and economic sanctions. That's not enough for some people though. Too bad. Wait for the next Dem. Maybe 2024 if you're "lucky".
  16. I can't speak for Chi but I have a friend who's a cop in Toronto. They used to "card" people, based on reports that were sent in by civilians, but the policy was deemed to be one of police racism, so it was banned. Basically if you saw some thugs standing around your back alley, or if you had a business and they were loitering around the front driving away business, you could call the cops and they'd come and id them, ask them some basic questions, file it in a report. Now the police can't do much without witnessing an actual crime themselves or getting a report of an actual crime. Criminals hate carding, period. When the police have the right to get your information from you, and they have the right to frisk you if you're not complying with lawful questioning, it means that criminals lose some of their anonymity and it's more dangerous for them to carry concealed weapons. Policing is more dangerous now, criminals are more emboldened to carry guns, and gun violence is - not surprisingly - up. https://toronto.citynews.ca/2018/06/28/carding-ban-has-led-to-spike-in-violence-peel-police-chief So people need to choose: Do people hate carding and other "stop and frisk" programs which have been proven effective against gun-related homicides, or do they hate the fact that kids are being murdered? Most of the dead kids in Chicago are black ( https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/breaking/ct-chicago-homicides-data-tracker-htmlstory.html ), 281 compared to 34 whites, so there are about 9x as many blacks killed in Chicago. Almost all of the violence against black people comes from other black people. Only about 72 blacks were killed by police in the last SIX years, so about 12 per year, but if you listen to the news they do all the killing of black people. https://www.chicagotribune.com/investigations/ct-chicago-police-shooting-database-met-20160826-story.html Somehow the majority of people want kids to be able to carry guns around without risk of arrest by police, they also want gun violence down. It's like saying that you hate global warming and yet you have multiple homes, a jet, and a yacht. It's Lib logic. IE, mostly emotion-based with a few misleading/misinterpreted stats.
  17. That just means that people are getting lazier and less creative. I blame smartphones.
  18. If we look back on all of our posts regarding russian collusion, or Brett Kavanaugh, which one of us has made sense right from the start and which one of us jumped right on board with unsubstantiated accusations right off the hop Boges? Talk about Red vs Blue lol. Dr Ford's "this year or that, could have been just about anywhere, it's no biggie that everyone who has known me all these years says that they never heard about this crap before" story was a huge joke and you're part of the punchline. Russian collusion has turned into "Trump tried to fire the [obviously mentally-challenged] FBI director and obstructed the investigation [although even the FBI knew that there was no evidence over a year ago]!" Lmao. Now everyone's backtracking on how much credibility they gave initial charges against Trump and Kavanaugh and how much they were all sucked in. Unbiased observers you all were, lmao.
  19. There's a place for liberal thought here and everywhere. I have the utmost respect for actual liberal points of view. There's just no place for outright lies, unsubstantiated accusations, hatefulness, divisiveness, and fear-mongering. The left has gone overboard with hyper-partisan hyperbole to the point where the Dems/Libs are like the Iran of the west. Getting the truth out of a liberal is like getting water out of a stone. People here are now pretending that "the Russian collusion thing was merely 'alleged' this whole time - no one was acting like Trump was obviously 100% guilty this whole time". Take a liberal post, strip it of unsubstantiated accusations & baloney, you're left with a blank screen. Your own post, for example: "Eradicating liberal thought from the face of the earth is the most important thing to many posters here" is obviously ignorant and inflammatory. There's nothing wrong with saying "We need to take care of people" - it's true. There's everything wrong with saying.... basically every single thing that the average liberal toady regurgitates from CNN or CBC.
  20. Almost died laughing. I already love Babylon Bee and this is the first that I ever heard of it.
  21. 1) You make it sound so benign, it's not. It's a religious observation that is being forced on everyone in the country. People go to jail if they don't want to participate. It might be really swell for Iranians that it's not an actual hijab, just something to take it's place, but that's like if in Canada we said "not everyone has to wear a cross, but you at least have to wear a bracelet that says "WWJD" on it. 2) US sanctions are on countries that inflict hardships on their citizens or other countries. Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism. China implements awful trade practices including the theft of intellectual property and all kinds of trade barriers. NoKo has been a human rights violator and a threat to world peace for generations. 3) Iran openly supports Hezbollah and Hamas, both of which have leaders who have openly called for genocide against Jews. Ahmadinejad has called Israel a tumour, talked about wiping them out, and denied the holocaust. Rouhani also calls Israel a cancerous tumour. None of those people have ever said similar things about Pakistan, which is no different from Israel, aside from the fact that the Pakistanis committed genocide and mass-systemic rape to ethnically cleanse it's borders of almost every religious minority. Can you tell me B John why should Pakistan get to exist and Israel doesn't?
  22. I'm not back-pedalling, you're still just saying stupid things that are unrelated to the discussion and acting like you've proven something. Holding people in overcrowded detention facilities is not the same thing as forcing people to drink out of toilets. You need tp prove to me that the government is doing the things that AOC said they were. EYEBALL- Holding criminals in jail is normal, even if it's overcrowded. Forcing them to drink out of toilets is not. PROVE THAT ANYONE ANYWHERE HAS BACKED AOC'S CLAIMS OR ADMIT THAT YOU'RE WRONG, AS USUAL!
  23. I’m taking you at your word that they’re some conservative group that made the same evil/criminal accusations, at the time you stipulated. Cite the exact quote at the exact time that means exactly what you said. It’s your Holy Grail. In order for you to be correct they need to have said that border guards were inflicting unnecessary evils and it was just because the government wanted it that way, not because of underfunding or overcrowding. When you prove that they said words to that effect then your posts will have meaning and I’ll look into it. Right now all your posts are crap. All that CATO did so far, as per your own quotes, is make statements to the effect that there’s a crisis at the border and the border is being overwhelmed, which is right in line with what the Republicans were saying all along, back when the Dems were saying “the crisis at the border is fake”. The onus is on you to prove that CATO made a statement which is in line with AOC’s idiotic lies and I’ll look into it. Provide the meaningful quote. The money shot. The zinger. The gotcha. Not just the statement that proves that there’s a crisis at the border due to underfunding and overcrowding. Find that and then the ball is in my court. For the twentieth f’ing time. Find the quote where CATO is saying things similar to AOC. Go. Now. WTF don’t you understand eyeball? You’re the one who said the proof is out there, not me.
  24. So, in short, if CATO is a right-wing or neutral org that backs up AOC’s accusation that border guards are forcing people to drink from toilets or inflicting other evils on them for no good reason and the Republican government is party to it then you are correct. If CATO is backing the original Republican claim that there was a crisis at the border (which was accurate) and inhumane conditions were a result of overwhelmed guards, detention centers, etc then you’re completely out to lunch. That’s for another thread though. Go be wrong over there on this topic. In this thread you have to be wrong about Snopes. You can do it eyeball. I have faith in you.
  25. He is a man of high standing within the community with no reason to lie, we have every reason to believe that he knows the truth, so assigning the words “unproven” to his claim is bunk. His is the statement of record until it is “disproven”. Harris’s father grew up with people who were closely related enough to people who knew for sure. He grew up in that location, and was baptized in the church made by Brown. Likelihood = relatively high. Status, not disproven. Here’s one for ya. Go to Snopes and see if they caught Dr Ford in any actual lies. I couldn’t find any examples. For one- she said that she didn’t know that the Republicans had offered to bring a polygraph test to her. That’s impossible because it was widely reported on the news, and her own lawyers were notified. I live in Canada and I knew. Total bullshit.
