  1. Nope, had the gate to keep the dog in the yard, felt threatened by the next door neighbor three years later so upgraded to a lock. Does Trump feel threatened? Is that why he's adding to his defenses?
  2. Sure, I have a gate but I only went to the extra expense of a lock when I felt like I might be attacked.
  3. Is he expecting an attack on America?
  4. Its frustrating when people claim that Muslims, as a group, are ignorant, violent, misogynistic, liars, incipient murderers of women and gays and pedophiles ..and want this accepted as 'legitimate criticism' of Islam. It's frustrating that the constant insistence that the only true practice of Islam is the one practiced in Saudi Arabia and among extremists is met by silence or agreement by all but myself, and two or three others on this board. It's frustrating that any attempt to highlight or focus on moderate Muslims who don't practice violence, who don't believe in killing gays or honor killings, who are horrified by pedophilia is met by silence, disbelief or derision. Criticizing Islam is one thing; calling Muslims names and denying moderate or progressive Muslims even the right to call themselves Muslim is something else. Where is the support on this board for moderate or progressive Muslims or Islam? It's shouted down and denied legitimacy by the likes of DoP, Argus, Gohs Shena and others; it's also denied by those who do not challenge the all-encompassing claims about Muslims as a 'death cult' or the 'requirements' of Islam for murder and terrorism. If people are serious about supporting reform of Islam, they need to stand up and talk about the reformers within Islam, including the billions of people who silently go about their daily lives with no thought of killing or raping anyone. Silence while these Muslims are lumped in with groups like ISIS or the Saudi regime, unquestionning acceptance that outrageous stories are the norm among Muslims worldwide, this does not help those who would reform Islam. Instead it means they have to deal with the growing anti-Islam rhetoric worldwide, including those who would kill them because they've been persuaded that all Muslims are extremists.
  5. Perhaps they care what happens in their country. Could it be that the 'silent majority' is really the progressives, that while right-wing, anti-immigrant nationalists are noisy and grab news headlines and sound bites, they really do not speak for the majority? Perhaps if 80% of Americans had voted, Trump would be out deceiving investors instead of the American people.
  6. Argus has to pay all this tax because of the work he chose to do; if he wanted to pay less tax, he should not have chosen a job that pays so much. The government eliminated the children's fitness tax credit. I don't know if this is a good move or not; it seems to have primarily benefited families that could afford to put kids into extra-curricular activities, who probably already had a better fitness level anyway. But it would be interesting to know if it substantially increased participation in the programs to which it applied.
  7. Only on the things that contribute to body fat. And a tax break on gym memberships .. but only if the gym could prove, through biometrics, that you'd actually attended at least 50 times in a year (couple weeks off for sick/vacation/etc). I don't buy many sugary drinks, just the mixer for my rye, so I'd not be paying much. I think it's a good idea, if it helps educate people as to what is making them fat, tired and sick.
  8. Not the point; your claim that they are paranoid if they decide not to chance it because they may have kids or chaperones from the banned countries is delusional, a result of your blind adherence to a stupid president and his piss poor policy implementation. I don't give a flying F what Obama did; its irrelevant to whats happening today.
  9. I totally agree! They should certainly try to cross the border with a little Syrian or Sudanese girl in a headscarf, just to see if they can. Who cares if these girls get turned back, if some dumbass border security agent arbitrarily decides she's a threat, she and her friends can certainly deal with any emotional fall out. Certainly no Republican blindly supporting his President's idiotic 'security' measures should concern himself with the reality of ill-thought out policies and poor implementation. FUATHYRIO
  10. Nah. Only have to accept Jesus in your heart to be Christian, saved and born again. Baptism is optional for many sects.
  11. Americans are generally great people. Some are a little misguided when it comes to guns, but nobody is perfect. And what @?Impact wrote.
  12. Did they cancel planned trips to the Netherlands due to concerns of being turned back at the border?
  13. Like countries handpick who will cross a border, legally or illegally.
  14. They should lie about their reasons for cancelling Stateside travel, why? Is it so Trump supporters don't have to know how their exclusionary policies affect real people?
  15. Not necessarily, more like right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing. Could be that people on phones never actually work at border crossings, and wouldn't know what might set a border guard off. I would just never trust that what I was told on the phone was something I could count on at the border.
  16. I gave you a link supporting my claim; you provide nothing but opinion and when presented with proof you claim you said something else and attacked everyone on the "far left". Who is lacking "truth" here? I rarely post stuff that I can't back up with credible sources. You, on the other hand, rarely post any source - credible or otherwise - for any of your opinions. Claiming I lie fails to make your argument more credible, much as you might wish it did.
  17. If they do, it'll be the fault of Hillary/Obama/Democrats/Liberals.
  18. Not true. They got land and in some cases a cash bonus of $10 for the immigrant and $5 for family members. In some circumstances, food and clothing was also supplied. It wasn't easy, but to say early settlers got nothing from Canadian government is just wrong. Interestingly, British farmers were the least successful. Www.historymuseum.ca
  19. Or perhaps once you become a Canadian citizen, you have certain rights. Everyone has the same obligations to obey the law; if they do not, everyone has the same result - which is jail. We just deported some 60-year-old guy back to a country he's never been to because he wasn't a citizen, but does have a criminal record in Canada. Clearly, citizens are in a different class than Permanent Residents. If we treat citizens the same as Permanent Residents, what's the benefit to being a citizen?
  20. The person who answers the phone could say "Sure, no problem", while the person actually at the border says "Nope, not today".
  21. Have to remember just how patient and accepting Trump supporters are should JT make some claim for which he has no proof.
  22. In countries with Sharia law, morality is not defended. It is imposed unfairly on women, while men are excused from reponsibility for the crimes they commit on women. Countries operating under Sharia law often also fail to protect minorities.
  23. Seems to me that you were the one made uncomfortable by the movie. Yes there are poor and disadvantaged people in the world and I think we could do more to help them. But that doesn't mean I spend my life being made uncomfortable if they are depicted onscreen. If you do that is your problem to deal with, and not by projecting it on to others.
  24. Possibly they'll have specially designated times too .... And I won't even complain about it. Plus there are lots of times when its "public" swim for those who are less self conscious. Well middle age and associated body changes have made me much more shy about exposing skin, but I think regular Canadian styles work fine for me for me in most instances. I could go for a burkini, but I'm pretty sure that would get me even more stares. And what's to say I wouldn't be harassed or even beat up by people who offer similar suggestions?
