      Saw that on a tweet.

  2. Where do you work, Taxme? Or do you work at all?
  3. And yet its usually a subgroup of the Conservative right who objects to things like gay marriage or gays entirely, transgender people, people who belong to other religions, abortion on demand, mixed marriages, rights for women, rights for minorities, universal health care etc.
  4. That would be one of the Whites First parties. Still building their base, but I'm sure election candidates will show up eventually.
  5. This is an interesting assertion and I wonder if you have sources for it.
  6. That's interesting - I know there are anti-Trump and pro-Trump rallies as well as anti-Muslim and anti-Sharia rallies, but didn't know about the anti-far-right-Christian rallies. I agree that the likelihood of any religiously facsist regime taking over in the States is slim.
  7. As mentioned previously, I'm not concerned they'll take over America so I'm not posting hysterically about the Christian threat, the way some post about Islam. Although if the US were to be overtaken by religiousity, I think its more likely to be Christian than Islamic. But do find the degree of organization and planning interesting and thought others might as well.
  8. Are you or were you a home-schooler, Betsy? Anyway the author of the article was home schooled and was raised to fight for an America under a Christian rule not much different than countries under Islamic rule. I very much doubt they'll succeed, just as I doubt America will become an Islamic State. Still I'm surprised by the degree of planning and execution that they seem to have put into it.
  9. Believe a politician trying to get elected? Hahahahaha Anyway, I'm inclined to take him at his word than not. Despite the hopes and dreams of Right Now and similar groups I think it would be political suicide for Conservatives to limit abortion and reverse gay marriage laws.
  10. No doubt, but with friends like that Scheer will have an uphill battle persuading people he's committed to leaving these issues alone.
  11. From Right Now co-founder Alissa Golob: Perhaps she's wrong; what do you think?
  12. Scheer has already said he's not going down that road. Some of the anti-abortion groups who support him have suggested that while he won't initiate anything, he would support private members bills for making abortion and gay marriage illegal.
  13. Here's an account of what the Christian far right has in store for the States. Written by a woman raised "To take back the country for Christ, we needed to outbreed, outvote and outactivate the other side, thus saith The Lord". The plan to save America for Christ has been plotting along since the 70s. Mike Pence is the goal; Trump is part of the strategy and they have many pieces in place already. The ultimate end-game is to make America over in the image of an 18th century puritanical society. She paints a pretty dire picture and believes this movement poses a serious threat to secularism in the States. Its an interesting read, if not a little disturbing if one thinks Christians in Western societies are invariably benign.
  14. For the drama and a docu-drama:  Melania informs on Trump, leading to his impeachment.

  15. You are just too clever for me so much of the time.
  16. LOL. Bad accent, but plausible conversation.
  17. Americans aren't Trump, for the most part.
  18. Of course the media follows the actions of a powerful world figure; why would they not? Seems Angela Merkel is advising that the world cease relying on US participation in world affairs, while still maintaining friendly relations as much as possible. Soon enough, if he remains president, he'll be essentially sidelined. Tolerated and humored perhaps, but neither respected nor listened to.
  19. Pro-life groups are pretty happy about this as well, albeit for different reasons.
  20. Can you give an example of a demand made to preserve a primitive element of someone's culture?
  21. Sitting on my patio, installing Windows 10 on one laptop and Kodi on another, drinking red wine and listening to country music.   :)

  22. Trump will not be able to address UK parliament during State visit.
  23. I'd say that there is so much misinformation out there, that it's more a matter of deciding which lies one chooses to believe. We certainly all believe that the information we base our beliefs on is true.
  24. I'm sure it was too. It's easy not to care about the kids in Syria who suffer due to the ongoing conflict; it's barely covered on the news and certainly, no Western world leaders stand with Syrians or put their flags to half-mast to honor and grieve the victims. British and French children are much closer, ideologically at least and as we're not the least bit complicit in their deaths, they can become 'ours' in a way Syrian kids never could hope to.
  25. I think we (as Western society/culture/whatever) really should just remove ourselves from the political/military machinations in the Middle East. We don't need to 'save' people or the world for democracy or social justice or whatever has been claimed in the past; the only time we should engage militarily is if/when someone directly threatens us. If we focused on bettering our own society and let them focus on bettering (or not) their society, we'd all be better off. I think we can still provide humanitarian aid, and engage in trade without also engaging in all the other BS. We could start by reducing and removing our reliance on ME oil.
