  1. Why yes I do. But some here seem to think that Muslim men raping and assaulting women is a Muslim thing, when really its more of a "man" thing.
  2. In Canada there is no cultural acceptance of such behavior.
  3. Why is that all over Canada, girls and women are being "brainwashed" into burqas and niqabs by their family, but a young man can't be brainwashed into war by his family?
  4. True. From StatsCan: Territories have highest rate of family violence. Within the provinces, Ontario has the lowest rate while Saskatchewan has the highest. Family violence has decreased 14% from 2009 and homicides committed by family members have also declined significantly. The majority of Muslims live in Ontario and Quebec, followed by BC. Info at Stats Can and Wikipedia. It looks like the locations with the highest Muslim population have the least family violence and the places with the fewest Muslims have the highest rates. Also interesting that while more Muslims have come into Canada, overall rates of family violence and family homicide have decreased. Clearly, whatever is the cause for family violence, it's not being driven by "Muslims". Interestingly, research suggests economic downturn increases family violence rates, as do natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes or wildfires. The most at-risk women are aboriginal and young women, immigrant women, lesbian women. When non-White women report domestic violence, they are less likely to be taken seriously. Can we please stop pretending Muslims are the only or main perpetrators of family violence, and focus on solutions that will work for everyone, Muslim or not?
  5. I've never been raped by a Muslim, but I have been raped by a non-Muslim. I've been groped by non-Muslims, old-stock, white Canadian males since I was 16-years-old. Every woman in my family since my grandmother has been molested in some way by a non-Muslim, white Canadian guy; some of these men touched girls as young as six. So STFU about how "Europeans" are so much more moral or better than Muslims. You aren't.
  6. Yeah, just think of the problems we could solve if we had accurate info and no axe to grind. Screaming about how the end of Canada as we know it is at hand and that we must save the women and children from the alien horde that approaches is equally effective at solving 'the problem'.
  7. It's horrible that you were assaulted. I have been assaulted as well, by a man who didn't think a woman should talk back or say no; only difference is that he wasn't Muslim and sex was part of putting me in my place. I think stats should be kept as well. My belief that the threat posed by Muslim men is no greater than the threat posed by non-Muslim men is no more valid than your apparent belief that Muslim men do pose a bigger threat, without actual data to back it up.
  8. Lotta white guys love Japanese girls.
  9. Perhaps Jacee is nearly 60, and has seen enough of 'your type' to be able to speak for you. If age and familiarity is all it takes, that should qualify almost anyone on here to be able to 'speak for others'.
  10. Yeah. Bumping of Olenna was harsh. I like that she told him she was the poisoner of Joffrey though. I keep thinking Jamie is going to have some kind of epiphany and turn on Cersei, but he seems as stunned as ever about her. I didn't see any trailers, but its about time those dragons started earning their keep. I think Jon should try riding one, proving his Targaryen blood, and he and Danearys can decimate Euron's fleet. How are the Unsullied to get back to Dragonstone? Where is Arya?
  11. 20/20 story last night was about border guards who had a 16-year-old drink from a bottle which they suspected contained drugs. Guards are grinning at each other while they have the kid drink. Kid dies and its not pretty. I don't know if he could have been saved at any time, but medical help was not called even after it was clear that the kid was in distress. Female guard did rush herself to the hospital cause she got some fluid on her hand and someone thought she was talking fast. But the boy sweating, shaking and eventually screaming in agony ... No rush. The guards are not reprimanded at all, still have their jobs. Yeah, the kid was smuggling and if the guards had.followed procedure and tested the liquid with the equipment they have right there he could have been taken alive, so to speak. And he could have refused to drink it, but at home the cartel is watching his house and he knows that failure threatens the lives of his family. Perhaps he didn't realize.how strong the mixture was and that 4 sips would basically cook him from the inside. Perhaps he believed that the US was more compassionate than the drug cartel and would ensure he didn't die. Anyway, the guards had their little fun and the kid is dead. No doubt some will say he deserved it, although the US did settle when his family sued, albeit without admitting wrongdoing. Too often the States looks very much like the corrupt and inhumane regimes they want to lord it over.
  12. Don't hear much from Pence, do we?
  13. And isn't that convenient for the Conservative party who push the lie that Khadr is being rewarded for being a terrorist instead of the truth ... Which is that Canada - led by Chretien and then Harper - screwed up, and now we're paying that piper.
  14. There is actually evidence that he didn't do what he is accused of doing. But who cares right?
  15. Yeah, cause nobody can regret past actions or change or anything, eh? Especially not a kid of 15: they never change as they mature.
  16. That is what they do - marry girls from early teens, men can be anywhere from 40 to nearly-dead. If it were nothing but 'consenting' adults that they were marrying, I would agree with you. I don't know why the court didn't mention that part, or the news article, but it's pretty well known. http://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/more-details-come-out-in-b-c-trial-of-parents-accused-of-forcing-daughters-into-polygamous-marriages http://vancouversun.com/news/crime/daphne-bramham-former-wife-testifies-against-husband-brother-in-b-c-polygamy-trial http://bc.ctvnews.ca/2-blackmores-from-bountiful-b-c-convicted-in-child-bride-case-1.3270134
  17. Yes, let's pretend we're so perfect and so much better than those nasty immigrants. It's pure stupidity to think that not mentioning an illegal act in a guidebook somehow makes it legal or acceptable. Did the guide ever mention driving drunk, jaywalking, or mowing over pedestrians with a car as being 'illegal'? Did that make those activities legal or acceptable for immigrants? The lack of logic among the right is mind-boggling.
  18. Interesting that the conservative types still support the backwards notion that a country should not follow it's own laws and should instead only protect the rights of citizens conservatives approve of.
  19. So no problem if a Synagogue gets a message featuring gas ovens and mass graves, its just people being rude?
  20. The assault charges were dropped, were they not? Payette says someone lied, which the police determined within two weeks. There was also no evidence of wrongdoing in the pedestrian death according to police inveatigation. So I fail to see why people would waste time on these stories, other than to smear her name by any means possible. I personally preferred Harper's selection process, which JT chose not to follow. I would also like know if our government's background checks found these two incidents, irrelevant though they might be.
  21. The ones I go to do. Ling line ups too.
  22. The tellers might be wearing headscarves?
  23. Perhaps you should add some other religious groups to your hate list then, such as Mennonites and Polygamous Mormons. They dictate women's apparel, segegate men and women, discourage women from seeking education, cover up wife-beating and sexual abuse of teenage girls from the wider society and blame the women for those behaviors within their society.
