Strange that there aren't many posts in this thread as this was the biggest news at Federal level. Anybody knows when is the next confidence vote in the House of Common in which the government can lose and a Federal election called?

I have been asking for the return of Capital Punishment on this very forum and elsewhere for over a decade with over a dozen solid reasons and blame Mulroney for not having one today, however, coming this from a Christian believer totally surprised me. I thought you believed in forgiveness and turning the other chick!!!

We can have economic growth without any substantial growth in people. This was how it was in the 80's and 90's when we had around 100 to 150 thousand immigrants in those two decades. in 1982-1983 we only had 70,000 immigrants and 3 to 5% growth in economy due to the depth of the recession. Too many immigrants now mostly from third world with substantially different culture especially those non-Christian or non-Europeans will create a chaos in our society and kind of clashes we now witness in Europe so it is not all about lack of infrastructure but more so about cultural backlash. But people are afraid of talking about it.

Not sure why the thread is specific for Asians. Canada needs to halt immigration till our infrastructures allows resumption at a reasonable rate. But if we have to be specific about restricting from a certain region, I would be more specific about immigrants from Arab regions and India/Pakistan rather because of cultural differences.

Soon we will wake up and as Europe is doing now, we will close our borders to foreigners too. Hopefully sooner than later before it is too late and before we witness the riots we are witnessing in United Kingdom and rest of Europe. There is a limit to tolerance and understanding.

This is ridiculous thar a Chinese coming here as student trained by his professor and then replaces his professor in Canada not because he is more qualified but because he works like a donkey. We cannot compete against 8 billion people outside Canada. In Canada we are not used to or accept slavery. It is 40 hours per week not 80 for 40 hours pay. It is equally not right to hire cheap Indian, middle eastern people for their cheap labor when hundreds of thousands of Canadians are out of work. Any government or establishment giving priority to foreigners must be voted out or face the court as Canadian laws clearly saying foreigners must be hired only if no Canadian can be found or qualify for the position.

No, I am saying that Canadian-born or long time Canadian citizens should be given priority for jobs in Canada.

As my posts show I was always against special status for minorities. I said that because of that (hate crime laws for LGBTQ community and muslims and colored people, etc.) has made a white heterosexual Christian men with the least of rights in Western democracies. But when I read this thread, I realized why we need them. So thank you for the education but most Canadians would not wish to live in Nazi Germany or Islamic Republic where freedom and choices are responded with bullets (Mahsa Amini and many like her) or differences are eliminated by gas chambers (Nazi Germany)..

It is true that there has been some unfortunate cases of muslim bigotry and cultural aggressiveness and hatred for other religions and races may have resulted in rapes and harmful behavior and bigotry bur to generalize and claiming that UK citizens of muslim origin rape and hate is a big lie and bigotry. The black immigrants don't rape. The Eastern European immigrants bever raped, The white British never raped? All rapes being carried out by muslims in Britain? Why didn't you condemn the white British in a generalized manner? I have mentioned in the past in many threads that bringing muslims over without strict filtering out the fanatics and terrorist sympathizers poses a danger to the West and I am in particular worried about Canada rather than UK but brushing all with the same paint in my view is bigotry. We need immigrants in Canada but our immigration system is not a charity and it is aimed at benefiting Canadians so lets bring in those who are culturally adopted or adoptable and their skills and wealth benefit Canada and nor many muslims qualify for these and means mostly Europeans but I never generalize attributing crimes to one certain group or religion.

This is not new, though much worse these days. I had a high paying research position at a prestigious research institute many years ago. Then it comes a guy from China who wasn't even a citizen and was my student when I had a temporary teaching position at a nearby university. Those Chinese newcomers work like donkeys and have doctorate degrees like the poop out of donkeys. The institute decided to retain him at the end of two year trial period and I was let go. Is this democracy? Not sure. Is it competition? Well I can't compete against over 2 billion Chinese/Indians hundreds of thousands with doctorate degrees. Is it fair? Definitely not/

This morning an innocent 24 year old young man who took part in the women-led uprising in 2022 and arrested was hanged by Islamic Republic. The family of this brave young man were not allowed to see their son before his execution. The reason for this execution is to create fear and terror among the nation. Not true. First off 86% of Iran nation are born after 1979 and second, the violent minority did a revolution whereas the silent majority were intimidated to stay home. It was a coup not revolution in which foreign powers and small minority of people in that country took part.
