  1. Hey, I can't break the law if I'm not Canadian! (Although, I wonder how much it'll hurt any future chance of applying for permanent residency or citizenship? Probably not much, since I'm not actually planning on transmitting data. lol)
  2. Yup... Marois is a twit... and her and the BQ are going to be seriously regretting their inane actions if the NDP restarts their provincial party.
  3. I've met many people who went to UofA through my meteorology ties... it's a good school!
  4. I could potentially find live radio airings online somewhere. The technology does exist to black out websites/tv/radio by IP address, though.
  5. I was listening to Edmonton CBC Radio One this morning/early afternoon and heard that term many, many times. It always gave me a laugh.
  6. I do have a question... aren't local newspapers/radios/TVs allowed to release results to locals...and as an American, would I be able to access this? I'm not planning on posting these results here, of course, as I don't want MLW to be liable for the dissemination of the data... it's more to satisfy my curiosity.
  7. The problem with that analogy is that Alberta isn't giving the money directly to Quebec. Alberta gives the money to the federal government who distributes the money to where it is needed. Once that money is given to the federal government, it isn't Alberta's money anymore...and in fact, they have no right to decide where that money goes as the point of paying fees/taxes to the federal government is to ensure a stronger Confederation through the RCMP, military, infrastructure, health/education, etc. You can't be angry at Quebec for them spending money that they receive as per federal government regulations. You can be mad at the federal government, though, since they distribute the money, and since both you and Quebec have a voice in that government.
  8. I agree 100%, actually. My opinion on the Canadian election *is* meaningless. I am not a Canadian citizen, so I don't get to have a voice. That doesn't mean I can't still enjoy it to my maximum potential from a distance, though. On the other hand, you have many options to deal with your vile hatred of Quebec policies that you are not exploring. You could move there and help start to change it, for example. Since you are doing nothing besides sitting there and whining incessantly like many other Albertans of your stripe, you really have no room to have an opinion on Quebec's policies.
  9. U of A is in that riding, right?
  10. So move there and vote/advocate for the party that supports the platform you advocate. You do have that option. Other than that, your complaints are pretty meaningless.
  11. Are edits to the NDP wikipedia article like this really necessary? I undid it, but come on people.
  12. The Quebec NDP separated from the federal in 1989, and now no longer exists. I have a feeling it's going to come back strongly after this election... especially with Quebecois being tired of Charest but having tepid feelings of Marois.
  13. I'm listening to CBC radio at work, and they just said it was a 450 area code- suburbs of Montreal. My guess is Justin Trudeau.. he wants to make sure the party he takes over isn't too hard of a job to rebuild.
  14. Was the number blocked? I'd imagine so.
  15. Ahh that would make sense.
  16. Don't forget some giant 10 m tall lava lamps on either side of the speaker's chair.
  17. ...and do the people receiving these calls have a common demographic?
  18. Speaking of which... what are they renovating? The Canadian House is one of, if not the most, beautiful legislative chambers in the world. (Way better looking than whatever that ugly blue carpet is in the US House).
  19. What is wrong with people? What do they think they are accomplishing by doing this? If anything, this invigorates those who are wronged into voting even more.
  20. Mine would need to be changed to 130 then. (Which is pretty amazing how close I got... the 131 was a shoot from the hip, whereas the 130 was analyzing on a province/territory basis and summing up the numbers)
  21. lol "armchair Canadian". Perhaps you should stop sounding so jealous of all of the services Quebec provides to its people, and instead, ask your own government to provide it? That's the point of democracy.. people get to choose their leaders. All I know it that if I took a shot of whiskey every time I heard an Albertan complain about Quebec, I'd be in a perpetually comatose state. Albertans like you need to realize that you are part of a confederation and that there is a price for that. You pay taxes to the federal government so the federal government can spend that money on areas that need it. The same thing happens in America and many other areas in the world where there is a Federal/Suprafederal government collecting taxes. To perpetually whine about it is more annoying than Quebec separatists... at least they are in decline and realize (for the most part) the sadness of their position.
  22. Sounds like you are just jealous with the fact that they run their province better than Alberta runs theirs. If you have a problem with that, vote in a different government for once.
  23. There has been a lot of rumours of Vancouver Centre going to Adriane Carr.
  24. The problem for the Liberals is that they are moving down to a place they've never been, whereas that was the NDP's home for a while, and are now moving up. Positive movement will always be better than negative movement which destroys morale.
