  1. The NDP has 4 years to do that. Plenty of time to get decent parliament experience. The problem with that last paragraph is that Harper comes from the former party that centred around the wingnuts.
  2. That's how it is in both Canada AND the US. All they see is cut taxes = more money in the pocket. They don't realize that is a short term gain and eventually hurts everyone.
  3. I have a feeling weather might have something to do with it.
  4. Eh, I think you have to. All left-of-centre voters are going to learn from the 2011 election, and they'll be even more tired of Harper by 2015. They'll be ready to throw him out.
  5. 9 years is a good run for a government, and it fits well with the cycle of Canadian politics. There will be a different prime minister after the next election. Where the NDP is right now looks a lot like where the Conservatives were in 2004... albeit they were facing a minority, not a majority.... but just looking at the numbers.
  6. The sad part is there is no one exciting for the Liberals. Everyone pretty much provides a "meh" response to Canadians outside of core historical Liberal supporters. This is even more sad when you consider that the NDP already has an extremely strong leader-in-waiting with Mulcair.
  7. Hopefully after that, Ontarians (specifically those that still voted for the Liberals) realize that the problem in the early 90s was not the NDP. The problem was Bob Rae. Then they can realize that it's their fault that the Conservatives got a majority.
  8. I know, I know. The Liberals are a centre party. However, they were the main party of the "left" as in "left of the Conservatives". I know the NDP were much more technically left-wing than that.
  9. It depends. If the Harper majority is an utter disaster, the NDP wouldn't have to move much more. Actually, the only thing that needs to move is Ontario. The left wing of the NDP would probably be ecstatic that their party is in government. If the NDP forms a majority government, they'll get to have an equally efficient voice as the SoCred wing of the CPC will this time around.
  10. Every single time a Liberal MP, former MP, or supporter brings up "well in 1984 we were reduced to 40 seats, and look what happened!", I cringe. It's not even remotely the same. First, Mulroney had a HUGE! majority. 200+ seats. Harper doesn't have that. Second, the Liberal's votes went to the PCs. The NDP seats went down in 1984. The PCs were ideologically opposed to the Liberals, whereas in 2011, the Liberals' were replaced by a more solid left-wing party. Totally different. The Liberals' position has been fundamentally usurped by a party better able to handle defending the left-wing position.
  11. I can't wait to see SoCred II in the 2015 election.
  12. I hope they elect Bob Rae. Sweet justice and the death of the Liberals.
  13. Iggy is officially done!!!
  14. ...and three weeks ago, the NDP may have won like 3 seats max in Quebec. Things change fast.
  15. I like what the Quebec commentator on CBC (I don't remember her name, but I love her) said about how Marois and the PQ convention occurred shortly before the Bloc tanked... I totally agree with her. People keep saying that the PQ are headed for victory in the next Quebec election... I say not so fast. The NDP are going to want to restart their provincial party and could easily wipe the PQ off the map.
  16. I knew Laverdiere was going to beat Duceppe... not that badly though haha I looked at her resume a while back... for some reason, I have a good feeling about her. I think she has a great future in store with the New Democrats.
  17. Okay, I called that one wrong... I would gladly let him keep the reins of the Liberal party... maybe in 2015 they'll get 3 seats
  18. lol he is barely winning his own riding.
  19. I feel a resignation coming on. Too long and self-pity filled.
  20. Doesn't look like it, which is awesome Bloc is down to 2 seats lol
  21. NDP 100 !!!!
  22. Even though the Cons are out so far ahead, I can't contain my happiness, excitement, and smiling for the NDP, Liberal, and Bloc results
  23. 2 seats away from 100. My God.
  24. That's probably going to rely on Saskatoba and BC.
