Etobicoke Centre By-election (possibly)

I think you underestimate the intelligence of those in the GTA. -
Speaker's Ruling on F-35 Deceit in the House
nittanylionstorm07 replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm still confused as to why the Tories felt that electing such a young person to such a wise person's post was such a great idea. As an NDP supporter, I think Milliken did an absolutely honourable and outstanding job in the post. -
I think the best chance of government out of the current Greek mess is one lead by SYRIZA including KKE, INDGRE, DEMLEFT, and PASOK. I do believe with its socialist leanings that PASOK would be more likely to support that coalition than ND. If that doesn't work, then they will be heading to the polls again.

Wrt Japan, to be fair, the DPJ made it a priority in their election planks to rebuild the JDF into a more well armed, better equipped military. With NK and China next door, this isn't surprising. Now comparing Canada and Japan in this situation as if somehow they are in equal places is ridiculous beyond words.

NDP Leading Tories in Newest Poll

At some point you and your ilk are going to have to come back from the alternate universe you are living in. -
NDP 33% CPC 30% LPC 20% GPC 8% BQ 7% http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/canada/poll-suggests-dead-heat-for-ndp-tories-on-anniversary-of-election-149837985.html I guess all of those scandals and the Hitler comment among others are finally sticking. For sure there will be some wiggle room between now and 2015, but Harper simply cannot control his majority, scandal-laden caucus.

NDP member leaves goes to Liberal party
nittanylionstorm07 replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Um clearly you didn't read all of the articles about Denis switching to the LPC when she gave her reason for leaving as "The people voted for Jack." Come on now. I know you are not this blind. -
Haven't you had enough of flooding this board with unintelligible nonsense?

I can. I've come to believe August1991 is completely nuts. -

You clearly don't understand Quebec politics at all. Though I would not be surprised at all if a provincial NDP repops up as provincial politics shift from the sovereigntist vs. federalist debate back to a traditional left vs. right debate. -

Alberta Election Prediction
nittanylionstorm07 replied to madmax's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Here's what I'll go with: Wildrose- 49 Progressive Conservatives- 33 New Democrats- 5 Liberals- 0 Alberta- 0 -
You're kidding right? McGuinty would not have been in a strong position at all. Even if Hudak ran an equally incompetent campaign (quite possible), people would be so fed up with both the Liberals and Hudak that they would have voted the NDP in. We're already seeing the NDP skyrocket in opinion polls in the province.. no reason to believe otherwise.
-
Yeah but the PCs pretty much had the election in the bag at the start of the campaign. For the much-reviled Liberals to win that election... not necessarily on McGuinty's performance, but on Hudak's incompetence... it says a lot. They should have replaced Hudak with someone a bit smarter. The Liberals on the other hand never had a chance in any of the past three federal elections (minor exception with the beginning of 2011... Iggy was pretty incompetent though).

Ground-water levels in Canada
nittanylionstorm07 replied to -TSS-'s topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Umm... please, pray tell, give a source for what you've "heard" Lol, seriously? No. Not only no, but consider how much freshwater is contained up north in glaciers, lakes, rivers, etc. Canada will have to worry about water when the earth warms so much that the US becomes a giant desert and everyone has to live further north to survive. -
If the Liberals do not give anything to the NDP, then the public would be pretty aware of that and would be okay with the NDP not supporting the budget. Horwath has been communicating very effectively to the public, and she would be able to paint the Liberals at fault easily for the election... especially considering how the Liberals are currently viewed. If the Liberals only give the raise on taxes for $500,000+ incomes but nothing else, it becomes a bit harder for the NDP since that is the most visible plank in the budget for them. Horwath may be able to get the public on her side because she is so effective at communicating, but it is not as much of a guarantee as it would be in the first situation.
