The Battle of Charlottesville
jacee replied to Altai's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
My mistake. Yes it was the same day, but after the police declared the Nazi rally an unlawful assembly and put an end to it pretty much before it started. The Nazi rammed his car into a group of Antifas on the street. I believe the Antifas were celebrating the fact that the police halted the Nazi rally, but there were no Nazis in that crowd and no conflict happening at that location. Obviously the homicidal Nazi knew that. He would hardly drive his car into a group containing his Nazi friends. -

Yes, racial hatred ideologies must be stomped out. That takes political and legal action. Street action is necessary first to raise awareness. -

At least try to get your facts straight: This happened the day after the Nazi rally. The Nazis permit had already been revoked. This was a peaceful VICTORY celebration by the Anti-fascists. -

?? I despise Nazis because of their hateful ideology, not because of their race. -

There is no place for racial/ethnic hatred of any kind. Nazis like you are the bigger problem in North America. -

There is no moral equivalency when it comes to neo-Nazi white supremacy http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/opinion/charlottesville-aftermath-1.4246438 A white supremacist group, on the other hand, cannot exist without individuals who believe people of colour are genetically inferior. There is no such thing as a neo-Nazi who doesn't despise Jews. Hatred is their raison d'être. This captures my opinion. White supremacists and Nazis are evil and must be stopped, shut down, criminalized. The US fought the Civil War against white supremacists, and WWII against Nazis. There is no place for racial hatred in a civil society. -

We talk back. We all have free speech. The Nazi cancer must be destroyed. -

They aren't just "right wing", argus. They're Nazis. They must be stopped and destroyed. The left is arming itself now too. 'Redneck Revolt' was there, armed (that's their thing) as security at Justice Park, the staging ground for the anti-fascists. They repelled repeated attacks by the fascists, no shots fired. Get used to it. And ... if you're really "getting sick of it", argus? Stop going to your Nazi rallies. -

Racism and fascism must always be confronted. That's free speech too. -

We still do. If you have proof of that, you would have provided it, so I think it's just racist lies, white supremacist propaganda. You certainly have that attitude about you in everything you say here. This is a unique situation that has more to do with Trump's USA: Haitian people who have made lives in the US will likely be deported when their permits there expire in January. This was unexpected, there is no military base available to house them temporarily as we did for Syrian families, so the military is constructing temporary camps while they are processed. Some will be able to stay, some will not. -

Yes, Trump is publicly disassociating himself from the white supremacists ... 'tepidly' anyway ... but that's his base, so it's risky for him. Beating 'lefties' with burning torches, ramming cars into crowds of 'lefties' ... this is what he has fueled, I think. It remains to be seen whether the extreme right turns on him, or turns more violent against 'the left', or both. -

Yes Charlottesville Virginia. Former KKK leader David Duke obviously recognized himself as one of the "bigots" Trump referred to, and he's really pissed at Trump now: https://www.aol.com/article/news/2017/08/12/former-kkk-leader-david-duke-strikes-out-at-trump-charlottesville/23075788/ David Duke @DrDavidDuke So, after decades of White Americans being targeted for discriminated & anti-White hatred, we come together as a people, and you attack us? https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/896420822780444672 … David Duke @DrDavidDuke I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/896420822780444672 … 2:03 PM - Aug 12, 2017 Oooo ... kinda threatening. I wonder if he'll hit him with his tiki torch?! -

The Ill feeling between left and right on immigration
jacee replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canada has always had a steady stream of immigrants through the application process, and also waves of people displaced from their own countries by wars, famine, etc. This has been the same since before Canada was Canada. And during every wave, there are always a few people crying 'IT'S A CATASTROPHY!!!' It never is. And life goes on. Some people just like to create drama. Some people just like to blame and hate. Most of us just want to live our lives in peace, grateful to be Canadian and not haters, and welcome new people to join us in that. Happy summer, folks! Enjoy! -

Michael is a decent, fair moderator. Like all people, he can sometimes be 'taxed' (hehehe) to the max. You are purposely quite outrageous. Why would it surprise you that occasionally someone will outrage you too? -
You believe the US war against Iraq was justified by 9/11 ? Seriously?!
-
Excuse me. I forgot to say free to ' ...practice their religion ... within the laws of Canada'.
-
I defend people's right to choose and to practice their religion without discrimination. I defend women's right to wear what they choose without discrimination. I choose to neither practice a religion, nor wear a burka.
-
The US/CIA did not go to Iraq to help the Iraqi people. They went to install a government 'friendly' to private corporate interests, take control of the country and privatize Iraq's nationalized natural resources, especially oil, using 9/11 as an excuse. It was an invasion of a soverign country.
