  1. That's going to be an interesting court case. One significant fact: He posted a reward for people to invade the school and try to record students "spewing hate speech" during prayers. The school went into lockdown, of course, and called police. That sets this case apart: threatening the safety of a specific group of children, imo. He is charged with one count of wilful promotion of hatred. http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-46/section-319.html (2) Every one who, by communicating statements, other than in private conversation, wilfully promotes hatred against any identifiable group is guilty of (a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or (b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.
  2. I am saying that in Canada, like everyone else, Muslims are free to practice their religion within the law. Nobody's business. Those of you who promote hatred against Muslims and incite Islamophobia are testing the bounds of the law in Canada.
  3. I am not "in Islam". Anyone who needs recourse to the law has it in Canada. What is your point? Islamophobia - inciting hatred against Muslims in Canada should not be against the law? Is that your point?
  4. Criticize Islam and any other religion all you want. But Muslims and Christians and whoever can do whatever they want, within the law. This statement is ridiculous: Muslims must be allowed to have ideas, discuss and criticize their own belief systems without fear. Really?! If someone chooses to belong to an Evangelical, Orthodox or other religion that discourages free thinking ... that's their choice, and it's no one else's business. "Muslims must ..." ? Try "Christians must ...!" See how that goes over. Point being, no one outside of a religion can dictate what is in the religion, beyond the law.
  5. DoP This is Canada. We defend freedom of religion, regardless. It is not 'spreading Islam' to defend people's right to practice Islam. Your Islamophobia is not welcome.
  6. It's the USA! USA! cult that is a murderous problem everywhere it goes.
  7. Stop trolling. All religions are stupid mind control nonsense. But that's a choice people are free to make, within the law. Islam is not a problem in Canada. Islamophobia is.
  8. Who the hell cares. It's a religion. They're all archaic and strange. But people are free to practice as they wish, within the law. There is no justification for Islamophobia in Canada.
  9. Stuff like this may be anti-Muslim trolling.
  10. Re: white nationalists ... ie, the thread topic ... post Charlottesville, a gathering of poor misguided buffoons and a few sociopaths who prey on them. Buffoons bragged about guns and 'killing them all'. Surprise night torch rally to beat up a few black people. Smash through clergy to try to deliver their hate messages. Shoot into a crowd. Turn tail and run when a few people fight back. Crazoid drives at people kills one injures 19. Crying Nazi learns that his pepper spray is a felony. What?! He didn't know? Quite a lot of bad publicity! In the aftermath, some Canadian white nationalist groups are now rallying to address their real issues: "Poverty and mental illness". Yup. For real. PEGIDA will talk about the influence of Islam on poverty.
  11. Tell the US & allies to stop bombing their countries, then.
  12. Cum Laude says: Public education is in trouble in 9 of 10 provinces with Quebec being the exception. Also, anyone who pays even minimal attention realizes that public education is becoming a joke. Ya so we should have more private 'free market' education so we can score in the 400's like the US, instead of the top 10 where we are now. Here's a graphic for PISA Math (dots are countries): .........CA............................US............................ I don't mind having an intelligent discussion on this topic, but your blanket propaganda statements smearing public education just don't make the grade in that respect.
  13. What is your evidence for saying this? If you really are 'Cum laude' you'll back up what you say. Otherwise you're just 'sum loude'.
  14. That statement. What is your evidence for that?
  15. Can you clarify what you mean? Canadian students do well on international assessments, better in language than Math but still very good. http://www.cmec.ca/Publications/Lists/Publications/Attachments/365/PISA2015-CdnReport-EN.pdf https://www.cmec.ca/580/Programs-and-Initiatives/Assessment/Trends-in-International-Mathematics-and-Science-Study-(TIMSS)/Canadian-Results-—-Grade-8/index.html Ontario students did better than the national average on Pan-Canadian assessments: http://www.eqao.com/en/about_eqao/media_room/communication-docs/infographic-PCAP-highlights-ontario-results-2013.pdf Canadian adults have among the highest average education levels of any country. So I find your blanket statement quite odd. What are you basing that on?
  16. Fanatacism is dangerous with or without religion. You'd have to be quite dull, unstable or brainwashed by sociopaths to follow ANY religion's texts literally, in my opinion. And you'd have to be fanatic to slog through them to cherry-pick literal bits to use to smear all who practice that religion, to incite hatred against them.
  17. You're free to oppose extremists of any or no religious persuasion. You are not free to incite hatred against all Canadian Muslims by lumping them all with terrorists.
  18. DoP this thread is not about extremism in Islamic countries that 'drive others out'. It's about antiMuslim 'Nationalists' in Canada. Tty to be relevant.
  19. From @dialamah 's link: Antifa traces its roots to the 1920s and ’30s, when militant leftists battled fascists in the streets of Germany, Italy, and Spain. [Local note: 1930's Toronto, Christie Pits 'riot' was Italian (ballplayers) anti-fascists backing up their Jewish friends (the ballplayers on the opposing team) against the intruding white supremacist nazi fascists.] When fascism withered after World War II, antifa did too. But in the ’70s and ’80s, neo-Nazi skinheads began to infiltrate ... and ... young leftists, including many anarchists and punk fans, revived the tradition of street-level antifascism. In the late ’80s, left-wing punk fans in the United States began following suit, though they initially called their groups Anti-Racist Action, ... these activists toured with popular alternative bands in the ’90s, trying to ensure that neo-Nazis did not recruit their fans. ... Trump ... For antifa, the result has been explosive growth. ... “Suddenly,” noted the antifa-aligned journal It’s Going Down, “anarchists and antifa, who have been demonized and sidelined by the wider Left have been hearing from liberals and Leftists, ‘you’ve been right all along.’ ” "right" in that fascism must be squashed.
  20. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/thinkprogress.org/clergy-in-charlottesville-e95752415c3e/amp/ Meet the clergy who stared down white supremacists in Charlottesville This one is interesting too. The actions of clergy ... and Antifa. The white supremacists went there to do violence, did violence the night before their scheduled rally. They always deserve to be shut down and run out of town. And they are being shut down. I believe their growth is being interfered with.
  21. Did you miss it?
  22. Awwww ... is the poor baby Nazi crying as he punches and kicks and elbows his way through the church people?
  23. We can always blame the Scotsman. But no religion claims any terrorists.
  24. Peacefully blockading them and preventing their hate rally. If they are violent and attack the line ...
  25. Interesting. So called 'Islamic' extremists seldom/never go to mosque.
