I am in favour of devolving more power to citizens and reducing the power of the two major parties. However, I think the system you suggest is too unwieldy. I believe we can make some progress in that direction by implementing proportional representation. It would spread the power out among more parties, encourage more collaboration across party lines and reduce the divisiveness of the current system.

The thread is not about Islam. It's about Islamophobia in Canada. IE, the irrational hatred of Muslims that some people try to incite and promote by attempting to justify such hatred.

In law, it doesn't matter. In reality, it's quite unlikely to work on me. However, it does work on disaffected people who want to blame their pain on an identifiable source, who want to feel part of a 'clan', who want to act out their pain in violence and vandalism. That's the Trump appeal. He's the global signal for racial hatred now. The disaffected are feeling pretty potent these days, being on the side of the President of the United States of America! Just like Hitler's Nazi youth felt.

I'll bet you can't: 1) Private schools may choose not participate in standard assessments (as publicly funded schools are required to do). 2) Even if they do choose to participate, they may choose not post the results publicly (as publicly funded schools are required to do). 3) Personal communication from a private school parent - They did the comparison themselves. - NO DIFFERENCE overall! They were quite shocked. Their schools were actually underperforming compared to public schools of similarly affluent communities. Don't push your privatization agenda in Canada, Cum Laude. Privatization would drag our kids down. I challenge you to provide evidence otherwise.

I've heard that from Indigenous people. Traditionally, they conducted controlled burns to rejuvenate mixed forests and to protect their communities. I also think there's another factor: replanting with monoculture - 'industrial forests'. I remember when there was no replanting and environmentalists protested and demanded replanting. We got it ... but forestry companies replanted only one species that they could harvest in ~20 years. I think that's what's burning out of control with no diversity among the trees to slow it down ... the monoculture ... industrial 'forests' that aren't real forests at all, but 'tree farms'.

Discussion about Islam is not relevant in this thread topic. Freedom of religion is a fact in Canada. Doesn't matter which one, but Islamophobia is a current concern in Canada. Trying to justify hate crimes against Muslims by poking through their religion is nuts ... or Islamophobic trolling. Hate crimes are just crimes.
