You're opinions merit some further investigations of law and fact. Get back to us with that.

I am not a fan of either party. I believe they both have cozy and corrupt relations with business and industry - esp Quebec and Alberta. We all know the Conservatives cater to big oil and big gas ( ). I also found it quite humourous that after Harper was first elected, there was a dinner and photo op gathering of the powerbrokers with him, and right up front was Desmarais ... with Harper standing in front of him, shifting back and forth trying to hide Desmarais from the various camera angles! The only difference between those two parties is that Wilson-Raybould and Philpott have now called out the corruption. And as I said before, Conservative MP's are less likely to do so, more amenable to just following orders.
-
You could say all of that about the Conservatives too. I think that's why Scheer is pretty quiet on this issue: He knows pressure and corruption is the Conservative way too. He may not have any MP's ethical enough to buck the pressure and resign over the corruption, though. Lol

Liberals are not "lefties". Principled people can go GREEN. We all need to. The corrupted Liberal and Conservative Parties are just more of the same old payoffs and destructive industries.

There's no shortage of Trust Funds. Ask the government why hundreds of Land Claims are not being settled. Talk to the government about why they are so stingy with releasing funds. I don't know. Cos governments are nasty idiots, I assume. It's disgusting.

Indigenous blockade in BC & related protests
jacee replied to turningrite's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Then you're in the wrong thread. -
What do you not understand about "Trust Funds"? IT'S THEIR MONEY! From whatever sources - land leases and other revenues, treaty rights to services, etc. The government administers funds from Indigenous Trust Funds, allocates funds for housing, governance, health care, education, social services, water etc. etc. ... insufficiently.
-
You make lengthy arguments of why Indigenous people 'should' want to leave their communities ... but they won't leave their territory. Not going to happen. End of story. Their Trust Funds are plenty big enough, if the government would release sufficient funds. Yes, many people on reserves do live in low income (substandard) public housing. Many don't too. And many low income non-Indigenous people live in public housing in cities, etc. too. What's your point? Yes, child welfare supports within Indigenous communities will be helpful. It's not your business to tell anyone how they 'should' live their culture or traditional way of life. Sheesh!!

All religions are Constitutionally protected. Catholic schools and Francophone schools also.

Unhhhhh ... Canada was first all Indigenous Peoples, then a French Catholic colony, Metis out west, then English/Irish/Scottish. Southern Ontario became largely Orange-run. Canada was never all WASP. Where the hell are you from? Not here!

Indigenous blockade in BC & related protests

You can't shoot except in self defense And that's way off topic. RCMP assault on Wet'suet'en people asserting Constitutional Aboriginal rights is the topic. -

One needs to be careful - if one is trained to use a gun on people - that everyone's Constitutional rights are respected. Not everyone who dissents from government is a valid target. Some are asserting their legal rights despite government opposition. Every police officer and every soldier has to determine for themselves that they are following "lawful" - ie, Constitutional - orders. -

You are retired, right? I hope ... -
No, the Liberals (and Conservatives) can't be fixed. They'll just be beaten, and the corrupt and dirty industries that sustain them will fail. There are HUGE changes coming. Women and children are taking the lead.
-
Big changes are coming.
-
I think she sees now that ths Liberal Party (and Conservative Party) is too entrenched in the pockets of big industry, and can't be fixed. The Greens won't be fringe for long.

No need to address anything you've said. You ask questions that can be answered by researching and understanding the laws of Canada. Do that. Start with this: Canada has 3 founding peoples - Aboriginal, French, British - and 3 legal systems: Aboriginal Law French Civil Code British Common Law All are relevant and in force today. Understanding Canada's laws is understanding Canada. You have much to learn. You can answer all of your own questions, and come to understand Canada in the process. You could start by understanding: * that all of Canada was Aboriginal Title before European 'contact', and remains so today, except where use of the land was formally and legally ceded to the Crown, under the rules laid out in the Royal Proclamation of 1763. * that even on land ceded for the use of the Crown, Indigenous peoples retain Aboriginal rights - the right to sustain themselves from that ceded land, whether by hunting, fishing, etc. OR by sharing in revenues earned from the land (logging, mining, oil/gas, building, farming, etc). * Haudenosaunee people are the Six Nations who have occupied both sides of the Great Lakes for more than a thousand years, including Southern Ontario. (Some other nations resided there, by agreement with the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.)

I would like to see Jody Wilson-Raybould join the Green Party. She and Elizabeth May would be awesome! Both extremely competent and ... they both tell the truth and have integrity ! Imagine honesty and integrity in power! That would be a first!

Tommy Douglas and the CCP/NDP started the process that led to universal Health care in Canada. Universal Health care is why Canadians of all political parties voted Tommy Douglas "greatest Canadian". The term "Eskimo Communist" is offensive. Are you 12?
-
Don't count on it.They have chosen not to leave their traditional territories until now, and that won't likely change. It is not a viable 'strategy'. You are aware that some Indigenous communities were forcibly relocated in the past? It was not a good thing for them and it won't be repeated by government. Supporting them in place with adequate housing, and funding are necessary, comparable to the rest of us. Funding for 'public' housing and education (per student) should be comparable, and it is not!

Regulatory logjam has cost Canada $100 billion
jacee replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The world is changing. Governments won't be throwing good money away on obsolete fossil fuels. https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/clean-disruption-renewable-energy-canada-1.3470590 $100 billion saved? Awesome. $3000 for each of us ($12k for a family of 4)... which we'll spend upgrading to reewable energy and keep the economy humming. No problem! -

We pay your salary. You work for us. You do not take orders from politicians. Politicians DON'T like dissenting people. You uphold people's right to dissent. You DON'T squash dissent because a politician doesn't like it. You are not the enforcers for politicians whims. You enforce the law ... Constitutional law ... and you follow only orders that respect Constitutional rights. Your personal insults suggest you know you have no ground to stand on. The RCMP screwed up in assaulting the Wet'suet'en people. They violated their Oaths. -

Politicians cannot give orders to the military. Soldiers should know better. Do your own research. Provinces can request military assistance in some circumstances. You are always responsible for upholding Constitutional rights. Violations of rights are not "lawful orders". -
You spout nonsense. You can't forcibly remove Indigenous people from their traditional territory. We can release more appropriate funding levels from Indigenous Trust Funds- e.g., equal educational funding per student would be a good start.
